Tekken 8

Maybe. It looks stunning, but 7 was my least favorite Tekken ever, so if they keep leaning into that auto combo and desperation moves side, I don't think I'll enjoy it too much.

Virtua Fighter 6 when??

I know it's being made, possibly F2P and it may be just called Virtua Fighter in a reboot kind of way. From what Harada was talking about it may be around the same year as Tekken 8.

There's a story mode, but it's kind of terrible. It's told from an annoying journalist's perspective. If you're interested in the Mishima saga specifically though, I suppose it's worth a playthrough.

The actual individual character stories are only about 3 fights, then an ending.

The did my boy Eddy Gordo bad with his 'Story' ending with a fight against Lucky Chloe.

Characters I hope don’t return:
- Lucky Chloe
- Eliza
- 2D guests

I didn't mind Geese, but Akuma was out of place. So were all the weirder guests, like Negan and Noctis.

Akuma had better narrative integration, but his play style was out place. Geese worked better as a Tekken character, and that first time you face him, with the sliding doors and his theme blaring felt epic to me. Or maybe I'm a Fatal Fury fanboy, either way.

We both made the same mistake

I'm still mad about how Harada fucked Ono over Tekken x Street Fighter. Kind of soured me on this series, tbh.

I mean, it's Tekken. It's the meta.

You cant really blame Harada for that. Capcom absolutely shat the bed with SFxT (although it did come good eventually) which spooked the money men and Namco couldnt work out a way of making their version different enough from Tekken to not split the playerbase.

The blame, really, lies on the suckass state SFxT was launched in (which is a large part of why ono isnt there anymore).

Wasn't it only 1 fight per character?

(not to mention that the endings were almost all shite)

I remember it being 3 fights too. Maybe a handful of the characters were just one?

I'll never understand why they didn't just have the normal 9 or 10 fights. The cut down "story" for the non-Mishima characters was absolutely fine (in keeping with the series tbh), I just simply don't understand why it was condensed to 3 fights.

Although it's interesting how many people think other than story mode T7 was online-only. Read a few comments on the T8 announcement and you'll see how common this misconception was. Apparently people don't remember or never cared to find out what Ghost mode was.

Imagine assuming that those 3 fights were the only single player content for your favourite characters when there is literally endless SP content right there.

Or not even that. Literally one fight after the other with no context would have taken next to no effort and would have been in keeping with the previous games.

Absolutely baffling decision.
