My hands are all cracked and dry from the cold weather and hand washing, worse than they’ve been for a few years. Just put some hemp moisturiser on and I can feel my pulse in my hands, I’m very brave

I used to find winter motorcycling really dried my hands out and I imagine cycling in the cold might have a similar effect, too.

It’s the cycling in the cold that mainly does it I think, definitely seems to make it worse at least

elstoof yeah, sounds familiar. Dunno if you already tried but someone recommended silk glove liners to me. I could never get on with them (circulation issues with double gloving) but I'm told they work. And really good moisturisers. 👍🏻

Luckily it’s mainly the right hand that’s shagged so I can still fret the old gitfiddle

I'm regularly using that o'keefes hand cream for manly men, helps a bit with my weird dry peeling hands.

Body Shop Hemp stuff is the best I’ve found, also not too greasy for too long like most

Think we did this in the other thread, but bog standard aqueous cream all the way for me. If I don't use it regularly, my hands crack. Expecting it to get as bad as my dad's, where he used to superglue the cracks together. S'what it was invented for after all I guess.
Body Shop hemp a close 2nd. But 3 times the price

I shall have to investigate that (edit: toof's hemp suggestion).
The skin on my hands has had a hard life, so any help it can get is good.

I've got loads of tubs of aqueous cream hidden about the house. I keep buying them in different shops as they're always cheap.
I even use it instead of shower gel sometimes.

Just leaves me feeling greasy that stuff, puts me off using it but it does work. Can’t stand that greasy feeling from most moisturisers, like I’m ecosse exuding his mucus

It's ideal for washing the old chap too. If you want to use something more than just water. 🙃

Wouldn't that make you ridiculously greasy? I guess if anybody breaks into your house and tries to kidnap you while you're showering you're sorted...

Aqueous cream is water based guys, it's not greasy at all.

The slippery little soldiers thread
I've always found it pretty greasy regardless of how much I rub it in. Currently using O'Keefes for my nasty chapped hands and it definitely helps. I'm crap at remembering to use it, though.

The best thing I've found for my skin (my hands used to be pretty bad) was to use Oilatum in the bath instead of soap

I’ve only tried it once, an old boy I worked with had bad eczema so he’d be constantly slathering it up to his elbows like he was about to deliver a baby calf. Don’t know what brand it was, probably Boots, but after rubbing my hands together for the next hour it put me right off ever trying again

Yeah, same here. Everyone's skin is different, eh? Indeed. Any brand of aqueous cream and my hands and lower legs lap it up like a thirsty spaniel, gone in seconds. Be glad when we can turn the heating off, that's what does it. It's not too bad in summer, with sun cream and whatnot.

Surely all that shoe polish can't be good for your skin, 'stoof?

I would agree that different brands are better than others, it's also cheap enough that you can try several different brands, I'm a bit like Dougs, I can slap it on and it just gets absorbed, think I use an unbranded one atm. I guess I come from an historic eczema sufferer stance though hardly get it at all nowadays, when the steroid cream was like bearing grease but rub away and low and behold and it completely disappears.

You’re ruining the Brave Little Soldier thread with this talk of moisturiser. This not brave or soldier-ish.
It’ll be talk of talc at this rate.

Surely all that shoe polish can't be good for your skin, 'stoof? It’s actually pretty good! Basically moisturiser, beeswax mostly. You can end up looking a bit Made in Essex depending on the colour, however
