I am intrigued by this scenario (not the backdoor kicking) now though. If a guy is taking the piss quite nastily out of your missus for whatever reason, she gets upset, as women do, she might have a cry and fountains of tears start spraying up into the air like in a Tex Avery cartoon, you have a word with the guy, he tells you to fuck off and your mum's a slag etc, the consensus in here is that you wouldn't have a poke at him? You'd just skulk away? How much would it take? Unless I'm very much overmatched (I'm not a complete fucking idiot) I'd show the gentleman the error of his ways, what. Man's obviously a dick, so why do I care what they think? Some random shouty nob is going to get me all emotionally wound up I lash out? Nah. Never wrestle a pig. I wonder who we would most like to see biatch slapped Chris Rock style? (Not that violence is to be condoned of course). Maybe that yo-yo guy who jumped the shark? Is it too obvious to just say [insert your choice of politician's name]? If we are moving outside of the Forumite set, then the gloves are off. But would anyone say Reece Mogg isn’t absolutely first up. |

Of course I'm a total fucking wimp who hates actual confrontation so the chance of me ever acting on these thoughts is virtually nil. But I still like to revel in the fantasies.

I've barely read this thread but here is my hot take as a white middle aged man who should therefore keep his opinions to himself.
This is not a big news story because of race, or because of hairloss in women, or the position of black women in society or anything else.
In a time of Real Shit like war, pandemic, inflation and lurching from one crisis to another: a celebrity smacking another celebrity on stage at a celebrity do is a nice easy news story that people can latch on to and project their opinions on* because ultimately it's nothing more than a high profile bit of celeb gossip and it doesn't actually matter.

They could somehow draw a straight line from Ryan Reynolds spilling a drink over someone by accident and the inequality that still exist today due to the slave trade given enough Twitter posts to extrapolate wildly from.
