I've only just noticed that if you use a missile and it explodes fairly near you, you see a reflection of Samus's face in the blast. I thought I was hallucinating for a minute. That's actually a reflection of your own subconscious. |

Yeah, lots of scanning. Couldn't remember the thardas fight at all until it started. I forgot about the stone hitting Samus's head when you've killed it!
I can't remember much after magmoor caverns tbh. I just remember a lot of big fights later, and some random places.

Just got the grapple thing, still loving it but the save thing is frustrating. Got quite far into the phazon mines, died and had to repeat the whole section so switched off and came back the next day to clear, usually with most games I'd carry on as you're never really that far from saving.
I do like how it doesn't hand hold with item locations though, it'd be a piece of piss if it let you mark locations. It does tell you places of interest from time to time which I find really useful though currently running around the map trying to find the next point that moves the story along.
75% scanning done, I doubt I'll get 100% but happy with that.

Again, I want the *option* to put markers on the map so I can remember to come back to a place later. Just like I want the option to save anywhere I want, or the option to move around the areas a bit faster without having to kill cunting pirates every time I backtrack through a room.
Have a super masocore traditional purist mode for the veterans, I don't care. Just give me options to relieve some of the friction if I want to.

Anyway, I just got the gravity suit. I'm enjoying the game, but I think I'm going to fast track towards the end. Most of the pick-ups are just missile upgrades, and I don't think I'll be bothered trying to get everything.

I need to double check my completion percent, but it was pretty low and I didn't really struggle with the last two bosses. Pretty much called it a day after I'd found the last energy tank. I'll give it another go at some point and aim for 100%.
Don't think I've ever actually managed a 100% items AND scans run in this. Always miss one of the scans no matter how hard i try to remember it on boss fights etc.

And yeah, I suck at it too, whatever. But even Dark Souls wouldn't make me repeat 20 minutes worth of game when I die. |

Ah man. My first playthrough of Dark souls cost me 40 hours of my life before I realised its a terrible idea to build a character with slightly-even stats and to just throw all the points into a particular area. I must have repeated early sections 10 - 20 times over.
Fuck that game.
*On my second attempt I beat the entire game in 40 hours, but still...

I've already forgotten to scan some bosses before taking them on, so 100% is out the window for me.
One thing that I have remembered though, is always use a fucking charged beam when you can. Saves so much on missiles and makes you dance better in combat.

I think 75% of all items is all you need for the full ending. 100% just looks nice on the save file.

Actually, started to second guess myself and went to check up on the facts, and 75% does get you something, but turns out I was wrong and 100% items is the true ending. 100% scans in a single playthrough just appear to unlock the art galleries. |

And having a giant area with tough enemies and a boss before you can even save, forcing you to repeat all of it when you die, feels a lot like 20-year-old game design. You managed it without getting frustrated 20 years ago? Good for you! But I can only talk about my experience. Which isn't all bad! - I would have binned the game long before now if it was - but is not all good either. And if I want to vent about the shitty, outdated parts to help get over my frustration, then I'm going to, in the thread that is dedicated to this game. Other people here manage to tolerate dissenting opinions to the love-in, you should be able to manage it too. |
