Bongo Heracles It's excellent, isn't it? No great surprise - as I've said before, I could listen to her sing the phone book, and still be utterly entranced - but that diminishes nothing.
This one's well worth a listen as well, in case you haven't heard it already.

Its the actual music that's surprised me as much as anything else. The vocals are obviously great but the instrumentation is fantastic. The bloke off Simian Mobile Disco is a good knob twidder but she does the writing, co-producing and arranging. Just a super talented person.

Echoing the above, she has such a sublime voice, lovely album for today.

The new Beth Gibbons album is wonderful. I like the one she did with the guy from TalkTalk just fine but this is really special. I really liked the tracks she released from it earlier on. That's awesome the rest of the album is good. Going to treat myself to it on vinyl at the weekend.

I still need to give the Beth Gibbons lp a listen yet, guess that'll be the mission for some point over the next couple of days.

New Billie Eilish album seems rather underwhelming.
I liked her early stuff, which had some bite and was different. Then her last album went very bland. (when she went blonde). This one just feels like a mish-mash of other people's stuff (Lana Del Ray, Swift, etc..) but with a mild version of her electronic beat in the background of a few of them.
It's like she doesn't want to do the original darker style that made her unique, but she doesn't really know what her style is now so she's just copying a bunch of other people's popular songs.

The new machinedrum album is pretty great. Really good feats. and the production is excellent. A nice, wide variety of beats and styles.
Recommended if you like hip-hop and random genres.

I've been catching up on some releases I've missed this year and they both seem to hit the nostalgia feels for me. One being The Folk Implosion with Lou Barlow, who I always enjoyed outside of Dinosaur Jr and Fu Manchu where I went through a big stoner rock phase many years ago. Both really worth checking out.
The Folk Implosion - Walk Thru Me
Fu Manchu – The Return Of Tomorrow

Will check them all out - forgot Mouses new album was finally coming out. I really hope they tour, I saw them 6 or 7 years ago and they were electric.

Wilco have a new ep out.
Zach Bryan has a new album (which oddly has Bruce Springsteen on one song).

New Soft Play album is fucking awesome - they have come back from their six year hiatus with more vitriol than before, album is very strong, and has some ferocious tracks songs on there. Some heavier stuff than previous albums which is very welcome and listening to it today makes me even more excited about seeing them in October.

New Los Campesinos! is worth checking out. I got a bit bored of their sound a while ago, but it's definitely pulled me back in with this album.

New Jack White that was given away for free is really good
Shame the vinyl release is limited to 2000 copies and of course all sold out.. this is why I have mostly given up collecting.

I got the remastered Stop making sense album by talking heads. Comes on 2 cds and a blue ray that has a Dolby atmos mix.
But like a twat, I didn't read the small print, which says it's just the audio and not the video on the blu ray, sigh.
So I've found the 4k version of it now but it's from the states so nice bloody shipping bill totalling 67 quid in the end.
But I'm bloody having it!

The new Jamie XX stuff is like a blend of The Avalanches and The Chemical Brothers and I am all in. Every single released so far has been excellent.

Been a while since I've indulged in some metal (I'm nowhere near as close to the scene as I used to be) but today stumbled on the delightfully named 200 Stab Wounds and it is right up my street. They peddle some very decent death metal (with some shades of Slipknot to me - which is great, as I love them), very fast drums, some nice sludgy guitar and growling vocals - love it.
I saw a great quote on Loudwire which sums them up perfectly; "This is a simple knuckledragger’s delight — no excess, no guitar wanking, no artsy drumming… just fun death metal"

I just listened to the new OSees (Thee Oh Sees etc). There was a point where I absolutely loved everything they did, but they've become incredible tedious. I can't remember the last new album I enjoyed.

I think kind of the opposite-ish, *raises voice to high pitch* I think?
Their last load of albums have been pretty varied that I’ve like but not loved (apart from the singles. I really liked Goon and funeral solution)

The 4k version of stop making sense arrived yesterday so I had a play last night. It.is.fucking.glorious! I don't know how they've done it but it looks absolutely brilliant and they have done the atmos mix exactly as described - all music coming out left and right and the echoes and the crowd and the clapping all from rear and height speakers perfectly. It's a really good mix. Highly recommended!
