I had blood taken twice in the space of 24 hours, the first private and the second at my local GP. I'm really not keen on needles so I was a bit apprehensive about it, especially twice in such a short time.
The first time the nurse asked me loads of questions, took really good care and checked I was okay. Afterwards I got light headed and she had to lie me down and get me a biscuit. Then she asked me to sit in the waiting area for 15 minutes just to be sure I was fine.
The next day the NHS nurse asked me which arm and jabbed the syringe in as soon as I said "left", swiftly took 3 vials and told me I could go now, all in the space of 30 seconds. But that time I felt fine. Didn't get a biscuit or anything...
It's weird, the overly attentive approach probably didn't help and may have caused the light headedness, as it made me think about it all a lot more. Whereas the indifferent approach probably helped as I had no time to worry about it, but I felt like I should have had a pat on the head at the very least.

Coincidentally enough, I had blood taken earlier this week too.
I was "lucky" that as I told her to use my left arm, I whacked my left elbow into a soap dispenser which bloody hurt, but which also numbed the arm quite nicely. I didn't feel a thing... Elbow pain aside.

I had some bloods taken the other day and finally managed to get over the being afraid of needles thing. Feels like it's been entirely in my head all along. I just looked straight at it as it went in and realised I've been afraid of needles for no good reason for decades.
Was still a bit weird seeing blood gush out of me so quickly mind you.

I give blood regularly and they always jab it in quick. Its far better that way. I'm not bad with needles but get quite apprehensive so it's better to get it stuck in quick.
Actually got a wee pinbadge the other night for giving 10 donations. I was very chuffed with it like the sad bastard I am.

I fell over. Like a complete cabbage too. I was jogging lightly towards my waiting lift when my ankle locked and down I went. Grazed my knee, damaged my trousers and seem to have 'twisted' my elbow/forearm, and it's quite painful.
Had the ice on it and will see what it's like in the morning. Had nerve and muscle trouble in my neck, shoulder, arm and wrist for years, but being a Brave Little Soldier I have never done much about it. Really know I should though.

Stubbed my toe on the corner of a wall at home not paying attention and that boy has turned a wicked colour. Suspect it’s a break, but went to work anyway and I’ve been Full Igor all day with it. Feet up tomorrow and ice packs. It’s the small toe so I suspect it’s a strap to the next one and carry on.

My left shoulder's fucked again after having surgery on it two years ago (just pre-Covid). I'm in a fair old bit of pain and dreading trying to get the same surgery on the NHS in these times. I had to push and beg and whinge before.
I have private medical cover now, but it's not included as it's a pre-existing injury.

I had a Frozen shoulder a few years back, I was put forward for surgery and ended up getting the OP done at a local private hospital (under the NHS), literally like a five star hotel. Incredible!

Both my rotator cuffs are a bit fucked too. Had 2 injections on 1 and it's ok. Useable now but still weak as piss. The other one I've not followed up as it was a ballache before. Am trying to remember to do the same exercises as before and see if it improves.

Yeah, my original op, I got the choice of the local NHS or a Nuffield private that was closer. Obviously I went for the Nuffield. The specialist was great and the after-op pain management far better than other victims I know who've had NHS ops recently and been sent home with ibuprofen. I had morphine and all sorts, bloody brilliant. On a side note, I can see how people could easily get addicted to painkillers as I felt great for the first time in fucking years on that cocktail of narcotics.

I've been self-funding some eye treatment not covered by my private medical recently too (what does my cover actually fucking cover - not much!).
The difference between the NHS opthalmology clinic, which was like something out of Soviet Russia with queuing to match and then a five minute appt and fuck off, won't you, for three months, and the three hours I had with two different specialists faffing over me at a Spire hospital was pretty amazing. But then, I'm paying for their Mercedes.

To be fair, they probably didn't have another 300 patients to see before the end of the day because budget cuts meant they were doing the work of 3 people with no extra pay. Sometimes being able to do the job properly for a reasonable wage is enough of an incentive.

I got put on an ex private ward on day 5 of my 'waiting to get a stent after a heart attack' adventure during COVID. Very different standard of accommodation.

Just noticed i seem to have lost a wee corner of a wisdom tooth. I was just at the dentist for a check up (got the thumbs up from that). Now it'll probably take ages to get an appointment. I'll struggle on though, cos I'm a brave little soldier. Unless it starts to hurt. 🥲

I doubt it will need max&fax.
I have been there though, for an impacted wisdom tooth extraction about 20 years ago.
45min of drilling into my jaw to dig the fucker out (with bit of jaw bone still attached when they eventually dug it out).
Not pleasant.

Had a blood test last week, results back today. High bilirubin in my blood. Been having pain down my side for ages (been diagnosed with a hernia a few years back and think it's related to that) but never got a doctor who would give me a straight answer. Already had an ultrasound of my kidneys which showed nothing but got to get my liver and gallbaldder ultrasounded as well now. One of these blood tests is to do more exploration of this issue and the other one is to try and see if my shite hands is raynauds or not and to rule out other causes.
I'm falling apart.

Sympathies, Wunty. Hope you're ok. Personally, just back from an MRI. I have apparently re-torn my right ACL. Joy. This may be the end of my football career.
