I really hated shitting anywhere but at home when I was a kid, and could go a week without having to go.
Now I'm lucky if I only shit once a day, and will literally do it anywhere.

Anyone else notice that the cookie pop up on EG defaults to having all of them selected? I’m not talking about the Accept All button, but when you go to customise choices they’re all selected, even the trackers, and you have to untick them all one by one. I’m pretty sure that’s not allowed

In other news, I've just deleted my EG account. Completely meaningless act but still felt a bit weird after having it for 16 years.
Lots of the settings in the profile page specifically refer to the now non existent forum. Good work craigy!

I genuinely don't understand why a website that's existence relies on an active community removed such a key offering. The forum was a vital element in the success of EG in the first 10 years.
The security/cost argument seems invalid given the ease we set up here.
Yes there are alternatives to a classic forum but if you look at Twitch, Twitter and Discord they don't offer the same level of engagement.
In the rush to embrace what's hot (Hansel) they've shot themselves in the foot. Add in the disaster of the most recent expo and the subscription service and it's not looking great.

The other day I checked the comments of a few articles and reviews and not only were they quite a lot lower than I remember them being but the number of users being sponsors was really low as well. Doesn't look good.

There’s definitely a significant lack of personality nowadays which isn’t helping matters, although I don’t really read much of it anymore. Back in the old days you could tell when something was written by Kieron Gillen, John Walker, Rab, Ellie, et al from the style alone, but I’m not sure there’s any of that left, it seems to be a sea of identical opinions and a beige flatness to it all. I guess that’s what corporate overlordness does to a place though.
