He was one of those posters on RPS that, when I saw his username in the recent posts, I knew there would have been something decent written. A good guy with a good sense of humour, despite everything he was dealing with.
See you in another life, brother.

The justgiving link, only just read the story and got to the part about being tough at the end and couldn't get through it. Choked up.
Just a horrible illness that causes far too much pain.

Absolute sucker punch. He was a lovely chap Can we get a little space invader somewhere in the Font Geek banner? I think Horizon might've made the original? Great idea. I’ve made his avatar mine and will keep it for a while like that.

Shocking news, genuinely shocked. I haven't read that thread for a while, but outside of it you really wouldn't have known anything was wrong from his posts.
It's genuinely heartwrenching to read his last few posts on 18th April, now knowing they were his last.
Really can't believe it. Will genuinely be missed.

I’ve only just seen this and there’s not much more I can add. I didn’t know him as well as the RPS guys but he always seemed one of the good ones on here and, as always, fuck cancer.
Seeing the total flying up like that on the donations pages really speaks to the love everyone had for him.

We all wear our screen names on our sleeves so much sometimes we forget there are real people behind them. I’d like to think in the time we had to know Chris we were able to know the kind, brave, family focussed guy he truly was. If there’s ever a Font Geek Hall of Fame, he’d be our inaugural entry.

I never knew him, but I've been heartened by all the support on here Particularly from this guy, who just seems like a wonderful person all round.

Very, very sad.
First time seeing any of this, haven’t been following it but sent a little donation.
Sending my love.

I hope the fact that they've smashed the fundraising goal in such a short space of time will provide some small measure of comfort to Kate and the girls. Not anytime soon, perhaps, but hopefully in the fullness of time. My dad died suddenly and unexpectedly, although not from cancer. A ton of people turned up for his funeral and knowing he'd touched so many lives meant a huge amount to us, even in the moment.

yes - my wife's funeral was in lockdown, so numbers were very limited..the response to her fundraiser was incredible, which was of great comfort, and it's the little messages that people leave that really stick with you and make you realise the impact one person has had - a lot of them have stuck with me to this day
oh. and the banner is perfect, just perfect x

I've not posted here or in the cancer thread, because I've never been good at comforting or expressing myself in a way that doesn't make things gloomier still.
But he was a good dude, whose posts I was always delighted to see, both for his still being around and just for his overall jovial spirit in spite of what was happening around him. He always joked when it seemed less appropriate, and crucially when we all needed it.
Tomo's suggestion and banner edit put a smile on my face.
this is a good place with good people in it. even if we bicker constantly.

Hi All, You may know that Chris was a Posh fan (Peterborough Utd) all his life and became a member of the Posh Forum (www.londonroad.net) when he was 12. Frankly, if we'd known his age at the time, we'd have banned him - but Chris went on to become a significant contributor to the Forum and eventually its main Admin expert and moderator. I spotted a few donations from Font Geek members on the Marie Curie JustGiving page and wanted to share a couple of items with you if that's okay? Chris (MeatnNoVeg on our Forum) kept us all up to date with his diagnosis and treatments in this thread, I've seen he did something similar here. His thread was inspirational and prompted more than one member to get their own unusual symptoms checked out. Chris hated the word 'inspiration' but, as we told him, you don't get to choose your own epithets in life. Secondly his wife posted details of his funeral. He lived fairly close to Peterborough so fellow fans, like me, plan to attend - but it occurred to me there may be FGs who would also like to know: 11am Thursday 19th May at Kettering Crematorium. I 'worked' alongside Chris moderating the londonroad.net forum for many years and I will miss his humour, kindness and calmness under fire from irate football fans. I can see from reading the cancer thread that many of you will miss him too. RIP Chris KR Phil Nelson PK

It must have been really hard to lose a friend and I wish you all the best as you process such a tough loss. There's probably a joke in there somewhere about being a Posh fan and processing loss that Chris might appreciate but I'm not sure what it is

Thank you Nelson and yes, same here. If it wasn't for Chris' updates I'm not sure I would have been confident enough to get a few things on my end checked out, and I'm very grateful to him for that.
And yes, please stick around.

Great post, Nelson. Thanks so much for making it.
And yes, please do stick around if you feel remotely inclined to do so - I don't know how often the c-word gets dropped at the Posh Forum, but if it's every other comment or thereabouts, you'll feel right at home!
