The art style works though. Edge’s subscriber covers are things of true beauty, I’ve never come across a magazine on any subject that even comes close.

Oh yeah it's impressive determination. But it feels a bit like being in Tate Modern try to read articles.

On a sort of related note, I've started reading Edge again recently (I can get free online access via my local council library of all things). Years of reddit/forum/twitter reading has made it impossible for me to read anything longer than a few words. I skim everything and jump to the end. Nobody's got time for that. I've been doing the same (using Libby) and I think their style is still stuck in the mid noughties. There's too much white space on every page and it makes reading it very unappealing. IMO of course. Reminds me, I downloaded the Libby app and haven't got round to setting it up yet. Thanks

I still subscribe to Edge but most issues remain in the plastic bag these day, I just stick them in a pile, hoping to read them one day
Gaming culture has changed so much that there’s very little in them that’s relevant to me

I doubt that they’ll ever be worth proper money. I do have every issue though

I’ll sell them all issue by issue when I retire, see if I can get my money back
I’ve also got every issue of the car magazine EVO, some of those will be worth a few quid

The market is only after Max Power these days. Anything else is a waste of money.

Still think Edge reviews are second to none myself, and I love their making of and time extends. The news is obviously totally redundant though.

Their little magazine is actually nice to go through as well. You can't actually beat having something printed in your grubby hands and leafing through it with a nice mug of bovril beside you.

Yeah, I switched to digital at one point but it just isn’t as pleasurable.

I don't even really game any more, but I could still see myself sitting down with a copy of Edge if one passed my way.

I've now got the urge to buy a copy. Is it Elden Ring on the cover this month?

Balls, bet it won't be on the shelves anywhere. I'll have a gander after work anyway.

I've just had the next issue after that one delivered yesterday. Mind you, subscribers do get copies first (I think) so you might be in luck. Ordinarily, you can buy singles issues online from the past coupla months, but that was one was popular it seems.

Yeah I noticed it had gone. Hmph. I've got two wee shops nearby that may sell it so I'll have a squizz. I actually bought the one that had Bloodborne on the Cover, and the Dark Souls 3 one, so not sure why I didn't make a point of buying this one. Butter mny balls.

That is a lovely cover. I wonder if they have that at my local Barnes & Noble. I do miss a good magazine. I've not really bought one in ages, but I do agree that digital magazines aren't the same.

Reading EG's latest article on Elden Ring I realize that their commenters are quickly moving closer to the brand they are looking for.
Advocating easy mode for souls games was pretty much thumbs down 2 years ago on both the forums and comment sections. Now, I see more and more comments advocating accessibility in ways that makes absolutely no sense to me.

If they can make a living out of it and pay everyones wages I don't really see a problem
Re: Easy mode, not fussed. Too much emphasis is put on the difficulty anyway. One common thing you'll see in all From threads is people discussing builds that make you OP and how fun it is

If Elden Ring is a bit less brutal than the other From games, then I would be very interested. I really want to like the From games. They tick so many boxes, but I don't have the patience to git gud. Despite finishing Hollow Knight, Rain World and other pretty nails 2D adventure games, there is something about 3D equivalents that I really struggle with.

I actually don't mind Elden Ring being easier and intend to play the game coop with two brothers who lack my skills. And I do get the I dont have time for this and dont feel like investing mentality. Its why I do not intend to get better at shoot em ups beyond clearing them, play fighting games or play shooters online.
Sekiro on base PS4, despite me finishing it within 2 weeks with little guides was in my opinion, too difficult. It felt as if it was overtuned and I wish the ressurrection system was at least replenished all the time.
I also don't mind EG succeeding really, just felt it was such a stark contrast and clear that their audience is differenr now.
