I have some of the games from GoG rather than Steam. Doesn't really matter greatly to me if I have it twice (Steam is always more convenient, particularly if you want to play on the Steam Deck) just hope I didn't deny it for anyone else.

Some Blackwell series Steam keys if anyone wants them: CHE9G-ZZFY3-NCAAB BF7NR-NBF4Y-TDFD2 DBWJ2-RAP3Z-7A9H9 BGKMC-8XY7A-QDXKJ I have taken the third key. Thank you very much. Absolutely loving my steam deck, I'm spending so much more time playing games rather than faffing with settings.

I got the last key, thank you Tomo. I was looking for something new to play.

GTA IV runs maxed out at mostly 60fps from the hour I’ve just played, which is kind of cool.
V also runs relatively well and RDR2 is excellent on it.

Did you just install IV no-frills, or did you have to tweak or mod anything? I was thinking about replaying it after listening to the latest Back Page patreon podcast.

No frills. Bit of virtual keyboard fuckery needed if you don’t already have a R* game all set up but nothing too tricky.

Still amazes me how well the Deck runs Witcher 3. I went for the stable 40fps option in this video. youtu.be/9Z2b2-o5qTA

Had the involer docking station arrive this morning. £25 on Amazon
All good so far have a monitor, mouse, keyboard and my steam controller plugged in but it worked with my old Xbox controller as well. Bit of a faff to get games running at non deck resolutions like 1080p but once you know how it's all good.

I've got the EPIC games library up and running on it this morning so I can play some of the free stuff they have given away over the years. Was much easier than I expected. Quality purchase. Been meaning to do this. Got links to any guides you followed? Only just seen this via notification! This chaps video was quick and inoffensive www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5YAaig5B_4

My new 1tb nvme with win 11 is working pretty good with the steam deck tools package, TDP and other settings from steamos it makes avaible. It's more comfortable for me after having Windows pcs for 20 years but I do feel something is missing without the usual OS, maybe it's the tinkering I miss.
Dual boot both off nvme seems the best option but I'll have to read up on that, if I can give myself a 256GB steam OS and near 700 for win 11 I'll be very happy.
If anyone is curious make a windows on the go install on a sd card with rufus and apart from terrible write speeds it's a good temporary trial.

Hmnm really want one of these. Looks like the best option is the cheapest one and upgrade the SSD to 512 or 1tb...

I haven't found it that easy to find reasonably priced SSDs in the correct form factor. I suspect there will be more later this year as there will be increased demand for them.

If you don't mind used then CEX online can be worth a look. I've got a couple of Toshiba 2230 OEM drives off there in the past that have been ripped out of laptops. They'd had something silly like 30GB written to them, so basically new. The Sabrent model should be available now too, which is I think the first consumer 2230.

Yeah, the Sabrent Rocket 2230 is 'the' drive to get. I was considering one for my 512GB Deck but they only top out at 1TB, I'm not cracking open my machine for only double the drive space.
That said, SD card performance is perfectly decent so I've found I just install smaller/older games to that and it's fine. You maybe lose a second or two in the initial load but otherwise you're not going to be frustrated.
On a side note, I've picked up the official Valve dock and it's a very satisfactory machine on the desktop now. Some irritations remain in terms of a nasty resolution bug in gaming mode and the Wifi acting weird when power saving mode is activated, and Freesync isn't activated yet, but for what you get it's a very good value PC at this point.

That Sabrent nvme isn't much faster than the ebay oem KIOXIA 256 I put in my mates deck, when I'm home I'll do a disk mark thing and post it here.
I still got an Anker hub and that powers my monitor on my desk downstairs and I've moved the sim rig into its own room upstairs so my deck is used as a pc the majority of the time on its own desk for my daily pc nonsense.

Here is the results for the Sabrent NVME in Windows 11, its running as pcie 3.0 even though its 4.0, the socket on the Steam Deck holds it back a little.

So, got my deck yesterday.
Loving it so far, the graphics way surpassed my expectations and xcloud works really well.
Also loving the balance between stuff just working and endless tinkering available.
I can see this being where most of my gaming happens for the foreseeable!
Current to-try list

Current to-try list Xbox remote play Emulator Epic store games Let me know how you get on with Xbox remote play, please. I haven’t needed to try it because Cloud Gaming works so well, but I recently bought Cyberpunk which isn’t on Game Pass so I’d be tempted to dabble with it. Pre-Steam Deck, I much preferred remote play over Cloud Gaming on an iPad + controller, but the cloud has improved a lot in a year. Talking of Cloud Gaming, I highly recommend Hifi Rush, which is a cross among Jet Set Radio, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Kingdom Hearts and Persona 5. I wondered about the rhythm action element being affected by playing via the cloud, but it’s quite easy to land ‘perfect’ sequences (at the start of the game at least).

Been really tempted by the Deck lately too. Was considering loading it up with Sega purchases off Steam. Yakuza, Sonic, Persona, Valkyria Chronicles, Binary Domain, that type of thing. Then I saw how things like Death Stranding and Callisto Protocol ran on it and was truly impressed.
Only thing is I’m sure a few months after I order one, they’ll announce a revision with a longer battery life.
I’ll probably bite within a month or two though. The more I see, the more I’m tempted.

On the battery, I guess it very much depends on what you are using it for, but I've personally had very little to moan about when it comes to how long it lasts. Yes, if you are playing the latest big budget games than it is going to burn out quickly (less than 2 hours, without tinkering), but I suspect once the novelty wears off you will mostly want to play those on a big screen anyway.
Playing indie games and older titles you are looking at a much more Switch-like length of time with the battery, sometimes longer.

That’s the thing, isn’t it? If you’re just going to lie on the sofa or in bed with it connected to the wall, it doesn’t matter. But if you wanted to take it with you on a plane ride, it’s not going to keep you entertained for long.

International flights have proper power sockets now, specced up for 100W on the 787 so there's plenty of juice for the Deck. I played a total of 15 hours of Lost Judgment flying to and from Japan.

Was planning to grab the Witcher 3 expansion pass today but the bastards ramped the price back up from £5.99 to 19.99 (although it looks like they pulse the price as regularly as every few weeks - probably a good strategy to get lots of prompts in for people that have it on a wish list).
I struggled to get remote play working at first - got a very complex error message in the Greenlight app, but turned out it wasn't a Steam Deck thing as it also wasn't working on my phone. Resolved it by removing the Xbox remote features from my app and adding it back again.
Performance wasn't the best (Cloud seemed better) but I suspect it may be down to my home network which revolves around an ancient PlusNet router, although I do at least have a reasonable Wi-Fi network using the BT Whole Home discs).
edit: also finding that cloud saves don't seem to work on Disco Elysium via Heroic launcher, which is a bit of a pain.
