Well it sure looks pretty! Do pick Frame Rate though - can’t see much difference between the options, but it’s noticeably smoother using the FR option.

In really liking these longer demoes of games (lies of P and now this), it really gives you a good opportunity to get to grips with the game as it is intended.
Looking forward to trying this later tonight.

Wondering whether I’m going to download this demo. I’ve already preordered. Might as well wait the extra 10 days and play it fresh on day one.

I think I'll play, the curiosity is too great and maybe dabble once with the combat trial but not too much, I'd rather unlock the skills naturally and build out from there.

Only played a little bit of the demo as I don't want to ruin it for myself on full release. I'm going to stick my neck out and say this is going to be a brilliant game unless there is some sort of FFXV 'we had five minutes left to finish the rest of this game' like pacing change halfway through again. Liked the theme, liked the change in tone, liked the combat despite being the biggest turn-based stan there is.
Basically, let's hope it's actually finished and it could be a big return to form for the series.

I would check the demo out but I wouldn't have time to properly enjoy it and it's already on preorder anyway, so let's just hope it's good.

I think it’s just his hair actually, which is weird and distracting.

All signs pointing towards this being great. Pre-order placed via Ebay UK @ £50 PS5 disc copy via Game Collection using the SUNNY15 discount code if you are interested!

I tried this briefly. The lack of lip sync to the Japanese voice track has completely put me off the game. I know it's a me problem but I haven't spent 25 years learning Japanese to play a Final Fantasy game in its original language treated as a dub.

I want to get it day one but I still haven’t finished Zelda, and to be honest playing two biggish games back to back might be overkill. But it looks great and good to hear people like the demo.

I had this issue with Valkyrie Elysium too, but apparently the sync on that one doesn't match the English dub either...

It seems ok so far. I’m not blown away. It’s a long way from being DMC meets FF, early on anyway.
Looks surprisingly ropey at times too. The framerate is a bit hit and miss and there’s a lot of pop in.
Whilst still interested, the demo hasn’t made rush out and hit the preorder button.

Still lots of Zelda, really enjoying Street Fighter and going to be starting Diablo 4 soon, so don't really have time for this as well. Likely won't get to it for a little while. Was even considering holding off until the inevitable PC release. It does sound really good though, so likely will get it sooner.

If you switch to Japanese is he still called Clive? If not I might change it.

Yeah, that game was clearly just the absolute bare minimum that they could do because of the budget. Even then it was closer. I enjoyed it as well!
Ironically, it's one of a bunch of Square Enix games where they convinced me to put my money down with a demo but this one's put me off. Still, I think they're financially doing better overall for that, at least from me.

Yeah, I enjoyed Valkyrie Elysium, it was flawed but the demo let me know what to expect (and I bought it after its price dropped a bit). Not tried the FFXVI demo yet but have preordered the game for the family.

Elysium gets really good when you play it the way it wants you to, swapping attacks based on elemental weaknesses. It becomes really fun.

I mean, if they’re designing this to be their Game of Thrones, English is its native tongue, just as it is with Capcom and Platinum’s titles. If we’re just going by country it’s made, lot of games these days should be voiced in Polish or Swedish. and maybe they should, to be fair. But it’s the whole, reach for the wider audience thing.

Normally when I play a Final Fantasy demo (and that's all I've ever played) I think "well that's fine it's just not for me" after this one I was wondering when the next ebay code for The Games Collection is going to turn up as I think I'll actually go for it this time. Played it in quality mode and it certainly seemed to run fine in that, heard the performance mode was a bit variable and I don't have a TV with VRR so didn't bother, its 30 FPS didn't bother me at all and as it's not a shooter (well not exactly) it played nicely.
One criticism though, yet another game that completely fucking ignores my profile setting that I invert Y, seriously I'm not sure why Sony bothered putting that in as PlayStation Studios games are pretty much the only ones that bother.

Pending on it absolutely falling apart at some point, I'm confident in saying its gonna be my personal GOTY. Not even finished the demo but I am so completely aborbed into it all.

Not remotely invested in Final Fantasy as a franchise, it has never drawn me in.
Played the demo and must say I liked it, very game of thrones, nice presentation throughout, might be enough for me to buy.
Not sure if that is a good sign for the FF diehards

I have seen a fair number of people thoroughly unsatisfied it isn't a turn based RPG as of old or that the setting hasn't got sci fi etc. But I've heard this for as long as there's ever been any mainline FF game. Even FF diehards opinions differ on what's the best one or what's the worst. I don't like IX when many people say its their favourite. Some even like XIII *shudder*

Played again up to the first boss last night, because I'm weak. Totally sold on the combat, I love it. It's action but retains just enough Final Fantasy to not feel like it's lost its soul. If they've actually fleshed out the story in this one it's going to be excellent.

Apples and Oranges tbh. This is completely action based. No skill queuing, no time freezing. Heavily combo and timed dodge focused. The fights against tougher enemies with more HP feel really tactical. I generally hate hack and slash games or anything where you've got to remember umpteen combos but this feels really accessible and stylish to me. They've somehow completely changed to an action style but still retained some semblance of FF in there too.

Your summon abilites are your big flashy moves that operate on cooldowns as opposed to FF7R where it was a meter you had to build up. The idea is to use your sword and fire abilities to lower the enemys will gauge and stagger them, giving you the opportunity to go all out. It encourages you to do so as a damage multiplier keeps building for each hit, ideally you wanna save the big hitting abilities towards the end as a finishing move with big damage. Unline FF7R, dodging is more of a main mechanic as opposed to a roll that sort of avoids attacks sometimes. Dodge at the last second and you get to come back into the enemy with an immediate counter. In a group of enemies I had dodged a fireball and used the counter to land on a different enemy and keep going. In theory you can go through fights undamaged, something which I don't think is really possible too much in FF7R.

I'm the same as Whizzo. I normally bounce off FF pretty badly (apart from 14) but I really like this. Bosses are a little bit spongey but other than that it's great.
