Shadowheart is my one true love. Speaking of which, I was expecting some extra romance action with her in Act 2... She says she's upset with the Shar situation so just hang back dude. Or something. Her heart is like, literally... made of shadows, dude.

I've started a second playthrough with designs on romancing the drow lady. Unfortunately, Gale... well, let's just say that I have a great book recommendation for him

Green skinned orc-y looking women hold all the cards Al. She did make it sound like it would be a hot night of action...

This game is causing me to have late nights that I don’t really need right now.
Still stumbling my way through combat a little but think I’m starting to get it.

I had an unexpected 'Game Over your party died' yesterday. I was trying to free someone at the time but I must've been doing it wrong because suddenly ... game over. =)

On a related note, if a party member dies and you don't have a scroll to revive them are they gone forever?

On a related note, if a party member dies and you don't have a scroll to revive them are they gone forever? I've no idea. Maybe you can go buy a scroll and then return to revive the corpse, assuming it's still there? Speaking of death. So far I had 2 instances where Gale snuffed it and some sort of automated holo-gale instructed me on how to revive him. The problem is, on both occasions I couldn't reach his corpse (which was yeeted into a chasm) to do as instructed. The only other time he died nothing happened and I had to use a regular old resurrection scroll.

I have him.
Been stuck most of the night on the spider queen in the blighted village. I probably should just walk away for now.

One tip for that fight, if you haven't thought of it already... spider webs are pretty easy to set on fire.

One tip for that fight, if you haven't thought of it already... spider webs are pretty easy to set on fire. Yeah I figured that out. It’s my first move each time as it will take out nearly a third of her health. Then I just end up getting overwhelmed. I need another tactic I think. I should also go long rest and come back so I have all my spell slots. My laziness is not helping me. I think I might need to change up party members too. I’m thinking Gale might be better than Astorian for this one. Also maybe lae’zel over Karlach

If I remember correctly, there's also some boots earlier in that dungeon that make the wearer immune to being webbed. Definitely something to put on your melee person.

Also if you have any kind of stealth sneak up behind the bugger and cast thunder wave (or anything with knock back) and just punt the sucker down the big hole.

Oh yeah, that actually feels like it would be the best solution, because you can jump down that hole too and presumably be able to collect the loot.

Got the boots as well.
I’ll mess around with some different tactics later. I feel a little luck is needed with their positioning on the webs.

Also, remember to destroy all the spider eggs before the combat starts

What slightly surprises me is that the scrolls seem to be so readily available and dirt cheap. I've never played 5e but in the early editions of AD&D raise dead was usually a PITA requiring you to quickly (within a day) drag someone's corpse to the nearest cleric and handing over a bunch of gold. Resurrection, rather than raise dead, had other implications but at least you could take your time it worked up until 10 years had elapsed.
I wish I'd realised a lot sooner that any ranged healing, even Lae'zel's rally, would get someone back on their feet without getting close, seems obvious really, doh.

I have him. Been stuck most of the night on the spider queen in the blighted village. I probably should just walk away for now. Twice I got her to attack while she was on the web bridges, then shot fire at her and the bridge burnt away and she dropped below. The second time killed her and my PC but that's easily fixed.
Not sure a spider should really take fall damage though.

I had used up a lot of spells in the earlier part of that dungeon. So a long rest was very helpful. Destroying most of the eggs before the fight was also helpful. Then I managed to send 1 party member stealth across the webbed bridge with the special boots on and surprise that bitch with a molotov. Still touch and go in the end but some elixirs to protect from poison and some fire to dip your weapons in can help to tip the odds in your favour. I'm a bit miffed. Did a HUGE fight yesterday, barely survived, 2 party members dead, 2 with a sliver of health left. Post-fight there's a cut scene and the game crashed to desktop in the middle of it. Restarted and the last save is from right before I entered that room. 40 minutes of progress lost and I got my ass handed to me on my second attempt of that same fight. :-(

Yeah she takes massive fall damage which is odd. I think I'll long rest and give it another go later. Problem is, soon as the little fuckers hatch they are all over you!

Unrelated but I had a small 'oops' moment yesterday. I'm sneaking about in Act 2, in the mind flayer colony. The intellect devourers I ran into weren't hostile but I attacked them all on sight just to be sure. The same with the mind flayers. I released Zevlor and a few other NPCs. Then snuck around further, clearing out the barracks. I then somehow got turned around and ended up back in the room with Zevlor and 2 other NPCs. I saw mobs from outside the room, surprise attacked them and only after I killed the first 2 and the last was on 1/3rd health, did I realize those were the guys I freed earlier.
My quest log has the Zevlor quest ticked as completed and I have some nice loot off him, so I guess it's all good?

Yes, I have a burning Hands scroll and thought that might be useful to learn.

With Spider Queen I got the drop on her by destroying the Web bridge which caused it to fall, take huge damage and go into prone right at the start of battle. Got Karlach and Laezel to lay the heavy melee hits in while Astarion and I went all in on arrows. Even got the trophy to pop up about killing it before it could hatch any eggs

Yes, I have a burning Hands scroll and thought that might be useful to learn. Use. You don't learn scrolls in this. They're a way of anyone being able to use a spell otherwise restricted to a spellcaster.

Oh, and be wary of where your team is with fire spells.
(says he, who regularly looks at Lae'zel's hit points and thinks "yep, fireball, she can take it")
