Had a weird Bluetooth issue. If you turn Bluetooth off in desktop mode the setting in Steam OS does nothing, but also doesn’t tell you it’s off. I had this. Took me ages to figure out as I just assumed my headphones were acting up!

How are the trackpads? Found them useful for mouse movement uses? Yeah, you can customize them so much it nearly fits any purpose. Touchpads, mouse region, trackball, etc etc, and you can add in macros and combos to do things like combine it with gyro, change sensitivity on the fly and so on.

Is there a quick way on the store / steam app / library to see if a game is compatible with the Deck?

Emulators are easy. Emudeck or Retrodeck are practically one-click and done. They do use Retroarch for the older consoles out of convenience, but working around that is easy enough, there’s a ton of guides out there. Do you need to set up your roms in directories / have bios’s ready before running Emudeck?

Weird finding and I’m wondering if anyone else has this.
Queuing up a download, it goes along at a high rate, close to max of my wifi speed. Except when it’s fully charged and on power, at which point wifi appears to be throttled. Wifi power save is off, tested with and without a download limit.
If I’m not charging, it’s fine. If I’m charging and it’s under ~90%, it’s fine. Its only when it goes into pass through/trickle charge it throttles.
On the beta channel.

It was even more in CEX (buying and selling price) just last week. Pretty sure it was about £300 profit if you sold it straight away after buying (512GB).
In other news I finally got my order, now to hope they use a competent shipment company...

Well, they are getting less scarce by the week, so a drop in trade-in price is expected.
A week in and I've got used to the weight now and the initial awkwardness of holding a big heavy thing and moving thumbsticks (especially the right one for aiming) is gone. I remember I had that with the Wii U tablet as well. I'm done with RE3 for the foreseeable and moved onto Alien Isolation. It has some very rough antialias, but is quite special otherwise. So stressful.

Ironically isn't the Switch version of Alien Isolation the best one?

Love Alien Isolation. Genuinely in top 10 of GOAT. Maybe even top 5.
What is it about the Switch version that is so good?
Had a glance yesterday to see if my order estimate had reduced at all. It had gone from July 2023 to August 2023. Can only imagine what the estimate must be if you ordered right now.
Is this just a UK thing or are most places looking at well over a year for orders to be fulfilled if not done in the initial rush?

If you look at the order collation threads on Reddit the European queue has progressed much faster than ours so region does make a difference.

Are there more specific estimate details out there beyond looking at your order on the Steam store?
Mine just says Q3, Oct 2022 or later) and has done constantly I think.

It wasn’t terrible in my case. It had me pegged for May 9, got the invite 2 weeks earlier.

I'm assuming that the calculator is completely inaccurate for anything far in advance though. Not sure whether the calculation is taking into account ramping up of production. They have said they should be able to do 100s of thousands a month after a while, so you would think they could fulfill all current orders within 2022.

I've slipped from Q2 to Q3 on Steam now (256gb). I think I started in Q2, then late Q2, now Q3. Slightly annoying.

It also has a lower TDP, which should lead to less fan noise. It also depends on general layout of the device and case design of course, but it's certainly an advantage that could be put to effect.

I think the Neo 2 is going to be quite a bit over the $1000 mark. I would he tempted to wait but twice the price (minimum) and Chinese warranty/QC issues. (I nearly bought the original OneXPlayer when it was up for pre-order but resisted). Those extra cores would be nice for PS3 emulation though as the Deck is going to struggle with some games.

With the Neo 2 they'll be able to crank up the TDP as much as they need to but yeah, the extra thickness does suggest a nice big heatsink. Good to see them go for the 'higher end'.
The one I'm looking forward to is the Ayaneo Air - about the size of a Switch and slightly lower weight with a lower TDP processor but preorders have opened in China at about $650. It's not been confirmed but it looks like quad core Zen 3 with the older graphics Vega cores so while it won't be as able with newer games it'll be a killer emulation machine - especially as it's going to have a 1080p OLED display.

If community performance settings become a thing I consider that a huge leg up compared to the competition.

Not sure I would agree that this will kill off the Steam Deck, mainly for software reasons rather than hardware. Although you can bemoan that the Deck is not as sleek as a console experience, the very fact it has any kind of professionally made custom operating system on it appears to be a big benefit for usability. Running Windows on it sounds to be a right pain in the arse, not just because of the driver issues, but just simply because Windows is not designed to be used in that form factor.
Plus, the very quick turnaround that Valve has been having with adding extra features and improvements to the software shows the benefits of having proprietary software they can continually improve. I can't imagine the out of the box experience is going to substantially change with a device like the the Aya Neo.
I don't know what the existing Aya Neos are like though, so perhaps I'm completely wrong.
Could be fantastic for those looking purely for emulation, particularly emulation of more modern systems. Steam Deck is supposed to be pretty good for that, but sounds as if it struggles quite a bit with PS3.
Edit - oh and the cost of those is massively more than a Deck. The current ones are all over a $1000, with the most expensive being $1600.
