No regrets. Had a moment of melancholy on the drive home as I realised my kid making days were done. Same, no regrets, but I felt the opposite, a massive relief. Quite relieved that my child making days were over.

I find it easier to just never have sex again. Same here - I rely on being completely unfuckable.
"Nature's vasectomy", I call it.

My big recommendation is that afterwards, if you have kids, do not go anywhere without a big fuck off pillow. Some protection at least against stray elbows and knees from the little cherubs. I also don't recommend moving house a week after. Dismantling wardrobes was something of a challenge.

paulyboy81 it's a pretty standard set of questions/things to be aware of. I had to do the same thing and couldn't just get it all out of the way in the appointment when I first asked about it. Went through the same thing before COVID hit too and got as far as getting referred, but gave up on it then. Yeah I know the whole process (brother and best mate both had it done at around that time), just seemed like a wasted trip. Booked the appointment, told them what it was regarding, took the morning off work, drove down, walked in, walked out 30 seconds later with another appointment. As with a lot of things in the NHS it could be better organised.

Reading up about this new method, it sounds much less scary. I’m going to see how rum and damaged get on first though. This was about 7 years ago I guess, pretty sure the method used now is no different to the one I had, either the tubes are tied or sealed (ie with heat), oh yeah don't forget the blood in your semen for the following few weeks. 😀

paulyboy81 indeed. Although as I say, one of my docs was really reluctant, despite knowing that my wife suffered horrendously during pregnancy including being hospitalised. I think because I wasn't quite 40 or something. Properly grilled us (wanted us both there) and then said "come back in 6 months". So I went to her husband who was much more relaxed about it all!

I've started the process. Had a telephone consult with my GP. Next step is the councelling session, which is such a huge fucking waste of time. I'm 53, got two kids and my partner has two kids. No fucking way either of us want more.

I didn't have any of that. Just was asked if I had discussed and thought about it. I said yes and that was it.

I started the process, but not having any kids meant they wanted us to jump through a whole load of extra hoops, which I just couldn't be bothered with at the time. Probably should look into it again though as I feel a bit bad that the wife has been on the pill for so long.

At the time I first booked mine I was 37 and my wife was 32, told her we were childless, she just spent a couple of minutes asking “are you definitely sure, reversal isn’t guaranteed to work”, and that was that.

Yeah, reading up it does seem a bit hit-and-miss. Hopefully it would be easier now.

This has crossed my 36 year old mind recently too. The pill started messing my wife up so at the moment I'm using fucking johnnies. Pushing 15-20 years since I last used one and no, johnny tech has not improved over the years.
Have two kids, and all family members third kids have been little shits and I can't be doing with that through my 40s

Regarding the build up - my GP told me it’s not done on the NHS in my neck of the woods (south east) and I’d have to go private. I checked the cost of private and it was £600. I know some of you spend that on vests, but for me it’s too much. Then I looked it up and there was a clinic 20 mins drive away which did it. So I asked for a referral and got it done there. To be fair to my GP, he is fucking useless (as evidenced above) so I probably lucked out not having him snip my tubes.

I was told the same , however i got in touch with msi and its possible. Tell your GP you have been in contact with MSI www.msichoices.org.uk/other-services/vasectomy/You have to ask for a NHS referal number. I had to push it a bit but they buckled and I am getting it done on NHS in october via above.
