Neve is undoubtedly attractive - I'm watching a playthrough on YouTube, not playing it myself, just to be clear - but I'm with peacemaker re her voice actor and personality. No love for Harding? Not *one* member of the good ship Font Geek has a thing for freckled dwarves? I find that hard to believe! I’m hard for Harding (even tho my Rook is female).

I’ve played about thirty hours now. Working on various romances. The very first time my partner sees me playing during this time is when I finally get it on. Get it on with the giant muscular taash. I mean what are the odds! Obviously the scene was really cheesy and awkward to just put the cherry on top.

I'm too early to even decide yet, not have I met her yet, but I have the feeling Taash will be the target of my flopfooted advances.
I think tis due to not having romanced Karlach in BG3

I like all the companions apart from neve but they are all sub par versus mass effect team mates, baldurs gate 1,2&3 etc.
I don’t agree with skill ups don’t recommend review at all but I get most of his points. His points haven’t stopped me saying this is a fun game I’d recommend but it seems most of his negatives just affected him more than me. Even when you chose the negative option it’s still pretty mid. Only once has the game let me be aggressive and choose a path against the obvious one.
In some ways this is just a great action adventure game that should be looked at closer to god of war Thor than baldurs gate 3. The only rpg elements over god of war are the excellent companion quests, I feel this is fleshed out better than most rpgs and deserves credit. Just finishing off emmrich quest and feel like each team member and an interesting quest line and maybe that’s its best achievement.
Still a while to go I think but it’s a high 7 or high 8 depending on how much action or rpg you want but for me it’s exactly what I wanted right now so I’m loving it.

I'm pretty much full time Bellara and then the second person is based on whoever's zone I'm in. Harding becomes the second member when I'm in Crossroads or somewhere the second person doesn't matter because you get some background on what the Inquisitor and Inquisition have been up to.
I like it this way because of Bellara being a bit clueless and it gets me a bit more passive lore/background as I play. She's basically Tali and she was my main companion too, so I'm likely taking this the romance route as well.

If I had to liken Bellara to any previous companions, I would say she's a hybridised version of Tali and PeeBee. In that she's a slightly naive young'un like ME1 Tali, and also a slightly manic young tinkerer with ancient machines like PeeBee.
Harding is basically Liara if she'd only recently gotten Biotic abilities for the first time instead of being born with them, and there are some similarities in her plot as with ME3 Liara.
I think I'd liken Taash to Jack, in that she's got an absurd power level and anger issues.
Neve... Based on the choices I made, she was quite cold and distant to me for a long while, so... Miranda?

Just finished the game now. Just under 78 hours, 100% of achievements in a single playthrough. Pretty sure I got the "best" of all possible endings. How my endgame went:
Davrin and Assan died at the hands of Ghilan'nain. Nobody else actually died. Apart from that revelation that broke my heart for a third time in the space of ten minutes. Neve got abducted by Elgar'nan and Blighted for a while, but survived and was apparently cured in the end. I had that shard of Mythal from that encounter with her in The Crossroads, which Morrigan used at the end to bring her out for a chat with Solas. Rather than fighting him or tricking him, a combination of Rook, Inquisitor Lavellan and the Shard Of Mythal talked Solas down from destroying The Veil. Solas walked willingly into The Fade to atone for his mistakes, and The Inquisitor happily went with him. That CGI montage bit they went with before the main credits roll could have worked better as an intro movie.
That post-credits scene... So apparently you only see that if you picked up those three Mysterious Circle objects, and it's tied to some lore about a group called The Executors, who were previously referenced in Inquisition through the War Table, and in the Tevinter Nights book. And based on that scene, they've been puppeteering every major event of every Dragon Age game so far. Eurogamer have a pretty good summary of it. If any game was crying out for a New Game Plus mode, it's this. It'll be a while before I give it a second go, but I am intrigued by what could have gone differently.

Just had my first proper dragon fight against a lvl 40 (I'm at 30) electric dragon. A great big electrocution party it was, with both of us resistant to and dealing lightning damage. It took a while.

