Depends how far you advanced it. You can complete the act 2 bit immediately if you have the materials and after that he's not involved in that particular quest line.

I was wondering whether to go back and do it again. I tried so many times though and was starting to get frustrated. At one point I managed to kill the boss and 4 enemies that surrounded Isobel, but then she ran into my cloud of daggers and killed herself. I had a few choice words to say at that point How do you turn someone into a chicken ? Re Dammon, I saw him first and did the next part of the quest. Also gave him more infernal iron to make some armour. Wasn’t sure if there was more than that.

I redid until I saved her, couldn’t bear it. But I think there’s something to be said for accepting the consequences and moving on, I’m just too weak to do so. Been save scrumming my way through the game tbh.

I went back this morning, did it first time with no problems at all. Very odd. I think there is a fair bit of luck involved sometimes. Although the trick for me seemed to be to lure Marcus away from Isobel by casting cloud of daggers and running to the other side of my party. He follows as he wants to break concentration but triggers reaction hits from my team. Then he struggled to get back to her. Between the strategically placed cloud of daggers, Shadowheart's spirit guardians and very carefully placed lightning bolt from Gale it was pretty much done.

To be fair it's essentially DnD. A bad dice roll or three can turn even the best strategies on their head

A cleric is immensely useful in that fight (and in all of act 2) due to Turn Undead, Spirit Guardians and being able to heal and/or Sanctuary anyone that gets focused. It's good damage, good defence and helps turn the action economy in your favour.
But it's also really random and can be either easy or very difficult when you have that many NPCs that can act in wildly different ways.

It's weird that I never found that fight particularly difficult.

I've not done it yet. After reloading, I left the inn to ambush the convoy, then kept exploring… I suppose there is the chance things will have gone south on my return.

I think it’s about taking a slightly different approach and being a bit lucky with hits and enemy positioning.
I thought I’d mix up my party and put wyll in for a bit, but I find him super annoying. Plus I’m now off to the ambush site so I’m thinking I want my strongest party. So I’ll have stick Gale or Astorian back in I think. Leaning towards Gale at the moment.
I might give him another chance when I’m just messing around.

I found out someone at work is playing this and we were talking about it. He asked how far along I was and I said I was at the beginning of act 2 after about 60 hrs. He looked at me with bewilderment. "Really? I'm midway through act 2 after 30 hrs". I thought there's no way, maybe he got confused or something but it certainly sounded like he was further ahead than me, confirmed he was in the Shadowlands. So ended up talking about some memorable encounters and I talked about how I used Karlach to start a fight by shoving an enemy into a giant spider pit. Again he looks at me confused. "Who's Karlach?" Turns out not only did he miss out on Karlach, he's also missed out on Wyll which I find even more impressive as he was literally right there in the grove to talk to. Saying he's finding it difficult now as enemies are around level 6 or 7 and he's still at 4. I just don't know how you can play a game like this and not scrape the entire map for all there is.

I came across someone online saying they were at the end of act 1 and complaining that the game is too difficult. When asked what their party was it turned out they only ever found Shadowheart and were level 3 or something.
I know I'm at the other extreme, obsessively poking my nose into every nook and cranny, and I've played RPGs for 30 years so a lot of stuff that's not obvious to a newcomer is just ingrained in me. Still seems completely alien that someone could be plonked into a fantastical fantasy world and have no interest in exploring or doing side quests *at all*.

I just got out of the Grand Mausoleum and am about to return to Moonrise Towers to kick some butt. I was expecting the Mausoleum to be big-ish but I think I ended up being down there for about 5 hours! It's absolutely brilliant. Stuff I did: Convinced a giant red demon to kill itself. Completed the Gauntlet of Shar with Shadowheart. Killed Balthazar and freed the Nightsong. Shadowheart now appears to be pretty happy about life.
Missed some stuff to do with rats I think, but they were annoying.

It's weird that I never found that fight particularly difficult. Me neither. I think I might have restarted the fight once, as I had a really bad start to it (think I cast a spell that needed concentration then immediately broke it, as well as maybe moving another character badly or something - all stuff that was my own fault), but it mostly went quite straightforwardly after that. I expect there were other fights I really struggled with that others didn't though (like the one against Yurgir).

So now I have the pixie blessing can I go wherever I want? I thought this part was going to get annoying but I think I've got the stuff I need to traverse it relatively quickly. Although those plant things that ambush you (I forget what they are called) are bloody brutal.

I think both times for me he spawned right next to Lae'zel, so action surge that's 4 greater weapon smashes straight to his face round 1. Went down like a sack of potatoes after that.

I think I just lucked through it the first time. Lucky crits killed the feathery bastard in the first turn and the rest was just mopping up. I had no idea what the consequences could be until I saw other people talk about losing the fight.
I can easily see how it could go to hell even if you don't do anything "wrong" though, just due to randomness and how silly the AI can be.

Though iirc the thing wore off once for some reason so I had to re-use the item to apply it again.

I've lost a bit of momentum on this, partly because I started playing FC24, partly because I'm not a massive fan of the Act 2 map so far. It's got a bit more interesting as I've found a couple of characters and events but I much preferred act 1 so far. I found the shadow curse thing initially a bit annoying, then a bit pointless once I got the pixie blessing. But I guess its part of the story so I'll just go with it.
Just got to Moonrise so things should probably get a bit more interesting again now.
I also tried having Wyll in my party for a while, but I just can't do it. He's too annoying!

I've lost a bit of momentum on this Same here, not had any time to play. I've just reached the Last Light Inn and got Karlach's heart partly fixed (Aces!) Shadowheart is kicking butt in the Shadowlands with her Radiant damage. I like Wyll:-) Thankfully I don't find any of them annoying.

I mainly find Wyll and Lae’zel annoying, but more so Wyll.
I was tempted to put Lae’zel and Karlach in together for maximum attack damage, but I think I need Gale for the moment. Shadowheart is a must!

I'm at a similar place in Act 2 and definitely agree. It feels less alive (probably meant to be really). Issue for me is there seems to be far fewer character interactions compared to Act 1 and my relationships don't seem to be moving that far. Looks boring too.
Hoping it picks up at Moonrise then Act 3 is back to being exceptional.

Should say I still bloody love it, it's just that first act is outstanding and that map just seemed so deep and full of things to uncover.

There’s a lot of Bloodborney stuff north of moonrise. I agree it’s not as fun but I still enjoyed it, and one location in particular blew me away. Still not actually emerged. doing the end of act 2 boss at the minute, got it down to 2 health which was annoying.
Very much looking forward to heading to Baldurs Gate.

Weirdly I enjoyed the underdark, but that place seemed much more alive and interesting.
Still found a few interesting things though and enjoying it, albeit not quite as much.
Is there much point in circling back to the mountain pass? I guess there is the creche, but not sure if it’s like the underdark, which I wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on.

I've found a submarine!
It was fairly easy to work out what's is for, plot-wise, but I didn't want to me up quest progression by using it too soon. So now I'm trying to find the trigger point, which I think is the floor below where I am now...

The crèche advanced Lazels(sp) plot significantly.
