I've just been for a run, I wanted to run further than I did (5m) but my cursed shitty and a little overweight and tired body thought otherwise. Still I have the next two weeks off work so I'll be heading up to Dartmoor a few times a week at dawn for some trail runs.

I bought some new shoes today
ASICS gel kayano 27 or something - can’t believe how expensive running shoes are
I’m going to wear them for work if we ever go back and in the office, get my moneys worth

I started running again the last couple of weeks after almost exclusively cycling for the last 18 months. Pretty horrific really, doms for days - i had some sort of cold a few weeks back which wiped me out and then turned into a sinus infection so probably not the best time to put my body through it, think I fucked myself up a bit. Anyway, thanks for listenening to my red talk, good chat folks

The first run is always the worst. Your next one will feel much better.
I'm trying to properly get in my groove again. 18 miles so far this week over 4 runs but I think I'm going to try a half marathon tomorrow and see how I get on. Not done that distance since February or something.
And yes @retro running shoes aren't cheap but there's no better investment for a runner. You can make savings on other parts of your gear but you want good shoes.

Yeah I always buy ok ones. However my ASICS gt2000 were only about £70 and have been great
These new ones were £150, even new gt2000 were £120 so I thought I’d upgrade as it was only £30 more

I know it does seem steep but mind they'll do you for a good 400-500 miles. That's the other reason just to keep them for running, you want to know when to replace them so it's handy to keep tabs of the mileage.

Went out with the local running club's Easy 5k, and even though the pace was no sweat, my quads and calves the day after were beasted.

Gonna start a new run streak from Monday. 5k minimum every day. Anyone else up for it (with your own distance/frequency)?

I'd love to but with the kids, time for running is limited. Can we include a tracked 5 aside game? I start a new job with a nutrition analysis software company tomorrow so maybe I can do a daily run at lunchtime.
Feck it, I'll give it a try if we can include the football. I doubt I'll get beyond 5 days due to the kids but might as well try.

I did my first run for 6 months today and I was shit before, even worse now. 3.4km in 33 minutes.
I’ll chip in on this thread to try to keep myself going but it’ll be infrequent for the next couple of weeks, not every day after that either.

My mum ordered them but managed to mix up size and qty, so was a bit surprised when 11 pairs turned up! Not had a chance to try them out yet though, as have managed to trap a nerve in my neck / shoulder which is fucking agony. Doesn't seem like a good idea to run and risk setting that off again. On that topic, has anyone ever used a chiropractor? Sounds like a load of old bollocks to me, but a chap from work and some members of my family swear by them. I'm not convinced and sticking with physio for now, but am wondering whether I ought to give it a try?

I’m up to ten miles and my goal is to go half marathon length before an upcoming operation puts me on the shelf for 6-8 weeks.
My running shoes are sturdy, comfortable and cost about £50-60 I think.

I'm not going to get over confident and fuck up 3 days in, so I'm going to go with 5K a day as well. Sounds good. Is there a total number of consecutive days we should be aiming for?

My previous record is 40 days, but I think 30 days is the most common target. Did my first one this morning and my left calf is worryingly sore so I'm already doubting myself. Let's see how we go... good luck!

Right, I'll aim for 30 days then. Never managed anywhere near that without a break before so it's a fair challenge. Run 1 has just been completed. It's on!

Really lost my momentum at the moment which is not helping the marathon training. Hopefully a change of scenery, running along the beach on holiday will help.

Been off running for the last 3 months for various reason, finding it difficult to motivate myself. Anyway new girlfriend dragged me to a parkrun thing at the weekend, which was all a bit weird as I'm only used to running on my own. I've also never been timed, or even checked any distances I do. 5k in 20.55 which is apparently alright. Need to pull the finger out and do it more regularly again, legs stiff as hell. Also need to get better shoes, I'm not sure the ones I have will remain in one piece for much longer.

Goban Perfectly respectable time, good going. Yeah there's something about a parkrun that just doesn't appeal to me. Probably the whoel running with other people thing. I like to just go out and zone out. Although I notice one is starting up again near me and I was toying with the idea of going along. Rich I'd love to go running along a beach. Sandy one, obvs. Typically the time years ago that I did actually live near one, I had no interest in running. Change of scenery should certainly help though.

It wasn't a bad experience, just strange. The social aspect is quite nice after the last year, although far too much chat about running.

Ok, well I got one in yesterday, have a game tonight and will soon for a run tomorrow too.

I have constant low level back and neck pain and I found chiropractor was much better for it than physio and I could feel a difference with regular appointments. For something more acute like a trapped nerve though I’m not sure, think it’s just one of those things you have to try for yourself and see how you find it. On running, I was hitting my stride getting fit for the new footie season, did 11km 3 times in a week and was feeling good and finally into a routine but having to self-isolate until the end of the week, boo. Absolutely itching to get out for a run, hitting it hard as soon as I’m free!
