Like everyone in lockdown, I bought an mini-fryer from Aldi for like 20 quid and the easiest recipe is Doritos chicken. Roll some chicken in flour, then egg, then crushed Doritos and fry the shit out of it. The cheese ones are nice but the flamin' hot ones are pretty god like redneck food. Jalapeno poppers in a cornflake batter is the one. Ranch dip and I'm in hillbilly heaven.

No biscuits at UK KFC, they have those with gravy right? Don't think I've ever tried one but I remember my American gf used to rave about them.

KFC in the US is awful. It’s so bland. And the ‘biscuits’ can get in the bin.

Anyone tried Jollibee, Slim's or Popeyes? Never tried any of them.
I need to nip to Meadowhall tonight and after all this talk I'm picking up some fried chicken.

Popeyes is ok, better fries for one. I hear some people think it's better than KFC but having a Zinger tower pips it.

McDonald’s today. Got the Mrs’ order right. I ordered a bacon roll with ketchup meal with a coffee and a pineapple stick. No pineapple stick. Cross. One coffee. Tick. This next bit is definitely not right: 0/10, fuck my life.

A load of the American chains opened in Oxford recently. A Popeyes, a Wendys and a Shake Shack. The problem is they near and are basically the same price as a dozen other small places who beat the shit out of them so Ive never actually been in. I'm not going to get a 10 quid burger from the shake shack when the covered market is *right there*

What's wrong with ketchup on bacon?

What's with ketchup on bacon? It's not brown sauce.

Perhaps it's a regional thing but Five Guys around here is god like and is leagues better than Burger King and Maccies.
And referencing a few pages back - I believe the "Big Tasty" is a completely different burger depending on which country you're in, which might explain the lack of consensus there.

Until recently subway was my absolute go to. Ten years ago their lunch deal was unbeatable. £5 for a footlong and drink. Spicy Italian on hearty Italian bread, peppers, gherkins, olives and jalapeño's, and mayo. It was amazing back then. Spicy Italian, Italian bread, lettuce, onions, jalapeño, chipotle southwest and Sweet onion sauce. Cheese and toasted, of course (does anybody ever say no to this?)

Don't get mine toasted - have a weird aversion to warm salad.

No cheese because of lactose intolerance but definitely toasted. I used to get a half a bag of chips and a 6in from subway back in my younger days when I could eat shit with no visual consequences. Man it was good.

I think you will find there is no bacon with that ketchup so you can't have a grievance with him.

Subway is great. I don't have it often, but always enjoy it. Served as a particular good lunchtime meal a couple of times on my holiday to America last year.
Jambo - obviously, everyone is different and your lactose intolerance might be particularly bad and you have to avoid it entirely, but cheese is actually really low in lactose. The process of making cheese removes most of it, particularly hard cheeses. I'm also lactose intolerant, but don't think I could give up cheese!

It's bad enough that it makes me ill when I have it. I just use lactase tablets and everything is fine.

There are some decent lactose free cheddars available now. Very bog standard but Lactose Free Cathedral City is pretty good and the Arla one is OK, too. Better than vegan cheese anyway, Jesus Christ that stuff is rank.

What happened to Quiznos? They pioneered the toasted sub thing, I liked them more than Subway

I tried Fat Pat's sub a week or two ago in Manchester - little hole in the wall outlet that is only collection or delivery.
Possibly the most unhealthy thing I've eaten but it was massive and incredibly tasty. Would recommend it to anyone in the area.

I think Quiznos are literally the business school case study for rapid over expansion. They got hit with lawsuits for overselling franchises basically next to each other, knowing they couldn’t make money.
The remaining stores ate each other and they went bankrupt.
There was a vice article on it a few years ago.

If you're having a subway and not having southwest sauce, you're doing it wrong.
