Ah right, nice one. Not come across those yet. You get your first one by completing a Tree of Whispers set Re glyphs,complete a Nightmare Dungeon and you can assign XP to one of your glyphs as part of the rewards. Cool, yeah, got about 8 glyphs now What is a nightmare dungeon? Is it just a dungeon in wt3? |

One you’ve drone a whisper, you’ll see. It’s a Sigil that drops. You consume it to turn one named dungeon into Nightmare Mode which basically gives all the baddies an upgrade and also a little boost for yourself! Better loot. Harder challenge.

Yeah, call me weird but I actually kind of like a good pop-up flurry. It's just another way I can see the carnage I'm causing  I do see how looking at it for the entire game could grow old though. |

What sort of NM dungeon are you all pushing? Of course it’s all relative but I can manage Tier 21 at level 70 with a couple of deaths (oh hello Mr Butcher!). Maybe 22 or 23 if it has good affixes.
Is this ok? I feel like it’s bang average? Does this mean my build is holding up or is it weak? Just curious what others are experiencing. For an online game, it’s pretty isolated most times.

Hard balance to strike though, I get grumpy when someone is interfering with me lining up a group to get murdered because of how my build works I'm 83 Rogue with a ~very~ sub obtimal build* but I'm starting to push the 40s *I can murder 100 mobs in a single press in the right set up, but I need to have perfect conditions all the time. |

I'm 84 and I'm also in the 40s now. I have wonky gear and I'm confident my paragon is a bit messy.
I easily did a 43 today but then a 39 completely rinsed me. It's all about the affixes. Stormbane *shakes fist*
The combat is still satisfying regardless and I love bouncing around trying to line up piercing shots through acute angles

I keep thinking that I just cant be fucked but I don't have another game to go to at the moment This is what happened to me, albeit a bit earlier (early 60s). I think the loot is currently a huge problem in this, very little of it feels special or like a meaningful upgrade. I'll come back for the season with a different class. But right now I can't be fucked continuing with bear boy. |

I'm the same as you danno - I can absolutely murder anything it throws, but it has to be just the right conditions.
I'm just plodding along with it and will see how I feel when the seasons hit. I'm sure it'll be easy enough to decide.
I do want it to work though, because it's very good.
We need to sort the clan/
Party voice chat out though. Crashvoodoo gave me a hand earlier and he probably leveled up 5 times while I was typing a response

I love the game, but I'm not quite sold on the endgame hamster wheel compared to D3 (not launch D3 obviously!)
I've kind of drifted away from my sorc at 63 and just can't bring myself to sink more time into it. Taking a break for a couple of weeks before the season makes more sense.
It needs more of the sudden spikes in damage output like D3 had when you slot in another set piece or get a specific legendary power.

I did the first section of the Capstone no problem, then got mullered three times in a row by the first set of enemies in the second area, so sacked it off. I'm still getting shit loot as well. Like properly shit. Up until now it was a good mix of crap and alright stuff. Now it's just crap. Maybe I should go and do some Tree of Whisper stuff. I feel like a bit of a break though. According to my PS5 I've done about 45 hours on it. That feels quite a bit more than I thought I had but if it's true, it explains why I'm getting some ennui now. |

Tree of Whispers, Helltides, and Gacha Oobols seem the best ways at my admittedly lower level - you can at least target or choose slots that you need an upgrade for. If you’re just hoping for drops from random mobs and bosses I’d expect it to be much more variable.
This being Blizz I’d imagine they have something in mind for this. The open world structure means they could convert a bunch of existing content into super content just to satiate the masses if they had to.

A step back for now might do you some good if you feel like you're grinding to a halt mate, always sucks to get trapped in a negative feedback loop.
The current drops I'm getting -60 ~ -120dps/armour than what I got in the lead up to finishing the campaign. Opened two of those whispering tree boxes and the loot in those was similarly shitty. Granted I only did about 2 hours of play after failing at the capstone dungeon but I think if I can squeeze in any additional hours this week I'll just do the side quests and altar hunting instead of trying to grind for better drops in WT2 since the season starts soon.

I'm confident they'll fix things because as they've said they're going to support this for years but I don't think season 1 is going to be the 'shake up' season. It's sounds like more of the same without the campaign and a small event tacked on.
Even during the Dev talk they fully expected to have us doing all the renown, statues, fog of war each season and have backpedaled so hard after feedback (vocal backlash).
Their idea was to have a different event each season be the refreshing change and it absolutely baffles me they didn't see the community seeing this negatively. They have had 10 years of seeing how their main competitor does things and how it has constantly evolved and they though nope, well do this instead. I'm all for being different but you still need to fill that void.
What it does have over PoE is the diablo backdrop, the quality art, graphics and sound along with some chunky and intense feeling combat. They just need to add more to it continuously not repeatedly add a bit and take it away.
I'm fine with the gear options and grind to get better gear but i feel the scaling system it's sat in is the wrong fit. All you end up with is a slow smooth curved graph upwards and outwards. It needs to be a spiky graph as you get intermittent power spikes from new gear.

For me, the loot problem isn't a matter of the numbers not being high enough. It's that the legendary equipment doesn't feel special when it drops. The unique items are cool, but there's not enough of them.
And also that half of the affixes are dumb shit like "do 15% more damage when you have a barrier", not stuff that actually meaningfully changes your skills or build. This is something D3 did really well, so I'm not sure how they've managed to take so many steps back.

It does sound like the Malingering Sharts, or whatever, in the upcoming season are exactly that. They've literally described them as "broken" (which is both bold and fucking idiotic, but there you go) so I imagine spikiness is coming our way. On the seasonal realm, at least.

Yeah, it's not turning me off the game permanently or anything, I'll come back for season 1.
I basically trust that they'll get it right eventually, like they did with D3. But right now I'm more interested in other things on the backlog.
