If Elden Ring is a bit less brutal than the other From games, then I would be very interested. I really want to like the From games. They tick so many boxes, but I don't have the patience to git gud. Despite finishing Hollow Knight, Rain World and other pretty nails 2D adventure games, there is something about 3D equivalents that I really struggle with. Could be positioning or just the stodgy combat. HK is far more responsive than DS. There was a bit of a grind for me with my first From game (Bloodborne) but I never found any From games I played after nearly as difficult as I already had a feel for the combat. Have you tried Nioh? It has a similar challenge to DS but the controls and combat are much smoother |

Player the Nioh demo. Was alright but similar response.
I think the precision of 2D games and jumping/flying/parachuting/etc to traverse the maps just makes them more interesting to me. Running on foot from a bonfire to attack the same enemy again gets particularly repetitive.

I don't think stodgy is the right word as it suggests it's unintentional, I would lean towards the word measured. Although they are far better at 60fps than 30.
Nioh is in no way tanky and is actually really quite fast paced.

Tbh isn't that just any game with a substantial amount of players? You're always going to get people who use a videogame/sport/piece of media as a substitute for their personality and attempt to gatekeep it.

You don’t have to git gud to play Dark Souls. I’ve not played those games you’ve mentioned but I bet they are a much sterner test I realise this makes me sound a bit of a nob as it does have a reputation of being brutal but once you understand it’s systems and environments it’s incredibly easy and very relaxing to play |
