I think for VS the mobile version may be best enjoyed after you've already got to grips with the controls/gameplay/risk reward dynamic with a controller.

I can't get passed minute 11. I feel like I'm butting my head against the wall, which I suppose is kind of the point for such an rng heavy game. But the one time I made it to minute 13 it was because I got super rng lucky with a bunch of empty tomes. Currently saving my coins so I can unlock the extra projectile power up, assuming that'll be a big power jump.

I'm usually only around level 10-13 at this point too which feels really low because for about 3 minutes I'm mainly just running as I'm not doing enough dps to kill the stronger mobs and the little bats and shit are gone for the time so I'm not getting xp.
Any tips? I'm still using the first character if that makes much difference?

Just keeping upgrading your base stats. Focus on getting every bluey. Garlic was my early doors friend. Library good level to grind. Unlock some new characters and try to get various weapons to level 8.
I've sunk hundreds of hours into this so it's actually hard to remember where to begin.
And don't worry about the twenty minutes thing, it'll come. Just focus on ticking off unlocking stuff and have fun with experimenting in the meanwhile.
Edit - if the first character is the dagger guy I think he's my least favorite of the whole game. Definitely try a different character either way.

Thanks for the tips mate. Finally unlocked starting with the extra projectile, which has made life easier. Hit L20 for the first time and just in general the game has been more enjoyable. Had been passing up garlic as the one time I took it it wasn't doing much damage (later in the game) but it's absolutely amazing for farming xp early which is why this run went so much better.
The first guy is whip guy (Antonio?). I like using him as his whip now does front and back damage, making routing through groups for XP easy for me which is helpful as I'm still only learning what's worth running through for a chest etc.

After reading your last reply I've been playing the library (still the same character) and have now done 3x 29.xx runs. Failing the 29m dps check but I imagine it's because I can't evolve my remaining weapons yet due to unfound items or whatever. Still been a lot of fun, thoroughly enjoyed the progress.

Kso I now can do consistent 30m (level 120+) runs on the first few maps with a couple of characters (haven't really branched out too much map-wise). But after around 22m I'm confused as to what to do because I've stacked as many evos as I can and I just need to afk for the last 1/3. Is this because I'm not playing new maps? Is this where the next challenge comes from? Mainly been focusing on farming coins for the passive unlocks.

Yep you're basically limiting yourself to the easiest maps and then asking why you are finding it easy going!
Also, those last 8 minutes can often be honing your build ready to beat Death. Best progression advice as per previously is to focus on unlocking stuff and then using the stuff you unlock.

I've had runs where I had all 6 weapon slots evolved and I still got instagibbed at 30, didn't realise you could beat him?! He just teleports to my character and kills me.
I've almost unlocked all the things I can with coins, will work on the objectives/maps now.

I believe you need a specific character or unlocked item, to be able to survive at the end.

They have their own specific evolution(s) that you need to beat Death. Id imagine if you've just been doing the first stages on repeat you may have many weapons/evos yet to discover.