I do love the dragon battles. Just killed the big side quest one which is lvl 50 and I’m lvl 40 so again it took a while but so much fun and I had the help of a certain god due to what I had done in another quest.
Think I’ll just do the main quests now. Not sure how close to the end I am but I have been spending a lot of time doing the many many companion quests.

I think the hardest fight I had was against The Scarecrow, one of the haunting quests from the Necropolis. It wasn't a particularly different enemy from anything before it, I just found that in the moment I fought, I didn't really have the right equipment or companions for it, so I ended up having to really chip away at it for quite a while.

I suppose I should have expected it, but it bugs me a bit that I haven't had Taash with me for either of the two dragon fights so far.
Got one ring that makes every spell cast raise my damage by 20% but lower my resistances by 20%. Another that makes every spell a crit but also makes me take 20% of my health in damage. Combined with the constant four stacks of self-electrocution I have that could get interesting.

Got a funky amulet that gives me +20% damage against enemies with low health and also counts every basic enemy as being low health. So +20% against everything except bosses.

Got me a red dagger that does 0 damage but 80 damage of every element per hit which is decent but it how low stagger vs my other dagger. Definitely a stagger build is pretty powerful. I feel the combos of companions abilities should have been I bit deeper and fleshed out.

The hair is fantastic in this game.
As a bald person, this hurts.

Get yourself to that mirror and get you some beautiful hair! I’ve changed hair styles, tattoos, make up several times and even gave myself a nose job once.
Just finished a major story event and it was suitably epic with some great dramatic cut scenes in there so it’s really import to look good.

Sure, the hair is all very nice if you want your character to be Fabulous, but if you just want a basic, practical haircut that looks decent and you wouldn't have to spend a month washing the blood out of after every battle you've got maybe 3 or 4 options.

I went with a shaved head, option 4 in the hairstyles. Even that looks surprisingly decent in the cutscenes.

This game seems to have 437 companion quests. It never ends with their needs and issues. Dragon Age: family counsellor. I do like it though, they’ve definitely given a lot of background to the team and it feels like it’s more about the team than the main story.

Neve is so bad I’m finding it hard to continue her quest line. Finished Bella, emmrich, taash, crow, Harding all max bond etc.
Might just carry on without levelling neve or annoying bird lover but knowing BioWare it will mess up my ending.

So I'm impressed that there are multiple companion missions and they have mostly all been decent so far. In fact I'm impressed by just how many side missions there are in this, and none of them have been fetch quests.
Romancing feels half decent too. Because the game is quite long,it doesn't need to rush into things. It feels like you are taking much smaller steps each time, which overall feels more natural and organic.
I'm about 70 hours in now and it's very much still shaping up as my game of the year. Just did a rather epic mission which wouldn't have been out of place in Game of Thrones.
This game doesn't cease to amaze me. Love it.

All this talk of long hair, short hair looks great too.
This is my Rook, not looking happy with the world. I always create generic white guy, I only pick the female option when I am playing the Mass Effect trilogy for the 100th time. Jennifer Hale, enough said.

I’m on what I assume is the final mission and it’s suitably epic! Feels like all the things I did or didn’t do with my companions are making these decisions impactful and it’s all very dramatic right now! Loving this final few hours.

God damn the last four hours were 10/10. What an utterly brilliant and almost perfect way to end a game. I usually find games always mess up the final act but that was incredible. It wasn’t a perfect happy ending for me but that made all the story bits hit harder and genuinely had some of the more impactful moments I’ve had in an rpg for a while. Sure overall bg3 was the better RPG but I cared way more about what was happening and with these characters during those last few hours and there were many tough decisions to be made. Loved it.
Now I’ve got to be up in 5 and a half hours for work but about four hours ago I felt it had at most 1 hour to go but it just kept getting more epic and I couldn’t play for few days and couldn’t possibly leave it where I was.

peacemaker I am looking forward to the ending because I have had heard nothing but good things about it. Then again, I'm not looking forward to it because then it will all be over. I'm 68 hours in but thinking I still have quite a bit to do. I play quite slowly and stop a lot just taking in the sights.
