Think it’s cos no one really gives a shit about the story of two tennis players’ father.
Sounds like a really bad daytime TV movie.

I thought the point was it was about them too, not just the father. And a kind-of biography about two of the greatest sportspeople ever should have been a bigger deal. But yeah, from the trailer it did kind of just come across as Oscar-bait.

I saw it (mainly because there was quite a bit of buzz around his performance and award potential of it). It was a good film, although quite clearly authorised by the Williams family. It glossed over his children with other women, just throwing it out in an argument, and doesn't particularly delve into what is clearly quite an unhealthy relationship he has with his family.
His performance is pretty good though. Not Daniel Day Lewis good, but unexpectedly good for Smith.

Maybe the angle of the young girls growing up to be superstars would be more interesting? I'm sure they had something to do with it aswell haha

When he wants to , he really can act - the scene where he gets told he is being offered the job in the pursuit of happyness gets me every time, great scene and he really delivers it.

Like, no-one has any idea how many kids he has, or if they're even his (and not just because he's lost track, unlike Boris Johnson!), or whether his apparent current partner really is his partner or it's all some ruse. I guess one could just make it up based on the most glorious and insane possibilities and rumours, and that would be pretty entertaining. |

I watched King Richard when it came out. I thought it was really good. While it did showcase Richard Williams training and managing their careers, it's very much about the rise of Venus Williams. With Serena, it was more "and wait till see what the little one can do..."
