Being introspective while you watch porn. That's being old Just getting the job done as quick as possible. That's being old. Wondering if you're able to finish getting the job done at all. That's being old.

I realised the other day that Wu-Tang is older to my kids than The Beatles were to me when I was their age. Don't say that. That makes me feel really old.

Doing the school run, seeing most of the parents looking pretty old and realising I’m the same age.
I was always told the school run would be swarming with young hot MILFs, not 26 stone 45 year olds.
(For clarity I’m not 26 stone or quite 45).

Also music is always the worst one to make me feel old. I always used to think my parents had lost interest in music and we’re out of touch in the 80s but they were listening to Billy Joel, Springsteen and Tina Turner.
These days I’m listening to Springsteen and loads of bands that were most popular 20-35 years ago.
I guess I’m supposed to be listening to things like MachineGunKelly to be the modern equivalent?

I fucking hate the school run, that said now I've refined it down to dropping him off at a nearby bus stop in the morning and when collecting him arriving a bit late after the rush and parking in the same bus stop and running in to collect him 5 mins late avoiding any contact with anyone except his teacher.

My mental development basically stalled at, I guess, 21, 22. My cynicism and general tiredness of life odd probably of somebody twice my age.
I think my life peaked at university. Made a decent animated short film that was shown at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival (in the different category and it didn't win), since then - 17 years ago - it's been a gradual side into obsolescence and mundanity.
So now I'm just a man child regressing into my past on seek of some comfort, painfully aware of how fucking embarrassing I look.
Unlike most people on don't even have any other big life events to really mark my progression into middle aged. No partner, no kids (and tbf I'm determined to remain child free), mortgage. That doesn't really bother me, as frankly those aren't massive aspirations of mine, can take it or leave it. But it does mean I don't have any real milestones in the last 15 years or so to delineate the passage of time.
It's overlapping into The Depression Thread so I'll stop my whining there.

I have this weird quirk about music, where it doesn't matter if it's good or not, if you're more than 5 years younger than I, I shouldn't be listening to it. I think it helps that currently, a lot of artists, or actors or wrestlers or whatever are in my age range so it still seems the "standard" entertainment age to me. But like Billie Eilish as an example. I've never actively listened to her. I was in the car with a friend a few years back. A song is playing, I ask "who is this?" "Billie Eilish? Do you like it?" "Yeah, I guess." I know damned well my old ass shouldn't be listening to Billie Eilish.

It's a bit depressing when you realise that actresses in milf porn are probably a decade younger than you. Yeah I guess... maybe watch some GILF porn just to balance it out?

I've always loved Springsteen (well, up until about the Rising, anyway, after that his catalog is patchy) and I don't care what anyone thinks 😁

I wish I had some logic behind it. I just feel very "how do you do, fellow kids?"

My playlist in the car starts with some 50s stuff to modern day but probably about 80% is 80s. It was a revelation to me about 8 years ago when I finally realised I pretty much only like 80s stuff, all of a sudden I could give up trying to find new music to like when I had a massive pool to draw on already.

I'm surprised no one's asked if anyone has grey pubes...so do you? No, but I saw a grey nose hair the other day and nearly had a heart attack. Good thing I was at a hospital at the time.

Jambo's got grey pubes
And judging by some of the other posts, most members haven't got any pubes. Wonder if that's why. Makes sense now

Veet is surprisingly popular on this forum.

I remember my (much) older brother talking about seeing his first grey pube and thinking I've got aaaaages before I have to worry about that... Still don't have any thankfully (and won't have any pubes whatsoever when I get around to the Veet)

I started going grey (on my head not downstairs) before I was thirty and while becoming like Reed Richards in that respect was a bit annoying that early at least I've still got a full head of hair 20+ years later.
I'm like George Clooney now* with my salt and pepper hair.
*Unfortunately not with the fame, money, talent and great wife.

Would you guys really rather be 18 today? 2 of your arguably best years wasted because of the ronas, and anytime anything remotely interesting happens at school or at a party everyone whips out their camera phones.

18 year olds also missing out on the joy of coming home from a night out and completely reeking of tobacco smoke even when you may not have even been a smoker.
Poor bastards.

I'd hate to be 18 today. Too much social media nonsense.
I honestly think i and my peers had the best timing. The benefits of the internet but able to escape the worst of the hideous popularity contest that social media creates. I honestly think that sort of system would make me very insecure.
