Just got word there's a Ninja Warrior channel in the vein of the free nothing-but-Robot-Wars channel arriving. That could be a serious time sink.
If they ever did a Dragonball Z one I might need to take a sabbatical from work.

Charlie Cooper (Kurtan from This Country) has a new show on BBC3 tonight where he drives around in a van investigating folk tales and myths.
Sounds like a less silly version of Mike Bubbins’ The Unexplainers.

I feel slightly bad for him that after their joint breakthrough Daisy has had mountains of writing and acting success whereas he's seemingly struggled for decent roles. Might well be entirely deserved but you'd forgive him for feeling a bit overlooked.

Agreed, although I think it may have been a case of "We already have one Mackenzie Crook, why do we need another one"

It is a shame because he’s consistently funny and he’s very watchable in this. Only getting three episodes for such a relatively low budget production is a bit shan too, what else is he taking airtime from? Another Two Pints of Lager repeat?
But yes, do watch Myth Country it should be twice the length but what we’ve got is good stuff.

Disney are putting the monthly sub up by £2 a month... almost a 20% hike.
I'm considering pulling the plug and just renting anything I'd normally watch. It will probably turn out cheaper. It's not like I really watch the Star Wars and Marvel stuff I signed up for that much any more. It's become a big premium for not missing out on the one or two great series that come out a year.

That is why I started buying 4K discs again. A lot you can pick up cheap in CEX these days.

Ben Wheatley has a new series starting on C4 tonight. From what I can tell the premise is “what if elderly people were zombies”.

Saw a trailer for it and laughed at how rubbish it looks. Didn't realise Wheatley had anything to do with it... Hard pass for me unless it reviews spectacularly

Kermode compares it to Cocoon, Threads, Attack The Block, Kill List, Civil War.
I’m not sure how it can have all that scope but Wheatley is a very “one for them/one for me” director and this sounds like its a “one for me” project.

I watched the whole thing now and it has its moments and isn't shit but it's very unsubtle, which is hardly surprising, not really a zombie drama at all really, just a very ham-fisted attempt at post-Brexit satire. It could easily have lost a couple of episodes as it drags at times and the only character that stands out is Finn (Viola Prettejohn), everyone else? Don't give a shit.

The Martin Lewis Money Show is back on ITV tonight. Outside of England matches, it’s the only thing I watch on ITV.
Used to watch ITV loads when I was growing up, then it just went to crap with a sea of soaps.

The Gen Z thing might be ok but even with Ben Wheatley’s involvement I’m just done with zombies.
Oh, carrying on Walking Dead are you? I don’t care.
Remaking dead rising? I don’t care.
Night of the Living Dead but everyone works together? Well… I could use some escapism.

bit sad that Autumn Watch has been reduced to a five minute slot on the One Show Keeping dangerous revolutionary Chris Packham from spreading the message of caring for nature. Last year he self-funded his own Autumn Watch with a bunch of young co-presenters who look like they’d never seen a camera before. It was more political than he gets to be on Watch normally. youtube.com/@8outof10bats

Have they done the same to spring watch? Autumn is much more interesting imo.
