Since everyone is tallking about Half-Life 2, I have decided to play another 20 years old game, Doom 3.
I had kind of forgotten how slow it is. On veteran difficulty, monsters hit hard and quick, and you take a lot of damage. Between the cramped quarters, lack of lighting, dangerous enemies, slow reload, and overall lack of mobility, the survival horror vibes are strong with this one.
But it does feel dated, very much so. Probably even more than its age would suggest.

Finished Ratchet & Clank : Rift Apart earlier today Enjoyed it a lot, was very epic at times towards the end. Definitely wasn’t as humorous as some of the earlier ones and the weapons weren’t quite as good as usual. Collected all the gold bolts and other secrets too I started the challenge mode and played through the intro, will probably carry on to upgrade all the Omega weapons to the max 8.5 out of 10

Dead Island 2 (PS5)
A couple of hours with this and a couple of hours with Dying Light 2 convinced me that this is the better game, at least for my current mood. It's a bit more stripped back where DL2 seems crammed full of too much open world and live service bullshit. The humour, so far, is pretty good too. I will probably go back to DL2 at some point when I'm feeling more inclined to tolerate that kind of game, but for now DI2 is scratching my itch for mindless zombie killing fun.
Under the Waves (PS5)
Wow, why have I not heard of this? Downloaded it on a whim and it's basically Firewatch meets Subnautica. Absolutely my jam and might well end up being the best game I play this year.

I also thought Under the Waves was excellent. I played it through twice as I missed a single trophy to get the Platinum.
Despite the mostly poor reviews, I caved to temptation and bought Fort Solis earlier this year. I loved it. I’d be very surprised if you didn’t gel with that too. I really connect with these sorts of titles and FS has really high production values for what is essentially an Event Horizon-esque walking sim. I really need to play Still Wakes the Deep - bought it a while ago and just waiting for the gf to go away for a weekend to blitz it with no disturbances.
