I think in terms of internal politics, Koei Tecmo taking the “real” Dynasty Warriors away from Omega Force after DW9 and giving it to Team Ninja would be a pretty massive snub.

So Nioh meets Sekiro plus more, minus finding leather shirt #64 except this one has +0.5% fire resistance*? Sign me up (to toss it on the backlog, I guess )

I don't know what JonFE was going on about above, sure I would have liked a "Nioh Warriors" but I'm hardly going to bash this one for not being that

*not that I minded Nioh's loot system but it could get pretty ridiculous at times...

That looks super fun and even more aggressive than Nioh 2. Definitely a day 1 purchase, especially since they're not delaying the PC version this time around.

There's a limited time demo of this out now. I'm downloading the pricking thing. Can't wait to give it a shot.

Only had time to play a little but man, this is an aggressive game. Everything ties to your stamina except the fastest way to replenish it is either successfully hit the enemy or parry them. Enemies close in very fast and you die really fast. On the other hand if you gain the upper hand with a good parry you can completely trounce the enemy because you can start using your big moves without worrying too much about your bar. Really fun.

Edit: graphically it’s still a bit rough. It’s got that fuzzy TAA/reconstruction from something like Stranger of Paradise and it again maxes out at 60fps on PS5. Given the short parry windows I’d like to see a 120 mode. You can see what’s going on though, which is an improvement on FF! I think the PC version will have DLSS so we’ll see if it can get there; my 3080 has trouble maintaining it on Nioh 2 at 3440x1440.

Edit 2: the morale system is really interesting too, the way that enemies have it too (and it changes based on your and online players’ performance), the way it unlocks moves and the interaction both on the per-fight basis and throughout the larger battle could result in something really cool. The whole system seems to really emphasise gaining and maintaining momentum.

It’s interesting and I’ll have to play more but as long as you keep landing hits the game actively encourages you to keep hitting square. As you build up excess stamina/spirit with that you can then do your heavier attacks and magic.

Yeah. This is Nioh 3 only in china and a few different systems. Love it.

Combat doesn't feel quite as responsive as Nioh. Almost as though there's a bit of input lag. The dodging and stuff feels a bit off at the minute.
