No, I installed the EGS launcher directly. Probably last used it October/November. Had a bit of progress and got past the password screen, then it freezes and input locked on adding age. So I fired up EGS on the mac and added it there. Went back and now get stuck on a captcha screen where you can't see the images to click, looks like the viewport is screwed up on the web control

OK, couple of reloads later and managed to get in without being stopped by captcha in EGS. Might have been as I tried in Heroic and captcha worked there so my IP address was whitelisted?

I still need to get GOG Galaxy worked ng on Deck... (And EGS but not actually tried that one yet). Heroic is an alternative bit things like cloud saves and auto-updates would be nice.

Nice, will likely look at getting one at some point. The 64GB is absolutely fine with a 512 SD card inside. I'm mainly playing some backlog games so it's largely all running at a solid 60 too. Pretty impressive piece of kit I have to say.

What are people's thoughts on the Deck after having it for several months now?
Gotta say, I absolutely love it. Caught myself this morning as I was browsing Steam Store in bed at the ludicrous breadth of choice and just how well they've nailed it first time. Take for granted now that I can just switch from playing Sekiro to Roadwarden in an instant.

It is effectively an emulation station for me, and I dearly love it for that.

Was amazed to see that apparently 20something% of my Steam time has been on the Deck, according to the Steam Replay thing the other day. As I only got it September that means pretty much half my time on Steam has been through the Steam Deck.
I really do love it. I'm not massively bothered about being able to play the latest and greatest on it (which, to be honest, does require some fiddling to make comfortable and probably would prefer to play on a big screen anyway), but playing older or indie titles on it is a delight.
Still need to get some emulation sorted. I did get Emulation Station on it and a bunch of SNES games, but should try something a little more modern.

I emulated for a bit but it’s been 90% Steam games for me. I think I completed Spidey on it.

Emulation on it is great, filled a spot I was missing out on, bought a Mayflash F101 arcade stick to play Neo Geo games.
Considering trying that Batocera, I got the Sabrent nvme preordered and arriving mid January so I'll be mixing up where my operating systems are installed. Windows needs more than my Samsung Evo for doing more than 1 task at a time, going to try steamos from it and windows on the Sabrent nvme.

Yeah I love mine. Finished Titanfall 2 on it, and hammered plenty of indie games so far.

Project Zomboid has been on my wishlist for eternity and now because it's like ten quid rather than 5 I'm too salty to buy it lol

I love it. Been playing Project Zomboid almost exclusively. That's another Im tempted with. Just wasn't sure how it would play on the Deck.

I've only played on the deck, but its pretty good one you get the hang of it, you may want to change to one of the community controller schemes. It can be a bit menu based for some things, but the game is great fun if you ever think about what you would do in an apocalypse. Be prepared to die a lot, and don't get too attached to your character, but luckily the most fun is when you start a new character and try to survive the early game.

Absolutely loving my Deck, easily the best tech purchase I’ve made this year.
One slight annoyance though is storage. I have the internal 256gb almost full and a 256gb micro sd card full of my roms.
What are my options now? If I buy a 1TB card, as far as I can tell, there’s no easy way of transferring my roms across, or am I missing something obvious?

VS continues its domination on steam deck, even though I play it exclusively on android now myself.

Bonkers to me that Elden Ring is second on that list. Perhaps if I'd started it in the Deck then I wouldn't think that, but going from big screen to Deck screen was a struggle. It's so vast the enemies looked pretty teeny.

Spent a lot of time over the holidays with the family playing the Deck on the sofa with the telly on rather than sitting at the big PC. Been generally an excellent experience, and it's all due to that combination of good-enough specs (which can pull out some surprising levels of performance even on high end games) and the extra control options. Adding gyro aiming to Borderlands 3 made it feel really great to play and if I'd chosen to limit it to 40fps I think it would have been very consistent.

Enable SSH on the deck. Use Winscp on your computer to connect and backup the folders. Then swap drive and restore the rom folders. Lots on YouTube regarding this.

My main PC has shit itself over Christmas so Ive been 'forced' to play this and I love it. Lots of diverse games I would never normally play are getting time like Thronebreaker and Far Lone Sails.
Loving Project Zomboid after learning the controls but is it ever bleak and depressing.
Rimworld on a handheld! with mods!! Amazing scenes.
I've got the EPIC games library up and running on it this morning so I can play some of the free stuff they have given away over the years. Was much easier than I expected.
Quality purchase.

Would be good to hear what it is like using Win11 on it now. Early impressions were very meh and it sounded not worth it from both UI navigation and performance. If it is better now though and I could get Game Pass going then the Deck would be even more perfect.

Thanks Tomo. I nabbed the first code (although I thought each key was the whole collection until just looking in my library. Hope the one I got wasn't already one I already picked up some time ago!) In regards to accessing the Epic store, you just need to install the Heroic Launcher. You can do this through the desktop straightforwardly and I don't recall anything particularly tricky about it. Once installed, you just link to you account for Epic (and also GoG if you want). Add the launcher to your Steam library and away you go. Quick glance and seems there might be some more complicated ways of doing it, which will likely let you add individual games to Steam, but can't say I've had issues doing it the simple way: bigtechquestion.com/2022/07/13/gaming/install-epic-games-launcher-on-steam-deck/

Steam won't add a key twice, so if it worked, you didn't have it already Thanks, I'll take a look.
