One thing is puzzling me a bit about last night's episode, and I feel a bit stupid asking but here goes: Why did Cassian kill Skeen so quickly / suddenly? It seemed a bit...harsh. Was it just sheer rage at the lie (the brother story) and betrayal, the feeling Skeen had manipulated him? Or was there more to it e.g. self-preservation (he'd put himself in danger by turning Skeen down)? I've been pondering it and don't have a good answer. I know we've seen him kill in (relatively) cold blood before. So I guess it serves as a reminder of his nature, though that feels a bit forced. It's a little bit of everything I think, perhaps open to interpretation. To me Skeen and Cassian, as these three episodes have been establishing, have a lot in common in terms of their past and their relatively mercenary outlook. They've dealt with hard people, they've lived through hard times, and they're generally not idealists by nature. Skeen has been all over Cassian during this time because he thinks they see the world the same way, and he knows that a guy like Andor is very likely to be out for himself, and therefore a danger to the team knowing he himself was gonna double cross them. Ive aeen suggestions hes testing Cassian in that moment but I dont think he is. There's even a shot where Skeen does not provide cover for the ex Stormtrooper and gets him killed, knowing he would be a problem when time came to run. Skeen also insistent on going to the doctor as he bas a hideout not too far away. Cassian on hearing Skeens proposal knows he would turn on them if he was kept alive. Andors goal has been to find his sister, so he wasn't going to have someone jeopardise it.
Narratively, this moment is about drawing a line under the difference between who Andor has been telling himself he is and who he actually is, contrasting his sense of himself as a selfish mercenary with his underlying sympathy to the cause of fighting the Empire. Someone who actually is a selfish mercenary presents him the selfish choice of taking the money, and he rejects the offer.

Cheers, that all makes sense.

Another aspect to consider Cassian isn't the same merc at the end of the mission as he was at the start. His conversations with Nemik got him thinking about who he was, he's not a full blown rebel yet but he's been given a push.

I've not been the biggest fan of the show, it's just been good for me. However last nights episode was incredible and that was some of the best TV I've watched in a long time.

I do like that they’ve brought some ambiguity to him and the decisions some of them make so it’s not all black and white (except with the empire = evil).
I think they’ve shown Cassian is a good guy but conflicted between survival and doing what’s right, but there is a line he won’t cross and he isn’t selfish like your typical mercenary would be in these things.
This series is some of the best Star Wars there’s been for a long time and feels more like it should for those that grew up with it, instead of just repeating the originals or trying to.

Was that the first time we have ever seen/heard a pee pee being done in the Star Wars universe?

A brilliant episode last night, but then the whole series has been excellent.
The build up to the heist was superb, with great tension and peril.
There's no fat, everything is in there for a reason, but without being shoehorned in via some clunky exposition - lovely forewarning of the old fella's demise in the exchange with his wife about his weight, whilst also showing the greed and consumption of the Empire.
And those TIEs looked stunning, both inside and out.
Really liking how we the story is flowing in 3 week chunks, and part of me wishes we got 3 dropped at a time, but it's nice having something this good to look forward to each week

I think 3 starter episodes then each episode individually was the master stroke for this. Like a little movie then a follow on series.
I reckon with a little extra topping and tailing that 6 episode set could easily have been the first series, so to think we have another 6 still to go is awesome!
I also thought the effects for The Eye were astounding and really loved the TIE fighter stuff in and around that.
Interesting to see where they go next week now.

Watching this last night made me really really want a new level of The Eye added to Star Wars Squadrons.

Once it's over I'd love Disney to edit the story arcs into feature length films for rewatching. Seeing The Eye on the big screen would be nice too.

Luke Skywalker turned up with Qui Gonn Jinn and defeated the Imperial Army at the last minute. It was well cool.

I thought that the battle dragged on too much. Of course having Luke and Qui Gon battle set to a live performance of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers entire back catalogue was a bad editorial decision.

It’s been fantastic so far, really enjoying it. The end of Ep 6 feels like a natural break before the second half of the series. Love to see where it goes next.

RHCP and Star Wars sounds like a terrible idea - that’s never going to work.

A bit of a pause between arcs with today's episode but it certainly doesn't mean there's little going on. The heist is certainly causing the Empire to freak out, the crackdown is entirely playing into the Rebellion's hands and will give it a kickstart. The increase in sentence for being an actually innocent (for this) bystander was incredibly extreme, Suella Braverman would probably love doing that. Also mouse and KX droids! Clone, Storm and Shoretroopers all in one episode, blimey.

Andor feels more like Blake's 7 or Brazil than any Star Wars film since ANH, and is all the better for it.

Like the start of series 1.5 As you’ve said though plenty going on and some characters with less tie have come back in. I thought we had 2 new female characters on our hands half way through until I clocked who the meeting was between!

Quick question. Am I the only one who didn't realise that the tribe that visit the crashed ship was meant to be a flashback, and therefore the little boy was meant to be Andor?
Admittedly I'm a complete idiot sometimes, especially when following stories.

Thanks for the confirmation.
I watched it back and there was no suggestion whatsoever that it was taking place in the past. I just had to assume it was simple a tribe elsewhere in the galaxy, that was going to tie into the story somehow.

When a younger version of his 'mum' turned up and rescued him must have given the game away surely?

But then it became clear I reckon. It’s the undercurrent of looking for his sister from the opening scenes.

I'm not normally the type that starts picking holes/looking for realism in Star Wars BUT... why was the payroll for an entire Sector being paid in cash (no electronic transfer?) and why was it being hidden under an apparently pointless dam in the back arse of nowhere?
I think the answer is 'so that the heist could happen.'

Hah, I did wonder the same. Who needs a bank? We’ll just keep a load of cash in the sewers on this random backwater planet with 5 guards instead.
