Well, I paid them off with promises of them getting to kill loads of goblins for me. But I think you need pretty high persuasion for it.

Not playing it, just wanted to point to an article on RPS:
Good to know, I suppose.

The first time I did it, goblins swarmed the intelligent one and managed to kill him. Which was a good result (better attacking him than one of my party members), but I don't think I'll get to use the horn again. Still, he sure dropped some good loot!

If it's the 3 ogres in act 1, I just paid them off. I used Barbarian Intimidation to get them on side.

I'm currently in the Sanctum sneaking around in the roof timbers attempting to stealthily clear out guards so I can rescue the druid dude.

Well, it's supposed to be buggy behaviour and what I've heard of bugs is that people have had very different experiences as far as that is concerned.

I feel like I shouldn't have killed Kagha.. as soon as I walked out the room... oops. I did the same. I don't feel it's affected my game too much. I'll keep her alive next time. What's this talk about 3 ogres? I think I managed to miss those. As for my adventures in the Shadowlands without a moon lantern... ... I loaded up Shadowheart with health potions, useful sounding spells, some headgear that give access to an invisibility spell, elixirs, speed potions etc. All for naught. The first few turns, the curse did 2-4 damage. Then 7-8, then 12-15. So after a handful of turns, I was losing so much health at the end of my turn that I couldn't recover enough health anymore. I don't think I was anywhere near moonrise tower yet. I've parked my game for now. If the missing bell bug gets patched, I'll pick it back up again. I started over as a half-orc barbarian. Good fun so far. Got off the crashing ship, ran along the beach to the locked door, got lucky with my 1 lockpick set to lockpick the door (which needed a roll of 15) and managed to narrowly survive the fight in the cellar. Barbarians are cool.

Did you try the other entrance to Moonrise, avoiding the town entirely and jumping over by the docks?

Did you try the other entrance to Moonrise, avoiding the town entirely and jumping over by the docks? I thought I did that. I went as far south as I could and went across some water but looking at a detailed map, I seem to have strayed the wrong way, leaving the tower on my left and heading into the town by accident. I'll have to give it another go tonight. I hope the curse isn't active inside that tower. /0\

Is this different to the curse that weakens you without a normal light source? It was a bit annoying bashing shadows with torches, but one of my cleric spells seemed super-effective.

It's a stronger version of it. Initially you need a torch. then you gain a buff (from Isobel) that means you no longer need torches. Then you get a moon lantern, which protects you from a stronger version of the curse where torches, light spells or the buff from Isobel no longer work. Alternatively, if you free the pixie, she gives you strong buff that can be re-applied by ringing a small bell. The bell disappeared from my inventory, so I'm stuck up shit creek without a paddle unless I can get into the moonrise tower alive and fix and find myself a working moon lantern or fix a broken one. Either that or wait around for a bug fix. I'm kind of having fun with my new barbarian character for the moment.

Cool. Left it last night just after being told of the Last Light Inn – which I think I can see in the distance. I found a broken moon lantern, but failed the check when inspecting the dust.

I kept the pixie in the lantern - was quite funny hearing her curse me throughout Act 2. I'm such a rotter.

Just bought this on PS5! I went for the Standard Edition thinking it unlocked today, but apparently it’s tomorrow… Oh well… I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.
Any recommendations for what class to pick? I like the idea of a magic build, but Wizard, Warlock and Sorcerer all seem (from what I’ve read) to be quite similar. I feel I need to use the delay before I can actually play it planning the all-important character creation bit!

All solid choices but the hunger of hadar warlock is an absolute beast.
Massive crowd control, a couple of excellent summons and a knockback with no cool down.

I went with Warlock. It has taken me a little while to gel with it, but starting to like it more. Has a couple of nice AoE abilities and now that my Eldritch Blast is more powerful (I've unlocked a modifier that adds chrisma to it) I seem to be able to hold my own. Eldritch Blast is handy, as it doesn't use a spell slot to cast, just an action.
Also, if you do use Warlock, remember that a short rest will refresh the spell slots. Other classes require you to do a long rest. I didn't realise this for quite some time.
Edit - Hunger of Hadar is one of the AoE spells I mentioned. Also, the daggers one is pretty good.

I found Warlock (Wyll) a bit dull because most of the time I was just spamming Eldritch Blast, only occasionally bothering with anything else (and then mostly Hunger of Hadar for CC or just Fireball/Flame Strike for AoE). I didn't play with him much and barely put any thought into his build, but if I wanted to cast lots of cool spells I'd probably go Wizard or Sorcerer.
Maybe Spore Druid if you want a bunch of cool summons (mushroom zombies, dryad, elementals, etc).
Light and Tempest Clerics get lots of powerful offensive spells (but you have another Cleric if you use Shadowheart).
Lore Bard can make for a good hybrid too.
I haven't even begun to think about multiclassing.

Have you put the knockback on eldritch blast as well? You can basically stop anything getting out of the cloud.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely look closely at the Warlock. I can see myself spending a good few hours in the character creator alone!

You can always respec into a different class if you don't gel with one.

I was flailing around with my character quite a bit at the start and it has only really been the last level or two (I'm about halfway through 6) that I've finally managed to get to grips with them - although I still regularly muck up, such as using my half my health to give health to someone else worm ability right after doing a concentration spell.

Combat could really do with a ctrl z! I just had Gale run forward and attack a phase spider with his staff instead of casting a spell. Did not end well

As it was the last thing I did last night I went back to those ogres and convinced them to help me without paying a single gold, I did have to use an inspiration to reroll my initial woeful attempt and then, as if by magic, a 20 appeared! Noice, I didn't even need the bonuses I had.

Just finished it, almost a week after I should have due to PC woes, but I was originally considering postponing the last stretch until the 2nd patch, so no big deal. It's quite a game. Basically the stuff I liked most about D:OS2 with a better ruleset and setting and significantly better writing. I can't think of anything (some bugs aside) that I actively disliked, which is a marvel for such a huge game. The ending was okay. Not great, but an okay ending to a great game is fine. I appreciated that the last stretch of combat encounters didn't drag on for too long (very common in RPGs). I can imagine if some of the ending dialogues were missing before the patches it would have seemed very abrupt, but the plot got tied up and most of the companions got their moments (the ones you pick up in later Acts didn't have much to say and one was completely absent). I think maybe a brief celebration scene where you got to go around and talk to your companions and some other characters you've met along the way would have been a nice addition. Some niggles: Make my choices for how my companions dress stick after resting and changing them out at camp. It got annoying having to turn on/off armours and silly hats all the time. Inventory and stash management could have been better. Better sorting, stacking and use of screen space. I spent way too much time moving stuff around.
The final villains: They're a bit silly. Orin is so murdery it becomes comical. Gortash is impossible to take seriously because he looks like a retired singer from an 80s synth band. And then there's the giant brain wearing a tiara. To be fair I'll take silly villains chewing the scenery over boring ones any day, but it would have been nice if I could take them just a little more seriously.
Raphael on the other hand was perfect. I'll be doing at least one more playthrough. Might start tomorrow if I'm in the mood.
