While the OLED is bloody lovely in comparison to the base model, I don't use it undocked enough to let it really put me off. The size of this thing would put me off just throwing it in my work bag for a commute anyway.
Curious to see the quality of the panel it ends up getting.

We know what size it is, that youtuber had irrefutable proof!

The OLED is rather nice, but having a Steam Deck and Portal, without OLED.. it doesn't really make me feel like I can't go back. Your eyes adjust.

Surely the model in that video is some kind of XL variant (assuming it’s not fake) and there will be a smaller one too? I wouldn’t really want the Switch be any bigger than it already is.

They'll absolutely save the OLED screen for a mid-gen refresh model to boost sales. They can't give us everything we want in one go as we wouldn't want to buy a second one in 3 years time!

Every other company: *Just trundles along, increasing memory and resolution as and when*
Nintendo: *oh, by the way, tactile holograms or something*

I don't have much of an issue with the size going bigger. I thought the Steam Deck might be too big, but it is much more comfortable than the Switch.
The bigger issue I have with the leak design is that they don't seem to have done anything with the ergonomics. It doesn't seem to have been tested with normal adult hands.
I mostly use the current one docked though, so not a massive issue for me. Also means I'm not hugely bothered about the screen being OLED or not. I would prefer it to be and I would get that version if it was available, but I won't hang on for it.

The one Nintendo gimmick I wanted was ergonomic joycons that also converted to a decent pro controller. No idea how it would work though.

It might not be quite as comfortable as the Deck (which I feel is a bit too big for a portable, imo), but the bigger size will still make a difference to ergonomics. Also, the form factor and design was incredibly successful so it would have been a bit risky to change it too much, especially when you factor in the detachable joycons having to work as standalone controllers too.

Does anyone remember those battery grips you could buy for your JoyCon? They were official and shown off around launch. Big black things that clipped on the back of the controllers to improve battery life and grip. They kinda disappeared quickly, but surely someone here tried them?

Well that’s disappointing. I always assumed the extra battery was pointless (I forgot they were AA battery ports), but you’d have thought half the point of those things was to add some level of comfort.
I might try and nab some for my collection before they are completely forgotten to time.
I still regret not getting all the Labo stuff when it down to a tenner per pack.

I didn't even know it was a thing. Not sure it would make it more ergonomic though.

You can get dirt cheap silicon cases that make them a bit more ergonomic, though the one we have makes it impossible to fit them into the controller grip so we stopped using them.

If you can find a Satisfye zengrip, then that for me is the go to for grips. I've had quite a few, with Skull & Co being fairly decent, but the Satisfye, just satisfies my needs

Think he's talking about the Joy-Con (L)/(R) AA Battery Pack, two products down from the Joy-Con Charging Grip. I have seen those battery packs in the wild but don't have them myself. I have got that charging grip like you though, agree it's not amazing but I do prefer it to using two joycons detached like a pad, that just always feels weird to me.

I have a couple of the grips, but without any charging capability. I prefer them to just a Joy-Con on it's side for MK, and it's better than one in each hand independently, but not a patch on the pro controller.

Looks like it's made out of cardboard, and has a slot drive for GC discs presumably.

Whoever came up with this concept has missed a trick by not giving the Pro version a third tine on the controller, N64 style:

The Pro Pad design looks nice enough, but I'm having a hard time imagining how the top design would dock, or fit the necessary hardware, especially when it's smaller (even if not by much) than the current Switch...
Unless the idea is to ditch the dock entirely, but again, how would everything fit?
