Yep, that’s putting the cart before the horse for me. They’re deleting comments with links because they were always going to delete comments with links, regardless of what we did, or didn’t, do. I'm in general a bit confused here, but I was under the impression that deleting any comment with links by default is standard policy for most comment sections, simply as an anti-spam measure? |

Yeah, they’ve, as far as I’m aware, outsourced comment moderation. They’ve definitely done it on RPS so wouldn’t at all be surprised if it’s a wider Reedpop thing.

Yeah popped into the discord and it just feels utterly devoid of anything.
It's just a shit format for anything other than live, in-the-moment chat. So great when playing games with somebody or just shit-posting to friends. Not so good for creating a sense of community or allowing longer threads to develop.
And the idea that gaming is "flavor of the week" doesn't sit right with me at all, personally. I post World of Warcraft, and earlier this year I posted Control and Quantum Break, and I've been playing Metro Exodus recently (though I guess the latter is a bit more relevant thanks to the enhanced edition).
None of those are exactly new or in the news.
I have AC Odyssey to play next, and a ton of other, old games. I have no idea what's currently cool.

I'm still a mod at EG, but its defo the paid reedpop gang doing the moderating for comments nowadays. To be fair, you need round the clock moderation so it makes a lot of sense for the de-spamming alone.

I too was confused by this, but I believe it's actually an entirely separate one for the swapsies stuff. No idea what the link is, but I'm sure someone here has it. |

It's the inaccessibility to the old forums that gets me - there's a lot of fun threads I wish I could look back on. The Wayback link that's been posted helps, but that barely skims the surface since there's still a lot of undocumented material. A lot of the forum history was inaccessible due to various bans, account deletions etc anyway. It's not like there was any real permanence to it. I downloaded a lot of it when they announced the closure so I'll try to do something with the data at some point. I bet you're all dying to know how many posts contained the word cunt.
