So far, I've only tried this on Xbox Series X (can also test on PS5) and it seems to have some stability issues. The game will drop several random "Something went wrong" soft-crash error messages and one time crashed altogether to the dashboard. I do prefer the Xbox controller and plan to purchase this on Xbox, but I hope they fix these errors prior to release...
As for the game itself, it reminds me of Bloodborne in that it rewards aggressiveness instead of playing it safely; I've only reached the birdy boss (which destroyed me and my NPC companion), so eager to see more.

Yeah, I got the error a bunch on Xbox. Also there seemed to be network errors for me, as it didn't seem to be online despite it being an online only demo. Or at least, there weren't the purple graves to avenge other players' deaths as there was on PS5. I didn't really have any issues on PS5.
I played both versions on graphics mode, and to my eye, it looked a bit sharper on Xbox but it seemed more stable on PS5. I found both playable though.

Watched ElAnalistaDeBits' video on this. Apparently both Series X and PS5's resolution modes AND performance modes top out at 1440p60fps, with the exact same level of detail, draw distances, shadows etc. The differentiator in the modes is that performance modes have a dynamic resolution that slightly dips to try to retain the 60fps lock, where resolution mode sticks to the 1440p ceiling with slight dips in framerate here and there.
Resolution mode feels good to me, but there's not much between them either way.

Really enjoyed this, as expected. When you're in tune with it all, it feels and looks very fluid. I died a number of times to the end boss alone, but when figuring out the parry windows, I was able to beat him without losing any health. It was exhilarating. And it scratches that itch of encountering some tough bastard but finding equipment to even the odds a bit and finally getting it.
But its not without issue. I think the parry window seems a bit too tight and the punishment for whiffing was extreme. I also didn't like how parry and dodge were both on the same button. Level design was a bit bland like in Nioh but the little added verticality was appreciated. Some other small things like equipment weight, I know in Nioh it dictated the stamina recovery gauge, but what does it mean?
This stuff will get figured out in time of course, this team is good at adopting feedback from these demos. And no doubt they will have another demo too at some point.

I think the big thing is that difference between what you properly parry and what you deflect, e.g. combos from larger enemies. It feels unsatisfying to get the timing on the first hit right and then get mullered by the next four; I think that learning what you block and what you parry is going to be important. The red flash has properly got me into a Pavlov's dog situation from Nioh 2 though, you can tell they want you do hit more of those big counters.
Really looking forward to this one. Not decided whether I'll buy on Steam or jut get a few months of Game Pass though; the engine for this runs so poorly on the Steam Deck in general, which is a shame as Nioh 2 was a game I was looking forward to getting back into. To be clear, the Deck's clearly powerful enough to run it, it's just a weird inefficient engine; Team Ninja are decent with it but (for example) Gust games top out at about 60% GPU use in the 20s fps, not because it's jammed on the CPU doing work, but because the renderer's so badly programmed it just randomly stalls fduring rames multiple times for no reason.

I’m looking forward to seeing how they reconcile them clearly trying to make stealth a viable play style (having a stealth stat, enemies with a tiny cone of awareness and an awareness meter) with getting absolutely shat on by the bosses.

I'd really like a crouch button. Trying to walk quietly with the stick alone was just too fiddly so in the end I'd just try and find a wall to bounce up and try and do a plunging attack. Again, I think they've realised how satisfying those are and with the more vertical area design they're letting you do that more often, especially with the ridiculous amount of distance they let you cover in midair and still hit them..

I reckon crouch is probably on the to-do list. There were a few things that seemed broken or missing.

I wonder if it's them trying to find a place to put it - since they moved sprint to LS rather than having three functions on one button. I don't think I'd mind having to hold B to dodge/deflect into a run if that means I can crouch though.

Finished the demo on the Xbox Series X and it's systems are not as confusing as Nioh's, for me at least; though, it could be that it doesn't have that Ki Pulse nonsense I could not care to handle in Nioh.
Loved the chances for "death from above" attacks (especially on those tigers) and it seems that -unlike Sekiro- you can farm and level up if you are that way inclined. Combat does not encourage button mashing, as I initially thought, since your stamina is replenished if your attacks miss their target and has a nice rhythm to it.
Apart from a crouch button, I would like dodge and deflect to be on different buttons (but it could be my bad timings). The fact that same weapons and armour may have different stats/effects could be baffling and there're lots of magic/stats/items I did not use, but as first impression was positive; JuniorFE liked it too and completed it in one session (the little brat)...

Might be old news, but this just popped up in the Gamepass app under „coming soon“ (well, spring).
Hadn’t expected this to be on GP.

Actually it was announced as a GP title earlier this year, which is nice for those on the fence

New demo's out on all systems. Briefly tried on PC - it's as rough as you think but the new parry window makes it much easier to play.

Tried on PC. It's stutter town, and probably not just the shader compiling kind, because it seems to happen very much at random. By the way, it's unplayable with mouse and keyboard, unlike Elden Ring. I despair that games nowadays seem to have a gazillion different commands. I'd prefer they kept things a bit simpler.
It runs better on Series S, though it doesn't look very sharp.
Gameplay is at least a bit less complicated than Nioh (there's no different poses for one), and the deflect window is fairly generous, but I don't like having to double tap to dodge. Still not sure about the skill trees, distributing your points among obscure stats, cutscenes between boss phases, etc.
Well, I dunno. Maybe someday, if they fix the technical issues, I'll be willing to face all this needless complication.

As much as I love Nioh 1 & 2 I just can't get excited for this yet. Don't think I'm in the mood for a souls-like even though I know it will be immense. I think Elden Ring burned me out last year. Even the thought of going up against bosses right now is stressing me out. I also couldn't work this out with the last demo for some reason. The extra bar in the middle of the screen just confused the hell out me and it may be one system too far for my ailing brain. Even Nioh had me gripping the controller like a maniac trying to remember all the buttons.

Yeah, the vast amount of commands bothered me. It's like, here's your light attack and heavy attack, and your parry and dodge. Oh, you want powered melee attacks too? Got you covered, several kinds. Magic? You get four spells at once. Super magic? Just press the same buttons as in Ninja Gaiden. Why, you have some other kind of super magic if you press the other two buttons!
I don't know, there must be lots of people who lap this stuff up, given that Nioh was successful and Team Ninja has apparently turned into Fromsoftware Hardcore Edition. But I think I'd like to see a no-frills, Ninja Gaiden-like game again from them.

It just plain doesn't work on Deck due to codecs but even then the title screen maxes out at 30 in minimum detail so I'm thinking I might just buy this on the windows store as it'll let me play on my Series X too.

It sounds like the Windows Store demo lets you limit to 120fps while the Steam one only goes to 60. Bizarre stuff.

Set the PS5 to download the demo so I could play over lunch and it’s got the old one and won’t let me start it. Bloody space age. Edit: make sure you get the version with the very slightly different thumbnail…..

Been dying to play it again since the time-limited demo, and I can‘t wait for the release. Not sure yet if it‘s too fast and difficult for me, but after several hundred hours of Nioh/Nioh 2 I am reasonably excited.

Finished the first level. Boss took a few tries but it’s that classic Nioh feeling that once you beat it once you feel like you can beat it very consistently. For all that it loosened the patty window the game in return expects you to do it a lot!

If nothing else that proves these games, no matter how hard they get, are still easier to react to than the endless boobytraps put in your way when you try and type a sentence using the iPhone touch keyboard nowadays.
