Hmm, I thought I was close to locating that, but I fear I may be stuck. Followed the map hint back to Phenandra Drifts and I cannot access the Gravity Suit: it’s blocked by ice.
Did I miss the fire blaster along the way?
:/
I’ve just come back from the other side of the map where I went underwater. There’s a watery tower in Chozo Ruins with a basement which I presume will let me take advantage of the grav suit.

The Gravity Suit shouldn't be encased in ice, if thats when you mean. Neither should you have to melt anything to get it.

Huh. I can’t seem to jump into its little nook. Wonder how I’m fucking this up.

Sorry. I could be more help. My memory is already a little vague, worringly.
The suit should be in a room at the far end of the map, almost entirely under water. There are tentacles everywhere and you shouldn't be able to see very well. Does that sound right?

Yeah, if you can actually get to the gravity suit room then you can get the gravity suit. I kind of autopilot it so probably not much help, but remember getting a bit stuck there back in the day.

You were both right. I got it: I was standing too close and was hitting some geometry. When I took a step back I was able to double-jump and get access.

It was pretty annoying being able to get aaaaall the way to the bottom of the crashed ship, and being told that I couldn't go further because I needed the Gravity Suit.

Yup. Quite a tedious backtrack, that one.

I know I harped on it before. But seriously... fast travel. Put it in a "remastered difficulty for scrubs" mode or something, I don't care. I just want the option to go between save points.

I agree more on the need to tag parts of the map for later exploration. I can handle the lack of fast traveling.

I agree with both, markers would have been helpful, as would some sort of fast travel--at least one fast travel point per area. Backtracking in this game can be really tedious as it takes ages to get to a distant location.
I also agree that the lack of progress on death sucks. I don't have much of an issue with it in the 2D games, but that's because they are more generous with save points. Losing 5-10 minutes of progress I can stomach, but in Prime I lost 20-30 minutes two times, most of which was tedious, unentertaining combat. That can just fuck off.

It definitely should save your progress on death. Even if it shoves you back to your last save point. But with fast travel you will almost certainly forget or miss a number of the secrets. Thats the general point on the series.
But yeah, Prime is a lot slower paced than the 2D games.

I think I am about to face the Omega Pirate.. Scan info indicates he is weak to missiles. I have 110 so hopefully that will be enough.

Also, I died recently for the first time in aaaages, possibly at all. Was being over-blasé about phazon damage in a little morph ball section. I'm sure there's a pick up hidden in there. Then I half-remembered that you get the phazon suit which makes you immune to phazon damage. So it's one to come back to.

Haha, I died at that point too. Vaguely remembered being able to do it with crafty use of boosting, but I clearly don't have the reactions of teenage me.
Can't remember if it's an energy tank or one of the 12 fetch quest McGuffins.

Omega Pirate down. It's a tricky fight imo. Switching visors and beams is a recipe for me getting flustered in the heat of battle and changing the wrong thing! Also, I find the button combo for super missiles is a bit fiddly. Getting old... Although, I probably found it fiddly the first time around. 😆

It's definitely fiddly on Switch. I don't remember that being the case on Wii.

This arrived today. Got it for my plane journey soon to hopefully make the flight less horrendous. High expectations considering how it's one of the best rated games ever. Just need the discipline to not play it for a bit over a week as I want to save it just for the flights.

I've hit 50% of everything scanned. Not entirely sure what scanning adds to the experience, if I'm honest, apart from when it gives you ways to beat bosses.

I think it might affect the ending or a cutscene or something. Feels like this is where Nintendo has missed something for completionists. On PS and XBox there would be a trophy/achievement for the scans which would contribute to the Platinum. On Switch there is nothing like that, which on more than one occasion has turned me away from the Switch version of a game. I like collecting trophies.

I used to be like that but when I got the series X i switched off all achievements and very happy with it. I used to waste hours trying to complete the list if I got near the 100 naturally and looking back I found that such a shit use of my gaming time.

I don't go for the platinum on every game. Some are too fiddly, rely on insane skills or a strong online presence. Most disappointing was Deathloop where the 'kill with gas' trophy seemed to be bugged.

I hate achievements, but I can't seem to help myself. I have to go for as many as I can. Annoyingly, I cant think of a single example in which I've got every achievement/trophy in a game and it hasn't soured the experience in some way. I love that Nintendo doesn't do this, generally. If I love a game enough, I'll become a completionist. I'll rinse a game for all its worth. I don't need my console reminding me of what I haven't done in every single game I own.
