We haven’t got a general purpose catch all TV thread. We have now.
Go and read the reviews of Mrs Brown’s Boys - not something you’d normally want to do, I know - but they’re particularly vicious this time.

In no way will the BBC have looked at the demographics and realised which sector of the public will moan the loudest. They have absolutely no previous form for pissing off Daily Mail readers to make a point. 😁 Question of Sport stops production, BBC confirms www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-67731546

I've not watched it for years but that still makes me sad. Was a big part of my childhood, watching it with my dad. Emlyn Hughes, Willie, Big Bill and Beefy as captains.

Same here. But with the Tories cutting funding in half over the last 10 years, there’s no way the BBC can do all the things they used to.

It's another one of those anniversaries that makes you wonder where your life went.
The League of Gentlemen first broadcast 25 years ago today

Speaking of things from 25 years ago... GLADIATORS returns on Saturday. Can't wait to watch that with my kids (although somewhat disappointed that Bradley Walsh is the new host).

Who looks at a baby and thinks it looks like a Barney? What a terrible name.

In short:
Illegal street dentistry, televised executions, criminal parrots, bank robbery as performance art, frozen human waste falling out of the sky, etc.

Thats... a weird way for them to go.
I guess that with the way the Spartacus story famously ends, it's a bit hard coming up with a way to do a sequel, but that's still not what I'd have expected.
It's a bit like coming up with a story for Titanic 2 or 300 2. Wait, they did at least one of those..

Thats... a weird way for them to go. Yeah, can't judge it fairly till I've seen it, but I'm really not sure about it at all. The original series (and spin-off) are in my absolute all time favourites list, don't want them tarnished in any way.

Spaced turns 25 in September too. Darkplace turns 20 today. Still fantastic. I’d argue that (with the possible exception of Alice Lowe) its these are the best performances that any of the main cast has done.

If it wasn't for the fact that Laszlo Cravensworth existed you'd be close.

Guess Alan didn't enjoy commentating on Saudi football (I assume that's what he's been up to).

Heh. Don’t forget that second ‘g’. His talk of Total War reminds me I bought Pharaoh:TW recently and need to check it out.

A truly impressive lack of self awareness.
My favourite part is between his boast that 'they let me in early' at the gym (just like Alan's celebrity shopping privileges at Norwich Tandy) or the fact that he makes his poor Assistant meet him at a Harvester for a business breakfast on a Saturday!

None of that adds up. Breakfast at 1030 and lunch at midday? The whole Harvester thing just screamed Big Plate. Has to be a piss take.

It's hard to pad out a whole article with playing Total War in your pants all day. He just added a couple bits. I like how he had a dedicated slot to play with his kid for an hour, and then explained how he negotiated having that kid in the first place.

I liked the "OK, I'll have a kid, but only if you get your mum in as a domestic slave".
