Haven't really played a tekken properly since the third but getting older has meant the nostalgia pull is strong.
Can't wait to waste 70 quid on this and only spend half an hour with it when I realise I haven't got time to be learning combos.
Looks bloody nice though.

Luckily for you they are introducing a single button combo mode which can be used across all game modes and in tournaments!
This does look good although it seems odd that she has guns now. I mean how do you actually block that?

As someone that knows nothing about fighters, I picked up Tekken 7 after managing to get a cheap arcade stick and had a good time with it. I was terrible and lost probably 80-90% of the few dozen online games I played, but it was still fun (those few wins I did get were likely helped by the mechanics that Spooky hates). I didn't try much of the single player content though.

Being a casual player myself, I have quite a few little and not so little annoyances with T7, but it's still a great game. My second favourite fighting game actually, after Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection.
Speaking of annoyances, "I wish it was more aggressive" was not among them. They pretty much lost me on the announcement of Tekken 8.

I didn't love 7, it didn't keep my interest for very long and there didn't feel a huge amount to do. Netherrealm have moved the bar for single player content.

If you want it just for nostalgic reasons, you can turn on the Tekken 2 soundtrack and put King in his white overalls/blue button down outfit.
I don’t like how it plays, as everyone has mentioned, but the treasure battle or whatever it was called was a big time waster. Rank up your characters and win money and clothes.

If at least the AI was up to shit. Didn't take long until I (casual) had like 90% win/lose ratio on the hardest setting. It's about as hard as beginner level online play. Going from SP to online play is always a shock because opponents actually block your attacks. The AI just eats mid and high attacks all the time even on the hardest setting.
iirc T5DR's put up more of a fight, but it's been a long time. I need to dust off the PS3 and play that again.

In the last few weeks, Namco have been been dropping character introduction trailers on random weekdays - likely ahead of the first "public" playtest at Evo Japan in a couple of weeks. Here's a round up if you missed them! I've got to say - the game is looking like a lot of fun. I think a personal highlight is the more flamboyant King!

I usually love playing as the Mishimas, Paul and Marshall Law, but out of the videos above I'm most excited about King.
