Fucking hell. The reason NexusMods has been so slow for the last week is almost entirely down to the sheer number of people downloading stuff for Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas.
I actually downloaded a bunch of mods for NV a few days ago, and it was fine!

Apparently the update should go live at around 5pm.

Between 5 and 8. So 9pm then because Bethesda. I'm trying to imagine how many things it will break now and will require further patches to fix.

Xbox is for bed wetters.
I dunno. I assume your preference of controller? And Quick Resume on xbox is a bonus.

I'm not sure if it's still the case, but historically the PS version has had more restrictions on mods. Can't say I've ever bothered with mods, but I'd personally go Xbox anyway for the controller. (well, and the whole already having it due to Gamepass...)

As someone who has never owned an Xbox I say go for it. Less restriction on mods as mentioned and if you like it FO3 has been boosted due to the back compatibility and New Vegas plays better than on PS so can give them a go. PS Plus versions play as shit as the PS3 versions.

Yeah, that's a good shout. If you think you'll want to go back and play the others afterwards then Xbox makes more sense. Not that you actually need to play every game on the same platform, but it feels weird drifting between systems within the same series of games.
I had a quick go at Fallout 3 a while ago and it holds up surprisingly well on Xbox.

There's a cool Silent Hill mod for the Xbox iirc that I'm annoyed I can't play on my PS5. Stupid Sony. I've got FO4 for my One X so not too put out but I just can't understand why Sony can't get their act together with the modding for FO and ES games.

I replayed FO3 there before/during the show, 8 or 9th playthrough but first time on anything other than PS3 and the difference on a Series S has got me considering buying one just as a FO machine, it felt like a new game.

Some bullshit about protecting their consumers or whatnot. Sony are super weird at times.

I fired up Fallout 3 on my series X last night coincidentally, and was surprised it runs at 60fps with the framerate boost mode. Edit - and at 4k too. Same with New Vegas apparently.

I can confirm - revisiting FO4 has actually made me appreciate Quick Resume all over again. I rarely see it because I mainly play always online games. Two clicks and right back where I left off- fantastic.

Similar, but you can dip in and out of multiple games with quick resume. Plus you can fully shut the console down and it'll still be there waiting to resume.
Moving house and then quick resuming a game a week later when I finally got around to plugging my Xbox in was a cool experience.

Can't say I've ever bothered with mods I wouldn't even start a Bethesda game without mods.

Yup. Steam update is 14GB. I'd installed it earlier this week - just vanilla GOTY and started it up to check it out.
They were right about the no ultrawide support! Looked hideously squashed.
I didn't want to go down the rabbit hole of mods that may then break after so am now looking forward to taking a look tonight.
Not expecting it to look anything other than a nigh-on 10 year old game, but it has been a while since I visited the wasteland and fancy something open world for a bit.

For anyone on PS5 who has the free PS4 version they gave you when you got your PS5 that doesn't upgrade to the PS5 version. Classic Sony.
