Had a big toenail and nailbed removed today. 4-12 weeks to heal which is nice and vague.

A walk in minor injuries unit is great for this kinda thing, if they haven't all closed down where you are. Or I did one myself once, they literally stick a tiny scalpel in it and squeeze it out there's really nothing much to it. This. I had a really painful testicle when I was around 26 and after walking around with a limpfor 2 days, my ex insisted I sorted it on a Friday evening. One taxi ride to the clinic and a little ball feel later (woo!) I had drugs to clear a blockage in my babymaker toobs. I wish there were more asstemps in this story

I've just had my ears flamed as a part of the Turkish Barber Experience (Not to be confused with Midnight Express). Frankly, it scared the shit out of me, as there was no preamble("and now, I'm going to wave a bit of burning cotton wool around your ears, to get rid of any crazy old man hair that may be sprouting in there"), he just went with it.

I quite like that, a proper Turkish barber is the biz, burning cotton hot towel, etc. Also, now as we're post Covid my barber (actually I think he's Algerian but the service is the same) is doing appointments which takes away a big chunk of the pain of going to the barbers for me, just can't be arsed wandering around town and seeing how many guys are in the queue before me, I'd often just find a barber who has the shortest queue but is typically crap or have to try again another day.

I've just been to the Turkish barber, didn't get my ears flamed, but he did wax my nose hairs, that's not a pleasant experience, I'm not sure I'll be doing that again. Hot towels etc. are great though

I'd like to get my nose hairs waxed at least once as it does look feckin painful for a few seconds! My barber doesn't do it yet, says he might in the future, how long does it keep them at bay?

But you need the hairs to catch the dirt, or you won't get any bogeys

I just ordered a nose waxing kit off Amazon, I will post back tomorrow as to whether I am a brave little soldier or not ...
No doubt other members of the Mercury household will delight in the experience too.

So my nose waxing kit arrived and nose has been de-haired, really not bad and hurt a little for about 1/2 second, much to the rest of the familys' disappointment, nothing to worry about and pretty effective.

I've been getting my hair cut at a Turkish barbers recently. Had no idea wtf was going on the first time and really wasn't prepared for the nose waxing or ear hair burning parts. The waxing really isn't at all bad though, I might get a home waxing kit too now that you've mentioned it.

I don't wax my nose hair but if I don't pluck out the worst offenders, it's like Dick van Dyke's soot brush is sticking out of there.
Same with my eyebrows now, it's like nightmare David Hemmings if I don't get rid of the ones that won't stop growing.

I would actually argue that waxing is less painful than plucking, I'm not sure quite why, I guess they're the same principle but pulling the lot out with a proper simple little handle thing just seems less formidable than single hairs somehow.

The idea of nose hair waxing terrifies me tbh, I have enough pain just pulling the ones out that grow from the inner rim near the septum.

It terrified me too tbh, social media seems inundated with 'hilarious' waxing videos but I gotta tell you, nose waxing (with a home kit at least) is pretty meh.

Got bitten real bad on my leg last night (by a mosquito just to clarify). My leg is swollen up and hurts to move. Or not move for that matter. I’ve soldiered on though like the brave little soldier I am.
All I’ve done is complain about it all day to anyone who will listen.

There are tons of mozzies out at the moment. Have chased loads around the house, the walls and ceilings are like a crime scene (zapper thing died, have had to go old school). Have escaped being bitten so far though

Yeah my right forearm swelled up something rotten the other day, didn’t even notice getting bitten
I fucking hate mosquitos/horse flys/etc - quite often they bite me on the golf course and when I notice I slap them and they explode in a splat of blood, proper disgusting little things

I really attract them for some reason. I was at football training with the boy and I could feel them all over me constantly. Got three or four bites but one is particularly bad. Swollen right up, red, itchy and very painful. Whichever one bit me is probably set for the rest of it’s annoying little life.

I got stung by a wasp AGAIN this morning while out for a run. I think that’s double digits now, 3 of which have happened while I’ve been asleep in bed. Their jihad continues, apparently. This time was on my calf so now my foot and ankle have swelled up Elephant Man style.
Ok so I might have destroyed several of their nests but they were on my property, fucking stripy bastards. Any more of these and I’ll become allergic to the little cunts.

I have a cold. As do my daughter and wife. They are wallowing in bed (in fairness, my daughter won't let my wife leave), I feeding it with booze. I may regret this.

Yup. And then we had the temerity to go on holiday. That's what you get for leaving the house for the first time in months! It's cool, definitely just a head cold. A very familiar, but somewhat distant feeling.
