This might have already been posted elsewhere but I thought I'd mention it just in case.
Netflix under the games tab (which I'm not sure if I've ever used!) had a pop up for Rise of the Golden Idol. I have been playing through it over the past few days and it is a great point-n-click'alike. I'm enjoying it so far - definitely worth having a look if you like some puzzley goodness and you've got Netflix already. Or even if you don't.

Reminds me, I should probably go back to RE4. I got sidetracked by other stuff and haven't touched it for a month or two.
How far did you get, out of interest?
I've just done the bit where you
play as Ashley - I don't have a frame of reference for whereabouts I am, but I'm guessing just after the halfway point.

Half life 2 on pc.
I’m assuming it’s had various updates over the years as this does not look twenty years old! Still a joy to play what is probably my favourite game of all time. This or the original deus ex.

PoP TLC Loaded it up after work and had to drag myself away from it just now, otherwise I'd still be playing well after midnight. Excellent stuff! Snek boi is down and I've just got the double jump The map is ridiculously big, but traversing it is just so damn fun.

Hmm. If the traversal is the best bit of PoP:TLC then maybe I'll have to check it out after all. All the noise around release time made it sound like it was mainly about the combat, which is the least interesting part of any PoP game for me. Reminds me, I should probably go back to RE4. I got sidetracked by other stuff and haven't touched it for a month or two.

Hmm. Don't remember. The bit with the zombie villagers? Just after going across the lake. Where there are some houses on stilts in a pond. Maybe? Don't actually know how long the game is, so I have no idea how far through I am.

This or the original deus ex. Have they ever upgraded the lighting for the original? HDR, Bloom and such only got introduced with Lost Coast. But still, you are right, the water has always looked pretty good and facial animations are probably still superior to a good few modern games.
Other than that there were some weird updates to the visuals over time. Like the shotgun soldiers getting their own look or the blood spatter changing. For some time I even had it censored out I think

They've updated a bunch of stuff, both over the years and in the anniversary update - including at least some lighting fixes/improvements. I dunno if they've backported everything from the episodes, but it sounds like it has HDR at least.. www.half-life.com/en/halflife2/20th

Yeah it now supports hdr and it looks lovely.
Currently near the end of the hover boat escape and it is still 10/10, an absolute joy to play even by today’s standards. Almost makes me think what has actually advanced in 20 years outside of the visuals and audio tech. Like the music in this is pretty bad coming straight from playing Alyx.

I started Death Stranding last night on the Xbox after the surprise release last week and being able to get it from the Iceland store for a tenner.
For 5 years I looked at the game as a boring 'walking simulator' and had no interest whatsoever.
I played it for about 5 hours last night and was totally hooked. I didn't really have a clue what the fuck was going on, other than the world had gone to shit, something about the world of the dead spilling out into our reality and trying to unite the last remaining human settlements across America.
I loved the opening sequences, even though it was set in daylight it came across as a horror to me. The sense of dread and fear was palpable.
The menus are a bit overwhelming at first and the game doesn't really explain what you are doing very well. i think I started to get the hang of it though.
Looking forward to getting back into it tonight. Kojima at his batshit crazy best.

Blood Omen on PlayStation Plus classics, I'm not a graphics whore but fuck this game is ugly, it's actually hurting my eyes trying to figure out what's going on.
Only half hour in so will keep with it for now but seriously tempted to not bother.

The only good titles in the legacy of kain series are the first blood omen (the top down view one) and the first soul reaver. The rest were mediocre to bad.

Icewind Dale:
I'm visiting Heart of Winter for the first time and the Burial Isle has proven to be a somewhat ridiculous difficulty spike. Mostly because of Wailing Maidens. Battery Sirens have nothing on them. Well, at least they die much easier. Once I prioritised them with ranged weapons and some spells like Sunscorch and Magical Stone it came down more to trial and error, but just one of those being allowed to cast Hopelessness on the party while there were still Barrow Wights and/or Drowned Dead around was a death sentence.
Then there was a boss version of them at the end and she has a spell that basically just kills half of the party... but the same approach worked here as well. She just has to be killed before she can cast it.
Well, once I was through the crypt I let myself be returned to the main campaign. Seems better to level my characters a bit more before continuing with HoW.
