So it's TLoU day and HBO have released their first teaser trailer for the show after that brief amount of footage a while ago. It looks rather good and obviously expensive.

Hmm. Last of Us is one of about two games to actually provoke an emotional response from me, it had me in bits at times. Is Lyanna Mormont going to be able to pull that off? I know she was given absolutely nothing to work with in GoT like but she struck me as a bit wooden.

A comment on Reddit suggests season 1 will cover the first game and the original DLC story.
I hope it conveys the horror of that first scene faithfully, and does the giraffes nicely. I hope they can find a way to get real ones in.
I'm gonna reserve judgement on Bella Ramsay, and try not to pre-judge. I think the material given to her on GoT really was total horse's arse and she'd have been really young then, so there's every chance she can better that now I guess.
I've never played part two, I now want to buy a Playstation again as a result of this thread.

I actually played the first game not realising how that section ended, coming to game quite late and forgetting most of the promotional material/reviews. It was a real gut punch moment when I realised that girl isn't the girl that will be in the rest of the game. Hope that viewers of the show get the same experience. Looks like there are a few shots in that trailer that could well be from the section (there is a shot of street and a big explosion that is likely the petrol truck and another of Joel carrying a kid that I don't think was Ellie down a similar looking street). Really looks the part, although I wonder how much it will be able to differentiate itself from other zombie/post apocalypse films and shows. |

I keep meaning to replay Part 2. I think I prefer it to the first one.
Its probably structured more like a tv show than Part 1 actually. If certainly felt paced in a more episodic and long form way.

Part 2 took fucking forever. I'd like the TV show to delve into the story we don't know - the Fireflies, Joel's criminal career, etc

I look forward to all the people who haven't heard of the game and know nothing about it bombarding all the socials and whatnot about how woke the show is when they find out Ellie is gay. The other people who know about the game will subsequently lose their minds when they find out that Sarah is not white.

The thing is, they must have a plan for what to do once they complete the first game's plot. US tv renews the fuck out of stuff, well past shelf life, so there'll have to be things between TLOU 1 and 2.

Strictly going by game length, they could make 2 seasons out of Part 2. So that would be around 30 episodes. HBO has done such short shows before, e.g. The Leftovers.
