I don't know. I didn't get anything at 40, but have the poop smear test and the psa test in the offing for next year. Hopefully not a prostate exam via a sausagey finger up the arse these days! I've had all that and more this year and it's not even a special year 😦

I guess I'm due for all that end of this year too, but somehow I am suspect the GP surgery might not be as on the ball as they should. Often have to chase stuff.

Half a year into 40 and nobody had asked me to do any tests.
I am registered with a GP but have never been. I do wonder if they're even aware of my existence.

41 a few weeks ago and nothing yet, seems a good idea though.

I will go if/when they tell me too, I'm just concerned they'll find something hideously wrong.
Which I know should be a good thing, but there's some comfort in being willfully ignorant.

I got letter too but every time if call up to book one they have no slots and I’m asked again to try a month or two later.

I'm 51 and just had my mot results back about 20 minutes ago.
I'm very pleased to say that I passed every single one, along with the blood tests for liver, kidneys, prostate etc and my overall cardio vascular score is 8%. She said it was a better result than her own and I'm to do whatever I'm doin going forward.
That's probably the best news I've had for years. Peace of mind about something, finally. Now I just need to sort my broken head out!

Had my 40 year old MOT recently as well, took them until I was nearly 42 to invite me mind you.
It was pretty worthless for the most part, aside from finding out what my cholesterol was it was mostly a blood pressure check, weigh-in and interview discussing family history to determine my risk factors for various conditions going forward. Very little testing of anything to be honest.
I have since however had a full blood work up from the quacks after something completely unrelated. That was the full monty, HbA1C, FBC, Liver Function Tests and more besides.
All clear thankfully, I need a bit more iron in my diet, but that aside nothing to report.
Gave them a scare with a resting pulse of 38 mind you, haha!

Blimey 38bpm, I thought my resting pulse was low at around 45-50. Do you do a lot of cardio?

Blimey 38bpm, I thought my resting pulse was low at around 45-50. Do you do a lot of cardio? I've been running pretty religiously (and more recently cycling) for about 17 years now. They caught me in an abnormally relaxed state in fairness, usually at rest during the day it's mid 40s.

I went for a little afternoon nap with my Apple Watch once, just as I was drifting off the thing started blaring a siren and told me my heart rate was dangerously low. It wasn’t after that

The only good thing to come of my current state of pain and them not knowing what the cause is, is that I’ve had a bloody thorough full body check over the last couple of years and all is good. Even had prostate checked via MRI so hopefully no need for a fingering for a bit.

No need for a fingering, anyway.

40 year MOT done and green ticks across the board. Have to wonder how drastically different it'd be if I hadn't stopped drinking last year and hadn't started regular exercise...
1% cardiovascular risk, which is the lowest he's ever seen.

Well, I can give you a rough guide. I've been drinking 5-7 pints every day and smoke 15-20 rollups every day for years and years (told them this) and my result at 51 was 8%. Thats with good cooking (no takeways) and minimal exercises (couple of walks a week) So there's a rough guide mate

How do you get one of these MOTs? I’m 45 and haven’t heard anything about it

Varies by surgery, but mine sent out a text and I called to book an appointment. Some send out letters.
I'd just give them a call and ask to book your NHS health check.

Not had one either. I did get a hand up my arse last year though but I instigated that. I'd quite like an MOT now.

I've only been to my gp 4 times in 18 years so when I called in to get signed off from work, they picked it up then and booked it in.
But yeah, just ring your gp and ask I guess

I'm 52 and haven't officially had what you're calling an MOT, but I go to the surgery about twice a year for hypertension and cholesterol checks, the most recent of which actually included a more-comprehensive-than-usual set of blood tests, the results of which they happily handed me a paper copy, so I think I'm in pretty good hands.
None of those hands have been up my bum yet, though...

You don't need bum exploration anymore - they have multiple ways to do it. My prostate test was done via my bloods for example

Yeah, nearly 41 and didn't know these existed. I'll give my GP a call.
