I actually tried FO76 for a bit after launch, even though I'd basically sworn off the series by then.
It was surprisingly decent, because it felt desolate and empty in a way that I hadn't seen in the series since the first Fallout. It was like the wilderness parts of Skyrim, which imo were the best parts of Skyrim.
But then people were like "muuuuuhhhhh, where are all the NPCs". So they introduced NPCs. And given that "anytime an NPC opens their stupid fucking mouth" is the *worst* part of any Bethesda RPG to me, this did not improve the game. Just the opposite, really, and it got worse and worse with every update until I quit. The live service stuff didn't help either.
(but I still liked it more than FO4)
Anyway, I'd take a remake of New Vegas, but not any of the other 3D ones. I think FO3 would look weird with good graphics anyway, that kind of thing isn't really something I expect from this studio.

I'm trying the lost world overhaul. Basically turns it into either stalker or metro (you can choose).

Fallout 76 was a massive turd at launch and they could of started a fallout 5 (iirc the main studio didn't do the main work but 76 was just waste of resources) Just give the IP to Obsidian or another studio in the MS cabal

I'm trying the lost world overhaul. Basically turns it into either stalker or metro (you can choose). turns out I'm not trying the lost world mod. Along with a good many other almost mandatory mods now, they require all the dlc. I only ever bought automatron. I've decided I'm going to pick up the season pass just to get at some of these mods so I'm waiting till it drops in price again. Not paying £27 when it's been as low as a fiver on many occasions. In the interim I've loaded up the Horizon total overhaul. Holy shit a lot of work has gone into this.

I've removed all the creation club stuff from my game. I have got some other cool mods on though that add to the game in a lore friendly ways.
Ammo breakdown & crafting - req gun nut Satchels & backpacks - req armourer FO76 encumbrance - not forced to crawl, use AP slowly to walk and can't sprint while encumbered Settlement beacons - craft beacons you can put in containers with a load of junk you've scavenged and a local settler will retrieve and return it to a settlment

I've been waiting for what feels like ages for a price drop. Decided to grab a GOTY key from CDKeys instead. 6.99. Done.
Access to Far Harbour, NukaWorld & more mods :-)

I'm still waiting for the current gen update before I go back in. My biggest problem with this game is my lack of willpower, every time I start a new game I tell myself I won't be duping the special book - but every time within a couple of hours it's 10's or more across the board (you can get insane stats in survival mode). One day though, I'll do it properly.

That sounds awful, rob. Just to make sure I don't do it by mistake, how do you dupe the Special book?

One day though, I'll do it properly. is this your own self-restraint that fails rather than an accidental game world bug? I'm finding the survival a right old bag of challenging fun. Healing is over time and now makes you thirsty & rad meds lower immunities meaning you can't just charge into situations or blast your way out of them so creative speech or planning is employed more often. Last night's simple excursion was over hearing a couple in the diamond city taphouse arguing and the man stormed out. Turns out the bartender has been schtuppin' his wife and he wants to confront him. I agreed to follow him inside as backup and got my 100caps upfront. When the bartender challenged me I just said this is 'Nowt to do with me, I'm here to watch' to which the husband realises I fucked him over. Did I say I was playing as the evil bastard? A gunfight ensues and the bartender kills the guy. He now wants me to cover it up and offers me the skinny on a drug shipment but we need no witnesses. I loaded up on food and water and head down to the meeting point to see 2 people chatting and 3 armed guards. I can't survive a 5 on 1 gunfight in survival and don't know how useful the bartender is. Since you can't save unless you sleep, I spent time sneaking around setting up some traps before lobbing a Molotov in to set them off. While they're dealing with the fire and bartender at one side I flanked and shotgunned them to death. After the firefight, I interrogated the drug mule Trish to find but that there is a secret chem lab somewhere but she wanted me to guarantee her safety, high speech lady that I am I pushed for the info first but it failed and I had to behead her with a machete. Had to. I swear! I looted the med crates, 60 each of mentats, jet & buffout and went back to diamond city to sell it all. I genuinely have no recollection of this quest on previous playthroughs but not being able to save scum sure does add some tension to proceedings. I'll be off to the factory to see if I can find this secret entrance later.

crashV👀d👀 Yeah, it's my restraint that fails. There's a way to turn the SPECIAL book into a moddable scrappable item which means you can use the scrap/store item dupe for infinite books, and using drugs/alcohol/survival mode to drop your stats to practically zero you can end up with 17/18 across the stats that matter. Makes everything after that a piece of piss - and it's cheevo friendly if you're worried about that sort of thing.

How significant is the update for this suppose to be? I've got it on Series X and am feeling a bit Fallouty but I might wait if it'll be worth it. Just an FPS bump (assume it's 30fps now?) or a proper makeover?
Might just continue my NV playthrough instead for now
Not feeling Starfield, although the mention of a supernatural element at least makes it marginally more interesting

Guessing the consoles don't get reworked texture mods?
One of those and ENB + preset and it can look purdy.
It's amazing how many glass bottles you find all over the place in this game. Never really cared for them before but now I need to keep hydrated, I'm hoovering them all up so I can fill them up with a water pump

Doesn't sound like much of an overhaul then
Nice of them to acknowledge there's still fixable bugs that they couldn't be fucked to do previously

Guessing this won't be for the console players but a heads up anyway, Fallout London, the overhaul mod for FO4 is ramping up for release at then end of Dec. www.vg247.com/fallout-london-mod-very-british-apocalypseJust read this article and it name-dropped a film that I'd completely forgotten about. Threads. I remember watching this back in the day, both for its content but also for the fact that we watched it as a class during school. The teacher recorded it and brought it in for us to watch. Guess times really were different back then .... o_0

Update delayed until next year. Probably to give them time to monetize mods like they have with Skyrim.

And also to make the most of the TV Show crossover interest I would wager…
Just wish they were remastering FO3 & FO:NV instead!

Spent years making an empty boring game in Starfield to then focus on their next project, a next gen patch of the game no one liked. Fucking hell Bethesda just do New Vegas!

After finally getting a fucking complicated series of console commands workaround for the level 4 unique trader recruitment bug to work, I finally managed to get all the bastards working in one settlement, including the elusive Rylee.
After that, I decided to look into possible ways of changing their appearances given that not all of them have the "Let's trade gear" dialogue option, it turned out there was a console command for that as well, so now I have The Scribe wearing an alternate, modded version of the BoS Officer uniform, Ron Staples the barman is wearing a duplicate of Hancocks' red frock coat, and Smiling Larry is no longer wearing filthy farmhand clothes, although I did discover that he had been hiding a fucking man-bun under his fedora all this time.

That sounds awful, rob. Just to make sure I don't do it by mistake, how do you dupe the Special book? Just seen this. This is the video I used. It dupes the same way as any other item using the scrap/store method - the trick is making it scrappable in the first place.
