dasbooter AFAIK it's only your base class that you can't change, anything that involves skill points (including specialization) can, and at no cost besides the time spent reallocating them Yeah, deffo had FUN!!! at the top of their design flowchart whiteboard

Loving my build. I’m now lvl 27 mage who has put all points into electricity abilities and all my rings and amulets etc are red (unique) level shock buffs so I’m melting everything that I think I need to put it up to hard but then again I am enjoying playing it like I’m ninja wizard Thor with my lightening blade and orb.
The bosses have always been a lot of fun to fight, just defeated another high level champion at second attempt.

Do wish they'd just gone one step further and let you change class. I'm enjoying the combat A LOT but it feels like it's going to be huge and a change of style would be cool because at some point I imagine it will become a bit tired.

Yeah I do wonder whether the combat can sustain a game of this length but I agree, it is fantastic. Each skill upgrade has brought something new and exciting and likewise combat encounters are starting to open up. Only small complaint I have, is that there have been times I lost my character on screen in the action and not quite sure where attacks come from, but otherwise it’s excellent.
It’s really got its hooks in me now. Cleared and uninstalled all the games I was half playing and decided to focus on this in the end. Glad I did. Still a few things I have to check lore wise but I’m starting to pick things up a bit more easily now.

Save file says 66 hours, don't know if that includes the time I spent with it paused and off doing other things like occasionally remembering to eat.
Currently level 49, don't think I've even finished Act 2 yet. All faction ranks maxed out for one, and I wish I'd known earlier that you lose access to one of the faction merchants for plot reasons, however apparently you can still raise faction ranks at the merchants in The Fade by selling valuables there.
Still a few companions left to elevate to Hero status. The Heroic armours you can get for them vary based on choices, and you're then locked out of the other one, and I'm only just learning that there is no New Game Plus mode, unless they patch one in the future.

10 hours in. Really digging it now. Everything looks great all the time. The combat is batshit mad and fun. I can see it potentially wearing a bit thin but so far it’s a blast. The writing is quite bad though.

It's actually really good. But.
So the combat is fine, if a bit easy and I don't want a souls like game from Dragon Age, but it's very samey.
The characters are okay, but some of the writing seems CW tv show level a lot of the time.
The overarching plot is like the Labour majority, broad but shallow.
Have to admit, the visual style put me off at first, but it is really a stunning game world. I think because it has a curated (rather than open world) play area, they could focus on creating some stunning environments. No time of day stuff so everything is super focused. I quite like the character visual style. Rather than go a Hellblade route, they went a Disney/Dreamworks for characters and I think it works really well. Almost a 'Clone Wars' quality to the visuals. Hair rendering was fantastic. Genuinely think the only thing left to conquer is proper fluid simulation.
The actual play areas are linear, but almost have a metroid style quality to them. Some areas open up after gaining certain abilities or after story beats. Large but limited areas.
Music was okay, but it felt like they were trying to capture previous music vibes, without actually capturing them. Kind of like the Star Wars sequels.
What was really nice is the character progression. In Mass Effect 2 for example, you had a recruitment mission and a loyalty mission, that was it. In this, you get many missions to expand the character, and I thought that was great. Much more incremental.
My biggest complaint is a lack of consequntial decisions. Until I do a second playthrough, I can't be sure, but I'm not sure there are many such decisions throughout the game, but I'm fairly certain they don't affect the plot too much.
In conclusion though, I would recommend the game to anyone. It's shallow, but good fun.

Currently at level 50, all factions maxed out, Lighthouse workshop at rank 10, all companions raised to Hero status, all available quests completed, all my gear is Epic level, and the next quest is telling me it'll begin the Point Of No Return. Only 5 achievements left to get as well, hoping they are all plot ones I can't miss, as I haven't 100%-ed anything in quite a while.
Was mopping up the last collectible stuff, and annoyingly I have only two chests left to find, one in Docktown and one in Arlathan.

I’ve just got there for the first time. I like the dialogue choices so far, but I seem to be mildly annoying the freckly dwarf. The combat is fun and I’m only Lvl 2, so can imagine it’ll be a proper show later on.

What's everyone playing this on? I selected performance before starting and was surprised it felt real sluggish but it looked pretty and not having knowledge on how this stuff works I figured that was why.
Checking a different setting last night, 25 hours in, I realised it didn't save and went back to fidelity. So I flipped it and the movement speed was immediately noticed but fuck me did the game get ugly. Lasted about 5 mins before I changed it back.

I'm normally the same but I think I'm just settled into the look now that I just couldn't go back to the flickering shadows and the patchy see through beards. I'm exaggerating that but that's how it felt due to the time I already put in.

Too fast not to have the extra frames. Still think it looks lovely.
Are the chests random drops? I have got so much gear for my companions but so little for myself. Getting annoying now. My sword isn't good enough.

I will always choose performance. Without even trying fidelity mode I can still say this is one beautiful game. I did a major mission a short while ago which was quite breathtaking.
So my warrior I respecced. I have decided to put the points in the sword and shield and I have to say I much prefer this. The build just feels better with stacks of burning and bleeding. Also, the flaming cluster bomb is great and super powerful. I'll also never get bored of drop kicking enemies out of the map.
I thought this game was about the same length as say a Mass Effect, but it looks like it's going to be much larger. I'm about 45 hours in and it looks like there is a tonne of stuff to do still. This is super impressive what with it not being open world, a huge amount of effort has gone into it by the devs, so huge credit to them.
I said at 5 hours it had the potential to be my game of the year. I would say that so far it is still shaping up to be.

Neve is the worst haha. The worst voice actor and the dullest character. Clearly people are going purely off looks.
I’m either bellara or Tassh.

Neve is undoubtedly attractive - I'm watching a playthrough on YouTube, not playing it myself, just to be clear - but I'm with peacemaker re her voice actor and personality. No love for Harding? Not *one* member of the good ship Font Geek has a thing for freckled dwarves? I find that hard to believe!

I'm level 28 and combat is getting silly, in a good way. I've gone all in on the spellblade stuff with lightning, lightning and more lightning. Enough mana to burst out five abilities at the start of a fight and all are "strikes" which also inflicts bonus arcane bombs. Everything is exploding. Everything is electrocuted. I'm even electrocuting myself, which hurts but does more lightning damage to anything that touches me.
Bellara just got a bow that makes enemies vulnerable to lighting, and at lvl 30 electrocution will set things on fire. I should probably turn up the difficulty, but for now it's just funny.

Same re build. I’m all invested in lightening and all my items buff the various electric damages etc. melt most things. Currently playing all settings on medium but put my health to hard. Didn’t want to make the enemies to be damage sponges so made me pretty squishing to keep the combat a nice challenge.

I haven't decided on who I am romancing yet. I've just chosen the heart icon on everyone when I get a chance. Do I HAVE to choose?

Re: The Well, in Hossberg Wetlands
So that area in the Crossroads with the Blighted Tree that wants you to kill a certain number of Darkspawn before you can access what's inside it? Notice that there's a boarded up well next to it, and remember this area for later on.
After you deal with The Well at Hossberg, return to that area in The Crossroads and investigate what's happened to that well.
