Man, sometimes this game looks like absolute shit. So I think there was fuckery going on in the graphics settings and I changed a couple of things after watching the Digital Foundry video on Forza and the game doesn't look half as blurry now. |

Battling for second with someone for a few laps when they nudged me from behind (steady now, act your age) and I was forced off track, the nudger went through as did the car behind them. Nudger then gave up second and third to slot in behind me in the spirit of fair play. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside

It’s… competent. I do like it, but I suspect Microsoft would have liked it to land with more of a whizzy bang type of presence. Can look surprisingly flat and last gen at times, but, pad aside, there’s a nice racing game in there and boy is it nice not to be dealing with the fussy plinky GT menus. Definite smear to things on the S though and the LOD’s drop off not that far ahead, it’s a shame for a game where picking out markers in the distance is an integral part of things.
I quite like the practice lap thing, the warm up it gives- “oh yeah, *this* track, with *that* corner”.

I was hugely disappointed with GT7’s scope and thus the game overall, but, half an hour in to this oh my word am I missing the PS5 gamepad. Forza feels absolutely dead in comparison, there were so many little ground/tyre/traction details coming through to your hands in GT, feel like I’m driving wearing welding gloves here 
Yeah, same here. The Xbox pad feels so Rumble 1.0 in comparison, just on/off buzzing, no nuance at all.
Yeah even back in GT4 on PS2, the rumble as you went over kerbs felt absolutely spot on. I find the rumble on the Xbox pad too much. It subconsciously starts to annoy me in a lot of games. I wonder if there's a global intensity setting somewhere. |

Surprisingly I’ve been half tempted to pick up a series X to play this. Would be mental too, but it seems to fit that pick up and play online racer that you don’t have to take too seriously. I quite like the spec races I’ve seen.
I really got into GT7 online, the racing is fantastic but I always felt like I had to spend time learning the track and car before I felt prepared enough to do the daily races. Plus I feel like a fair amount of players play on the wheel and I boxed all that up because it was taking up room. Plays great on the pad but felt like I was at a disadvantage. Even if I probably wasn’t.
I stuck on F12023 this afternoon to try and get it out my system and you can’t just hop into online races. Got to do all this other shit before hand. Wondering if Grid Legends might do it 😂

Frog's in bed so he can't stop me from playing. Anyone else on PC? Performance seems a bit unpredictable. Using DLSS? Mine turns off after a bit, hoping we get nvidia drivers soon. Also full reboot after changing settings like the df video said. That sounds like it would do it. Will have to check later. Been following the DF recommendations about restarting the game. Hopefully they patch the bizarre graphics setting menu into something more intuitive. |

I'm playing the career on my xbox until they sort it out, it's pretty good at 5850x1080 res with DLSS but as soon as it goes I got to switch FSR2 on performance and finish the race in a blurry mess.

Enjoying it so far but have audio issues (on Series X) - no sound at all for the first few seconds of a race, then engine sounds are very low, and adjusting in the audio options doesn't seem to make any difference.
Could really do with a useable mirror in cockpit view too, even if it was just a fakey videogame one that's fixed at the top of the screen.

The Rivals mode is quite good. Not sure if that’s new as I haven’t played a forza motorsport since the 2nd one!
Just been hot lapping around Barcelona in a E class Clio and I’m about 1000th in the world! Go me!

Having a pretty good time with the multiplayer; had a couple of enjoyable races even if people seem inclined to go for any small gap to overtake which means quite a bit of being punted off. I was S rated for a good while but now A after having got a couple of penalties for accidents I couldn’t avoid.
Some things don’t make sense to me / are odd:
1. No way to change the livery of your car part way through a series of career races.
2. Feels a bit “light” in some areas where Forza Horizon is now way ahead - character creator, photo mode, stats, heck, even the personalised number plate.
3. Replays totally broken.
4. The wait time on the multiplayer races can be a bit long if the one you want hasn’t “opened” yet.

There are the actual car mirrors, but they're practically useless in terms of actually seeing what's behind you. |

I don't get to be smug in racing games very often but I was Smuggy McSmugerson when I qualified a full 2 seconds quicker than 2nd place in my full lobby. The Capri racecar rules. Could drive it for hours.

Playing tonight and had a race go from clear evening to rainy darkness and it was pretty fucking great. Last time I remember getting these feels from gwafix was when Driveclub launched on PS4.
I don’t think I mind the practice laps either - although I really thought I’d hate it - since it plays into the CarPG elements and getting PBs in those segments is moreish.
I never really got much out of having a garage chock full of motors I never drove, so this system might suit me.

The pixel crawling aliasing in the distance is a bit off-putting on the Series S.
It's going to take me a while to get used to sim handling after being a brain dead Horizon player for so long.

Initially it did nothing, so went back in and changed it again to 25 which actually worked, so finally changed it one last time to 60. Feels a bit high up, but at least I can see the rear view mirror and one wing mirror. |

Not had them drop enough to make a pit stop worth it on a nine lap race. Pit stop is what, 20 seconds all in? Even at half way the gain would need to be 5 seconds a lap? Ah I get it now. On a GT race I was happily leading after the three in front of me pitted, I assumed they’d gone soft tyres. Was feeling smug with my mediums. On the last two laps my smugnesss, along with all the rubber on my tyres, completely disappeared. Came seventh |

I’m warming to this more- it’s a very visceral driving model, just wanged an MX-5 around a few tracks, slipping, sliding and having a blast. Lovely audio too. Negatives are still the force feedback- OK, there aren’t any nice haptics, but I’d love to be able to boost what’s there by about 200%, and the LOD stuff on the Series S, honestly, I wish I were joking- mid to long stance can be terrible and just a shade better looking than this  |
