If you like a bit of Shoegaze there is a new album out today by Hotline TNT (called Cartwheel) that is pretty bloody good. Not heard of them before today but was intrigued by the Pitchfork review I read. Somewhat late to this but very happy to be. It's bloody fantastic, right up my street. Cheers.

That new Grandaddy album I mentioned on the last page is out today. Even for them its a very mellow and dreamy one. I know Jason Lytle says the intention was to mix bluegrass and new wave but if you ever wondered what a shoegaze country album would sound like you’d be in the right area too. Its really nice. grandaddy.bandcamp.com/album/blu-wav

Nice, didn't know they had a new one out. Been a fan since King of Jeans.

Oooh, I also didn't know Pissed Jeans had a new one out. Just put it on.
I've been enjoying the latest Mannequin Pussy album, that's a bit good. On a different tangent The Last Dinner Party album is also very good.

rhaegyr mikeckIt came out last Friday - probably my favourite new release of the year so far (assuming the Sonic Youth live album doesn't count, which I guess it shouldn't).

New Black Keys album - Ohio Players - came out today. So far, so good! You could very easily identify the 7 tracks that Beck co-wrote and produced for them. They’re all great. I’m not much of a Gallagher fan, but even his collaborations are great. Good times all round. No filler and no blips!

I had no idea they had a new album coming, that was a nice surprise today. It has definitely got Beck's influence all over it (opening track especially sets that scene).

Yeah. It kinda reminds me of Guero in places, which makes sense as that was around the time they had originally planned to work together. Almost 20 years ago! Ooph.

I think lyrically they’re a bit weaker these days, Feeder. It sometimes sounds like they’ve run out of things to sing about or life has become too comfy for them. But musically, Red/Black album is fantastic. They still know how to layer guitars and create some super satisfying noises. Torpedo was just as good.

English Teacher's debut album (This Could be Texas) released last week and is a cracker. They released a more art-punk sounding EP back in 2022 (Polyawkward) which was when I first got into them, but the new album is a bit softer, but also more inventive and experimental - they are like a more radio friendly Black Country, New Road or Black Midi (who I fucking love, so that is not a sleight).

He's got a brand new car Looks like a jaguar It's got leather seats It's got a CD player player player player player ,
That’s just an example of how decent their lyrics used to be!

I do like some of their stuff but it's more dumb but fun that I've thought of them as.
Do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do Do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do Do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do Do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do Do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do Do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do

@reviewer You’re not wrong! But there’s a difference between writing about a scrappy holiday in Majorca and writing about a coffee culture epidemic. There are some awkward, almost embarrassing dad-like lines in some of their recent stuff.

To me Feeder are the closest UK act to Smashing Pumpkins we have had and while never quite managing a full album of material to the heights of say Siamese Dreams from the pumpkins their reliability in (nearly) always delivering good to great music is admirable and they have such a great back catalogue now every time I see them live is a joy. Guess they are Pumpkins-lite It also helps that I think Grant Nicholas is a great songwriter lyrically (and yes he very much knows that he occassionaly just drops a pop song and owns it) and Taka Hirose (bassist) is such a legend (maybe my favourite bassist along with Flea and Colin Greenwood).
I challange anyone who enjoys Indie through to Rock music to not listen to their Greatest Hits and think "damn there are some good tunes here"...
Feeeeeder we salute you

The lockdown version of the Just A Day video was a real emotional broadside from them too.

Guess it also helps I’m 46 now, have grown up as a music fan alongside the band and while I’m not a dad I’m definitely of an age I get and enjoy dad jokes 🤣😎🤟

They can still bang out a good tune and I am a big fan of Torpedo. through and through. I just think they could hit a bit higher with a producer.
Still, to literally have written and produced their last 5 or 6 albums alone and still chart is a testament to their quality. You don’t fluke that. They are the true definition of indie.

Yeah joking aside I like Feeder . Just the way I’m feeling is a great song even if it does sound like wonderwall at the start

The new The KVB album is really good. I really don't like the term 'darkwave' but I am a genre enjoyer at the moment.

They opened in 2012 but played to a tiny crowd as the site was beset by access issues due to rain, so campers were late on site and locals were delayed too. They're playing the Big Top this year so should be good.
