I often have PowerPoint on in presentation mode in the background to stop our ridiculously short screen saver timeout from kicking in. Haven't reached the point where I need to keep my teams status green, but I'm pretty close to looking for a solution!

In the past I've worked as a freelance animator / illustrator. It's a gig based job but I was shit at networking and finding jobs so I was frequently "between jobs" Some of these periods were several months long. I fucking loved it. Sat around playing games. I did say I was shit at finding jobs. After graduating I did nothing for 6 months. Just watched 24 on DVD. It was amazing. If I could maintain my current level of comfort (which is far from extravagant) and simply never work again, I would. In fact, that is my dream. Though I know I'll never actually realise it. Ultimately work is the thing that gets in the way of doing things I like. I don't like that system but I'm at peace with the system. Nailed it. The six weeks I had during 2020 for furlough was the best time I had in a long time - cycling, gaming, online board games, painting, guitar, walking the dog, decorating, cooking etc. all while getting paid? Fucking bliss.

Those people that say they'd still work if they won the lottery are weirdos. I'd never work another day in my life.

I have worked as a freelance graphic designer on numerous occasions and my shite ability to network and find work meant I was also between jobs a lot. Hence me never going full time with it. I too spent 6 months post graduation doing nothing other than watching 24, which my mate introduced me to by giving me the first three seasons of it (or two seasons, can't recall).
I now am also at peace with my place and do what is asked of me, nothing more.
Oooo. Let's join forces. Then we can watch LOADS of 24 and be doubly terrible at finding work!

It does. I didn't spoil the flow. Which thankfully I can say the same about of my splint.

Hang on, hang on. So if Wunty and Drhickman are two sides of the same coin, who gets the wife on what days and whose kid is it? Questions, guys. Many, many questions.

Simple. The penis splits in two, and each side has its own personality

I actually feel the same. However, when you have to log on every morning and make sure your Teams status isn't Away for too long it limits your options, somewhat. I'm at the stage where I go to the gym for 90 minutes during lunch 3 or 4 times per week. There are ways to make your teams status stay green, when away from the computer. Not that I do that, if course.. How? Asking for a friend ofc.

I don't think my work monitor statuses, thankfully. Tbh I'll often just stick it on away and potter about for half an hour or so.
If work start actively monitoring Teams as a metric to determine "productivity" I would look to hand my notice in.

My boss decided that the note sorting drawers of the smart safe were pissing him off enough by rejecting awkwardly folded twenties that ripping both of them out of the thing entirely was his only rational recourse.
Now both the plastic pins on either side of them to keep them in place are broken on each drawer, and as he didn't tell anyone he'd done this yesterday, I didn't discover it until I was cashing up this evening.
Nearly 18 and a half grand in notes came from the tills I decanted, and if it wasn't for the duck tape I used to fix the drawers back in place, I would have had to feed every one of them in one at a time.

There's a mouse mover app you can download off the Microsoft store, works well.

If they don't monitor Teams activity, you can start a meeting from your calendar, minimise it, then go back to the main window and set yourself back to available. It will show as meeting time if they're monitoring activity, though.

Even if MS store downloads were allowed in my place, it seems a bit nuts to put specific software for that on your work machine. It should really be an external solution if anything.
Spacebar held down worries me that it'd answer a teams call before I'm ready. The mouse on a watch trick didn't work for me unfortunately. I'll have to try a different one with a larger second hand. Not that I really need it of course, it's just handy to know.
