Went to a Strada on Saturday, and Italian chain. It was on the Southbank, and very busy, but the reviews made it look OK and it was close to something else we were doing so took a punt.
Whilst not overly priced, it was decidedly average (we all thought our food was bland) and the service was poor - drinks came 10 minutes after the food (having asked twice) and my beer was room temperature. Would not recommend.

Bleeker St (Spitalfields), bacon double cheeseburger for lunch today
13/10, I’m reasonably sure they make the best burgers in London. My personal favourite burger in the world, absolutely dripping with beef juice. One of those places that just does one thing but does it to perfection

I'll be in London at the end of September, Bleecker was on my list of places to try last time but I didn't get around to it. When you order on the touchscreens shown on their site, do you have the option to customise it and remove/add ingredients?

Vaguely on topic: on their 50th anniversary adverts who’s idea was it to remind us that a visit to a McDonald’s restaurant used to be kinda fun as opposed to the depressing grey shit boxes they grace us with now?

That is true. It's weird because I remember going to a few birthday parties as a kid to a McDonald's and it having all crazy Grimace statues and all curved seats and tables. Like you say it's just really sterile and without joy. I wonder what happened there?

They don’t want you staying there any longer than it takes to eat your 6 piece mcnugget meal so you piss off and free the seats up

Basically, yeah. They closed our local one for longer than it originally took to build it and when it finally reopened they had sacrificed half the seats to deliveroo pickup and got rid of the service counter pretty much entirely. There are just half a dozen shit smeared screens to order from. They even got rid of all the wall ‘art’ so it looks like a Jenrick Detention Centre. It’s just so actively hostile to anyone who wants to just nip in after work or something.
I can’t believe that it’s preferable to just building a few regional dark kitchens.

I'm still baffled by the amount of delivery drivers at McDonald's. As I've not thought of them as anything other than somewhere to get food because I'm drunk and it's late so most other options are shut.
If you're getting something delivered there's all the local Chinese places FFS.

I only really consider McDonalds for their breakfast as their bacon and egg muffins are a reasonable choice. Not the best but sometimes hit the spot nicely, and I think their coffee is actually not that bad.
Only other time I've been to McDonalds is if I've been drinking with work colleagues after a meeting and it's 3am. Been to a few in different cities, the McDonalds in Bristol city centre (my home city) is by far the worst, it's actually abysmal. Would not reccomend.

I know what you guys mean. It feels like my local one is dividing itself three ways between drive-thru, walk in and delivery and walk in experience suffers - and it’s a bitter pill to swallow when you know the delivery guys are paying for soggy burgers and lukewarm fries.

You must really like syphilis if you use the touch screens at any fast food joint. Find a seat, order on the app and get it delivered your table.

I think so yeah, you can add an extra patty or whatever. I don’t know about removing stuff but theres only a few ingredients anyway so I’d just leave it. What would you add / remove? The onions?

Had a burger at a Wendys for the first time the other week. A Dave's Single but with changed cheese and added bacon. I'd say it was a better tasting burger than a McD's equivalent (for what that's worth). The Baconator looked pretty tempting but felt like overkill (and maybe a heart attack).

Legoland has by far the worst food outlets of any theme park I’ve ever been to

Flamingoland in the very early 90's was fucking awful.
Inedible & disgusting. An impressive achievement. And i was a teenager ffs, i could have eaten any old shite when i was hungry.

Legoland food has improved since our last visit in like Jan 2023, but not getting any Michelin stars . But my chickpea curry at the hotel restaurant was extremely decent and would order again.

The hotel restaurant is pretty good, but you can only eat there if staying the night
