It is incredible just how much of a self own this patch appears to be. No one asked for it, and instead of capitalising on the good will generated by the TV series they've broken the PC versions modding scene and the Xbox version's 4k30 modes. They've not even fixed any of the major outstanding bugs and in some cases have broken the community fixes.
It's very Bethesda.

I mean, if "breaking the 4k30 mode" translates to having the same presets but now running at 60fps I wish more developers would follow suit.

I can't believe they still didn't even fix the "it crashes on RTX cards if you enable spent bullet casings" bug... literally the most common kind of GPU.
They are just incompetent clowns.

I think there is maanagment issue at the company where "if its broken, fuck it, it might get patched as are games are broken as the game engine is shit"
I really like the fallout series but have concerns what it might turn into with the directon of the company

Not even 8 years of the Unofficial Patch ever managed to fix that one. I still have to turn that setting off or it crashes in the pre-war bit as soon as I get within sight of the little bridge and stream.

I believe the issue is that the quality mode is just the performance mode on the Series consoles. There are no quality settings whereas the PS5 has the quality mode, the quality mode at 40fps and the performance mode. I get it's not the end of the world but it's an odd thing where it's sunny but Bethesda are saying it's raining outside. It's weird.

Don't forget the fact Automatron can't even be run on the PS4(5?) for us OG players. Ended up having to do a full delete and redownload bar that one. Worked, plodded around some of the new stuff added, enjoyed the nostalgia vibe. Not enough to start a fresh playthrough though. Because I really don't remember catching on every fucking pixel of jutting scenery making simple walking about a chore.

This guys hi-res clothing and armour mods are quite nice, seeing as many of them look like hand edited textures rather than simple AI upscales.

Was that an issue with Automatron? I got level 15 last night and got the notification fine for me.

Anyone else on PC finding character's dialog is overlapping itself - like they don't finish one line before the next starts? That, and some odd looking speed to character movement/animation has me thinking it is running too quickly...

Wasn't that an issue in FO76 years ago? Increasing fps to run at warp speed across the map?

You are not alone, that's been mentioned in a couple of reviews of the update.

You are not alone, that's been mentioned in a couple of reviews of the update. I've improved it a little - set my monitor down from 175hz to 144hz then edited the Fallout4prefs file, changing the iPresentInterval value to 2. Think this locks closer to 60fps so the game engine runs more or less at the speed it should. Dialogue no longer overlapping - but still a little quick to start the next line.

Overlapping voice lines is exactly what happens if I run Skyrim uncapped. It seems the engine counts sample length in frames and it's supposed to be running at 60 fps.

I have the GOG version up and running with the Unofficial Patch, the ultrawide mod, a performance improvement mod, and a mouse fixer. That's a lot of trouble for one game.
But I think I should be ready to start tonight, at least.

Yep. Especially given how badly they fucked the Fallout London guys over. Feels like the PC patch should've been shelved completely and the others needed a bit more time in the oven.
Rushing it out to capitalise on the success of the show, but they've ended up just pissing people off.
They could've at least added an easy way to roll back the Steam version. Didn't the Resi2/3 updates allow that fairly easily?

Bethesda's engine has been notorious for tying scripts and physics too frame rates so I'm not surprised. I just cap FPS to 60 in their games, simpler.

Todd's recent comment about FO being all about the Americana and it will stay predominantly stateside for other stories seem to echo louder after they fucked over of the FOLON team.

I just cap FPS to 60 in their games, simpler. During gameplay yes, but as incredible as it is, capping the framerate increases load times. Even that seems to be tied to framerate somehow. My PC setup is such that I can toggle the FPS cap by pressing F7, and in FO4 I always uncap during load screens to make them a lot shorter. That and I also use it when I just want to skip through dialogue faster.

I quite fancy giving the PCVR mod a go (apparently stock VR version is terrible) but it seems I need GOTY and the VR versions on steam to do this as the mods rely on assets from both versions so even with CDKeys that's £16. Strong suspicion I'll play it for an hour and lose interest which is why I'm holding off
Anyone playing in VR? Thoughts on whether it's worth it?

It is pretty funny that the Xbox version is actually broken when it comes to the quality/performance switch.
