retro74Cheapo foam roller can work wonders too. Got a decathlon or sports direct(spits) near you? They brutalise your quads, hams & calves pretty well if they're tight. Hurts, but in a good way (after) and definitely helps!

A big TK Maxx will often have them too
I still can’t comfortably wear a shoe or walk so restarting running feels a long way off right now. Its pretty much my ideal weather conditions and I’m working from home so I’m taunted pretty hard.

Probably day to day now for me if I carry on for the whole of September
I did #15 today but when I said my left knee feels “locked up” earlier on in the thread I was hoping it would “unlock”
Unfortunately it feels like there’s a load of fluid around the knee or something - very weird. I can’t squat down or anything but I can still run so I’ll carry on for now and see how it goes

In all honesty man, and I know how frustrating it can be, sounds like you need to take a few rest days. I was able to fire on through my coldy flu thing but if I'd felt anything from my legs, that would have been it. Too many injuries in the past make me shit scared to push through anything.

Hah, all too well. Even if you just dial your pace RIGHT back for a few days, may help?

That’s what I’ll do. For some reason I had loads of energy today and wasn’t short of breath at all which was nice, so pace was decent
Will do 5 days of slow ones and see how it is after that

Nice one, hopefully that helps you. You might be surprised and it receeds after a couple of days.
I took my day off today. Wayhey. Feels weird.

So despite one of the main reasons for running being the whole mindfulness, clear head space away from it all thing, today both of my boys insisted on joining me for the first mile (that's all they're capable of atm), I mean I can't say it's not nice to be in demand as soon as I get in from work so it seems unfair to complain but really it does kinda bugger up the activity.

Christ. 10 miles for the first time in a while. Either that or it was the heat, or something, but that was horrendous. I recently gobbled up that distance without thinking but that one there was utter shit. Thought I would keel over at the end.

Not running sucks. I'm having to rest up now due to really bad shin splints on my left leg. Was hoping it would go away so I kept running on it for a few weeks and just made it worse. Don't expect to get back out before January. How's everyone else going?

Not at all. My morton's neuroma flared up again in sept/oct after fucking off and letting me get back up to 10km over summer.
It's balls, think the issue is resolved, only for it to flare up again.
Got some nice new brooks shoes recently, so will try again over the xmas hols and see how i get on.

That sucks chaps. There's nothing more frustrating that wanting to get out and not being able to.
I'm still plodding along averaging 20-25 miles a week but my pace isn't what it was. I've given up trying to fight it now and just relaxing into it so I don't piss myself off.
Started to do longer runs at the weekends again so hoping that I can build up and get fast enough to put in a respectable time at next March's half marathon, with a view to tackling the full one in October next year.
Dunno though. I'm not exactly in love with running at the moment and I'm mainly doing it because I feel shit if I don't

Just got a brand new pair of Brooks Ghosts myself heh. Looking forward to giving them a go. I think my previous runners being about four years old and worn to shit was partly to blame for my injury in the first place.

I've been trying their Bedlams of late. Not too bad. Bit tighter than the Adrenalines though so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep with these or swap back.

I haven't run for weeks. Just can't find the motivation at the moment. Was meant to do a marathon on Sunday but didn't even fancy turning up. 🙁

What Brooksies did you get? I tried the Revel 5 (neutral & springy) for more cushioning to see if that helped it. Never tried Brooks before, but my missus swears by their shoes. I used to prefer Mizuno wave riders, but they seem quite hard to find & I prefer to try on if i can. I had to order brooks online, since all the shops round here only do ascics, saucony, new balance and nike etc, which I don't really like, so maybe I will try some more mizuno online since it worked pretty well tbh. The fit is nice and the returns if they're not right seemed fairly easy. +1 for our new online shopping overlords

Think it's about 6 weeks since I ran, just have no motivation, too depressed with house move/work/kids acting up to care, putting plenty of weight on too. Argh.

See that's the problem now. It's going to get so slippy. I hate running when it's slippy dammit.
I might sack it all off over winter this year. Genuinely not sure I can be arsed with the darkness, the cold and the ice.

My usual routes all have me along the pavement until I can step off and onto nearby country trails and farm tracks. Those off road bits are fine and crunchy but these few icy mornings I’ve pretty much had to walk the pavement section very slowly.

Thread bump for the new year. Who else is getting back into it this January? I'll head out tomorrow on my first run for about six weeks following injury. Should probably just do a couple of km to test the water, but will probably get carried away and do more out of misplaced enthusiasm.
Just been to the supermarket and bought lots of healthy food too, which feels great after living on booze and chocolate for the last ten days. I think I was starting to get scurvy.

Yeah, trying to pluck up the motivation to head out. Just got over covid, so fighting a feeling of being overly tired vs the in my head can't be arsed.
Did manage 5km 3 days ago (first run for a few weeks), was a slow jog at 31 mins though. Well down on my best from last May of 22 mins 20ish seconds. Not sure I'm ever going back to that level which is kind of the problem re motivation.

Funnily enough, I did a 5k a few days agoafter leaving it 3 minths due to morton's neuroma.
Went ok. The gym/rowing/cycling meant i was still fit enough for it, but my thighs feel quite sore.
Hopefully, that's me fine to run a bit more again, since I've had no pain in the foot.

Day 1 of C25K done. I don’t care if I’m a January cliche, I need to get running again or I’ll be 15 stone by the end of the year.

I'm doing 1000 miles for charity. I've done 200 so far. It's going to take a while. Especially as I've woken up with another cold.
However, I'll get there.

I've never ran before but am looking forward to starting. I will be doing a very slow progression so won't be killing myself.
I have asthma as well that seems aggravated by outdoor training but I'll take it slow.

I've got a treadmill and cross trainer which we have facing a TV on which we watch virtual runs around the world together. It's quite nice and not affected by weather or darkness and my asthma copes.
