Just read that the upcoming update will add ultrawide support on PC. Guess that's an incentive to get the PC version then.
And with the update coming up, as well as the success of the Tv series, it might not go on sale again so quickly. Well... it's time to buy then. The GOG version is cheaper and apparently supports all mods, so it will do.

Own the disc on xbox but its cheaper to buy the GOTY ver to get all the DLC and has been for a while. Also the conveyor/construction dlc makes it easy to dupe stuff. All my old saves had mod support, so no achievements can pop for the DLC, so started again
Also it felt good to leave the minutemen in the museum and just get the power armour, powercore and minigun then fast travel back to base

If anyone decides to buy this for the PS4 more specifically the GOTY edition be aware that in classic Bethesda style the game will crash as you soon as boot it up from the home screw due to the Automatron and Wastelander DLC being fucked. So you have to make sure you don't have those installed. You'd hope it's fixed for the next gen update but it's Bethesda.

If they have any sense, they'll take the Unofficial Patch and any other notable stuff from the Bug Fixes category that hasn't made it into the UP, give it a good scrutinising in house and clean up any code in those fixes that needs another pass, apply it to the next gen update and then credit those people when they release it.
Something tells me they won't though.

Tried to give fallout 76 another go today (last time I played was wasterlanders update) and you still have to do the very shitty main quests and the meh wasterlanders content to get to the new stuff. its a real shame we are not going to get a fallout 5 for ages due to bethesda has to make it and its been a lower priority due to 76 shite getting made, fixed" and supported then starfield and they are working on ES6.
Would rather play Fallout brotherhood of steel game than fallout 76

My opinion on the DLCs: Far Harbour is better than almost anything in the main game Nuka World is dogshit The building/settlement stuff isn't for me, but great if you're into that sort of thing I barely remember the feedback on Nuka World, but my impression was to just get Far Harbor as well. Seems to be pretty decent.

I saved Nuka World until last, and was surprised by how big it was.

Fallout 76 was made by a completely different studio under the Bethesda brand.

Fallout 76 was made by a completely different studio under the Bethesda brand. Yes but that budget and time could of gone into another fallout game eg Fallout New york (or even Fallout: Canada - I'm not your friend guy")
Its also like RE3 remake, they added some shite MP mode with the game that no one really played but RE3 got content cut

Bethesda Austin helped out with shoehorning multiplayer into the creaking engine, but the main game was still Bethesda IIRC.
It might not necessarily have been their A team throughout development of course....

I actually liked 76 until they introduced damned NPCs into it.

I forgot how janky Fallout 4 is. I'm not holding much hope for them fixing the jank in this patch.

I forgot how janky Fallout is in general. I'm not holding much hope for them fixing the jank in this patch. Fixed it. I've really enjoyed being back in the world. I wasn't hugely keen on F4 on my first run through and ended up rushing through the storyline. Having fun mopping up side quests and actually investing a bit of time in supply lines/building now.

I’ve been bouncing between FO4 and 76. I do like the map in 76, it’s nice to have a more normal one rather than the “in world” Pip-boy” one. Some elements of the UI seem worse though- I liked the North/South/East/West weapon selection in FO4, and adding favourites to the wheel in FO76 seems fiddly.
Also, do I really have to manually scrounge all the wood and metal I need for building in the early game? I ran out of wood building one small shack, and couldn’t see an easy way of finding more

After all @blue_Mike s references to mods making it playable. I loaded up Fallout 4 yesterday, was shocked me new setup with a 3060 Ti was getting incredibly spiky 30-50 FPS... Relative to whatever I owned in 2017.
Then had to go into an ini file to disable vsync, obviously not labeled as vsync and suddenly it's a smooth 120fps... Though reading around it sounds like that may extremely jank the physics.
Ah Bethesda. This is why I never pay full price for anything they make themselves.

The fact you need so many mods to make the game a bit more palatable says everything about Bethesda.
"Let the modders fix our creaky game" should be their motto.

Same really. There's just something fun about looting nearly everything, then popping someone's head off, to then loot them, and move on. I just love being a bastard in Fallout.

Might as well hang on until Thursday if you're thinking of starting it on any platform. I'd much rather start with a clean save on the new version than risk breaking stuff.

Played a lot of FO3 back on 360. Kinda of bounced off FO4 after around introduction of base building due to time constraints.
Have now got GOTY and waiting for the ultrawide update. Might look at some mods too - maybe survival and some ENB stuff.
Have a couple.of weeks off soon, so may be able to crank it then.

I've jumped back on Fallout 3, still plays well. I have also asked my son to do a couch co-op with me, where he plays and I'm there to be back up to explain mechanics/choices etc.

replaying f4 and as its quest design is so simple. Watched retrospective of new vegas and it highlighted the different ways you could complete 1 quest at the white glove society. I miss that sort of quest design

Fucking hell. The reason NexusMods has been so slow for the last week is almost entirely down to the sheer number of people downloading stuff for Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas.
