I think I got a bit cocky. I was happily running around the opening area, easily killing everything I ran into. I was a bit OP after going through the under dark a bit earlier than I probably should have. Then I got to Nere and was a bit cocky. I didn’t realise quite how many buddies he had and got taken out pretty quickly. I’m now thinking I might try to take out the other guys before I ‘rescue’ him . Not sure if that messes anything up though. I might also switch out Astarion for Gale. Think he could be more useful for that fight.

I have stuck with Gale, Shadowheart, and Karlach, and me as a arrow shooting ranger, not had many problems rolling over folks, sure that will change. I stopped my first playthrough at the same point I am now, end of the Underdark, my save was giving me a corrupted message, though it still worked. Glad I restarted really, got my feet under me and now actually understand what the heck I am doing now What a game, just rammed full of worthwhile content. My Game of the year, not even close.

I'm busting some folk out of jail and it's a tough fight. Struggling to find a party combo that can deal with it. Think I may have to look for an alternate way...

No one would talk to me so couldn't find a way to swing the fight in my favour in terms of numbers. In the end I just positioned myself, Shadowheart and Gale on the high platforms and Karlach at the top of the ladder. Took a couple of goes to get the positioning right so I didn't get knocked off to my death. Needed a bit of luck with some critical hits too. Then I freed Nere and killed him before he even had a turn

Yeah its a touch and go one no doubt, I stumbled into the fight, as I often do, dunno how I managed it TBH other than badly, the whole event spilled into a new area which added to the bodycount Thinking about it there is a fairly well hidden ledge in that area with a hidden chest as well, could have camped up there and chucked stuff at them. Kept Nere alive myself, hope to murder him in the future though, something to look forward to!

No one would talk to me so couldn't find a way to swing the fight in my favour in terms of numbers. It may be that you have to do it sooner, but there are two duergar on a little platform at the top of the stairs to the same level Nere is on who are very unhappy that they're stuck there and just want to get paid and leave. You can talk them into giving you a quest and then they'll stage a little revolt when you free Nere, so about half the Duergar will fight on your side instead, making it *much* easier.
I completely missed it my first time around. On my second run I got their help and then immediately attacked and killed them once the first fight was over, because they're still complete arseholes (and I wanted the loot and XP).

Yeah, I spoke to everyone and they just told me to fuck off so I obviously missed the window for that particular quest. I did tell Nere there was a revolt and that's why all his followers were dead though. Not really sure why, I didn't stand to gain anything from lying. I killed Nere and now I'm a hero to those guys things in the underdark. And I got an inspiration point. Happy with my decision

I've made it to the Elfsong Tavern. And 10th level.
I'm at about 80hrs play. Which has of course involved a lot of random wandering to uncover all parts of the map. I'm sure a subsequent playthrough will be a lot quicker. And then the Tactical level playthrough for the final trophy will take bloody ages!!

It's a monster of a game. 58 hours and just emerging blinking from the underdark, so much to discover, just random shit, using the blink spell to get to weird places, but the developer has already left stuff there, usually something nice Had a Flash Gordon moment a few days ago, sticking my arm in a hole (Pfnarr) in the underdark

I failed the fight twice, once with him as a foe and once with him as an ally. I decided to come back to it later, went exploring further, did some long rests when needed and then when I got around to revisiting that area, he'd popped his clogs. =) I'm in a bit of pickle currently. I'm in Act III and I recently went to have a word with The wizard that had plans for the nightsong. Things got ugly, we handled it. I explored the tower and ended up in the vaults. Now Gale is stuck in a genie lamp. =/

So now I’m stuck on Grym . Seems I need bludgeoning damage, so I think I’ll have to load up an earlier save and change my set up. Which means I’ll have to go get the amulet again, but that’s no big deal really. Annoyingly, I was chipping away nicely enough with slashing damage, but he stepped out of the lava and effectively became immune to everything . I guess the trick is to move my guys around to force him back in. Bit annoying though.

Actually, if you play around with all the handles and levers before the fight, you might find a different solution to deal 'Massive (bludgeoning) damage'.

I'm in a bit of pickle currently. You can get out in a similar way to how the former resident did. Summon anything to replace you. There's a scroll around there somewhere if you don't have any other summons.

And the fact that it always attacks the last person that attacked it will allow you to lure it to a certain spot. That’s pretty cool. I was looking around thinking there must be a solution to this. I need to start thinking a bit more creatively.

There's a trophy for killing it without using the levers etc. Which I didn't get, so will need to plan for that on the next playthrough.

I managed to spring the prisoners from Moonrise Towers without getting caught, which was nice. I'm now in a big Mausoleum looking for a relic.
I know this thread is a bit gushy but I just can't get over how every single quest feels important. I've never experienced an rpg where this is the case. Given how absolutely huge the game is, it's absolutely nuts.
I don't even mind the inventory management anymore since I realised you can put pouches in pouches and pouches in rucksacks and rucksacks in rucksacks, which is pretty much my favourite thing to do (literally the only reason I played Tarkov was to do this).

I beat the big fella! Although I couldn’t create a second item even though I have the ore to do so. Which is annoying.
It’s now saying ‘am I sure I want to continue my adventure’. Can I not come back here then? The guard also said something about a lantern that I don’t seem to have.

Reading everyone making their way through act 1&2 has spurred me on to trying to make some inroads into act 3. I wandered around the city for a couple of hours and fuck me it's dense! I honestly almost don't know what to do - just need to focus on small chunks at a time I think! My GOTY also easily

Can I not come back here then? The guard also said something about a lantern that I don’t seem to have. You can forge two items but the forge was very buggy for me on my second run. I couldn't get it to work a second time and in the end had to reload and redo the boss fight before it would let me forge again. I looked it up, and for some it seems to be enough to leave the area for a while, or save and reload, but I had to go all the way back.
The elevator where you get the warning is one of three paths to starting Act 2. You will be able to come back to the earlier areas for a while longer, but if you haven't resolved the situation with the Druid Grove and the Goblins yet those quests will essentially fail (they conclude but in a way you almost certainly don't want them to).
No need to worry about the lantern until you're a bit into the next act.

Awesome, thanks. Those quest lines are all done so I think I’m good to move on.
I’ll try coming back to the forge later. Cba to redo the boss fight.

That all went to shit really quickly at the las light inn Despite multiple attempts, I couldn’t save isobel so ended up having to slaughter all the harpers, including Dammon. I hope that doesn’t mess up Karlach’s quest. . Not what I wanted to happen but couldn’t really avoid it

Not sure if you want to attempt it yet again, but I managed that fight largely by turning the boss enemy into a chicken. A couple of the other enemies tried attacking the cleric, but they were much easier to manage. And once they were done, I surrounded the chicken and beat it to death. I had a bit of a tense moment when the druid almost died, but otherwise it wasn't too bad.

I'd guess it's pretty difficult for her quest to not be affected if he's dead, if so...
